i'll have to check these out in person...but that topline on the pro model looks massive to me.

and $250 a club kinda stinks, but we all know people will pay it.  Unfortunately i'll have to pass due to the price point

I do sorta like the look on the pro...can't wait to hear the reviews on them

I like the look of the Pro.  Just ordered an Epic SZ.  Been saving my nickels since I heard it was coming out.  I should be able to afford these around 2032 or so after both boys get out of college.

I got to see these and hit these the other day. Wow.

There's something else coming soon that'll make Golfwrx implode. Particularly  the 3 deep fans.

Still can't stand the design on the cavity with the 2 bars coming across. I know you won't see it at address, but it doesn't stop the fact that I think they are unappealing visually.

These look like every Callaway cast club release of the last 10 years. Its almost insulting to put these out at $250 a club. There's a sucker born every minute.

I suppose all of R&D / Marketing companies (what's left of them) are going down the road of offering high-end products a la PXG. It's puzzling.

Who is the target demographic for this offering? I sort of get PXG going after the guy or gal where money isn't a barrier. I don't understand this one unless they are gambling on selling less product at higher margins rather than more product at lower.

Which it probably is. Sell higher margin products via the website rather than sending a lot of product to just sit in the store.

Made to order, less inventory, less risk, same or better margin.

Just based on the pics, I really like the look of the Epic Pro Irons. Unfortunately all golf clubs are creeping into a ridiculous price point but hopefully that trend will not outpace release cycles!

I agree with Ace2000 above. The Pro looks good at address and coupled with the claimed technology advances, this starts to sound intriguing. Then, I look at the back of the club and wonder who at Callaway approved that hot mess?

Regarding price point, I have the rest of the year to save up since I won't be able to play golf while recovering from selling off a kidney.

So Callaway is expecting hardcore custom fitting at big box stores (Edwin watts, Dicks, golf galaxy, etc.) to decide where exactly the need to bake in some tungsten powder so people can have custom weight like a pro?? Yeah right. Swing and a miss for Callaway in my opinion. While Callaway has a great product (most of the time) I believe the extent of their sales come from mostly buying off the shelf or with custom orders with at the most different shafts, lie angel, and lofts. Also, the claims of a 1/2 a club longer than the APEX line don't scream $2k a set either.

They are going to need a lot of help selling these and I am not sure the fine people at dicks have quite what it takes to prescribe tungsten powder weight changes to different parts of a club face for $250 a stick.

There is a reason I have personally never seen anyone (besides on tv) actually playing a pxg club and that I see a large percentage of Callaway clubs at every course I've ever played.

I have an all Cally bag but this is such a bad miss for Callaway IMO it will definitely damage the brand with me.  It's just too copy-cat.  The video launch is a straight PXG copy.  The names of a driver making it over to irons is a bad Taylor Made copy.

Cally had a lot going its way...
1. VERY popular iron series with Apex and XR Steelhead lines plus a Big Bertha line for the high handicappers
2. Growth in the metal woods category with the Epic release.

And now they just vomit on the market with a cheesy 'Epic' iron that looks terrible and is $250 a club.  Bad.  Just bad.

The hybrid will be in my bag immediately.

That said, I'm obviously a huge Callaway fan and the Epic Pro irons look pretty good at address, I'm just not sure why they made the cavities look like they did.  Could be a better design from an aesthetic standpoint IMO.  The technology is interesting as is the weight savings so it's a great story.  But I'm not sure you can justify 2x the price over the Apex CF16 for 1/2 club more distance.

I'm intrigued and will hit these, but not feeling the "I gotta have it" for these at the moment.  I'm sure the fit and finish in person will likely be better.
