After some careful consideration I decided to take the leap and I ordered a set of CB-501's. I am currently playing Adams Pro Black MB's and wanted something a little more forgiving. To say  I am excited is an understatement. From what I have read on the boards the 501's don't get much love. What is the general consensus on the 501's?

I'm having them refinished by BOS in a patina oil finish. They should be very unique.

You are right that the cb 501 have had bad press on WRX so I was surprised when I hit them how much I liked them. I have only hit the 4,5 and 6 irons though. I got them used in a combo set with the mb001 short irons. Luke warm on the blades but really like the 501's a lot! Been on the lookout for 7-pw in the 501's to complete the set but not surprisingly very hard to find. (short of buying new)
Congrats on your first set of Miura.

C, I'm really curious how you'd like the BB. What don't you like about the MB001?

Yeah I'm curious too! One day I might find out :)
The 57's have so many devotees here that there must be something special going on.
Hard to pin down what I didn't like about the 001's. Shape and size were fine. Same shaft as the 501's too. Maybe it was the sole grind. Just could not seem to catch it really solid with them. When I demo a new head it really is just a feel thing for me and if I take them out a couple of times and they don't have that "thing" about them I just put them aside.
Maybe I have just not given them a fair go and perhaps was swinging a little scratchy at the time.
I still have them so I can certainly try again.
Thanks for your message BTW. I hope my reply got through.

I'm new to the whole Miura thing, but I can tell you I was really surprised by the BBs on how easy they were to hit. I tried the BBs against the Mizuno 900 Tours (among a few other clubs), it wasn't close, I thought the Mizunos were way harder to hit than the BBs even though it's a bigger, quasi-cavity head. The 900s were harder to hit than the blade MP5 version.

the 501s was my first Miura set.....love them.

Got them like 4 years ago and played them every week. Even though it wasn't the latest and great, the club never felt old. Awesome choice!

To answer the question to those pondering...

YES!!! There IS something special with the Baby Blades.

To those that have not hit them, I challenge you to find a set and hit them. If you have the absolute least bit of interest in obtaining a set, find them, hit them, and proceed to fork over the cash!!

You'll thank me later.

Witn you man. I found the JPX 900 Tour to be much more demanding than several other allegedly demanding clubs. The MP5 is way easier. All of the Srixons, including the muscleback 965 I game, were easier for me than the Tours.

I did like the 900 Forged, and the Hot Metals go a long way. So I would hope the BBs would be about the same as my Srixons in playability. Miuras are but a dream for now.

Just got the call from BOS golf that they received my irons and are going to start the refinishing process shortly. I am going with a 2x patina oil with black paintfill. I loved the look of my copper ping eye 2's and wanted to recreate that look with this set. As soon as I receive them I will post pictures and a WITB!

Congratulations. Welcome to the world of JDM. You will never be the same. Played Miura CB-501's for 2 years until I got promoted and began playing less and less. I still have a set of Miura MC-102's because they are more forgiving. You will love the 501's.

:-)

Somehow you end up with more than one set.. I can surely attest to that. Being a lefty has saved me some money.. I'll say that much. I've already owned all of the LH models they make.

That being said, there is an individual who ones a one of one set of LH Baby Blades, but he won't sell, which is good, cause I can't afford them, I'm sure, but I'd figure out a way..

OP : Enjoy! Your first crisp shot will have you hooked. Even in CB's, there's easier clubs to hit than Miura's. There's clubs that go further too, but nothing offers the same satisfaction of hitting great shots with them. One of my sets fetches some pretty decent money, and I'm a ho thru and thru, and selling hasn't even crossed my mind.

Welcome to the club of enthusiasts who have a lot less money than they used to!
What's actually in the bag...

Your first set? How many do you plan on purchasing?

Oddly enough.

CONSISTENTLY.

My Baby Blades are the longest irons I've played (in terms of distance). I'd say on average, maybe, 6 yards.

I've owned some shovels in my time too. Alongside Miura, I'm a Callaway guy too, so you know I had some X12's, 14's, and 16's. The 14's and 16's we're Pro Series, but still enormous compared to the Baby Blades.

I've got a set of CB-57's too. I've only hit the 6 Iron thus far. The 5 and 7-P are still brand new. The 6 Iron blends nicely into my Baby Blades 7-P.

Perfect setup.

I did the same thing got a amazing deal at 2nd Swing.  Lefty CBs theres really no comparison in feel and soldiness of Miura.   Ive had many sets of Mizzys and the Miuras are even better may be a little harder feeling but REALLY solid.  Anyone looking for Miura should check out website

This probably has been answered a bunch, but Is there any performance or longevity difference between the black boron Miura Baby Blade heads vs. satin? They do look cool in black but are $50 more per head.

The Miua Black Boron finish lasts much longer than the black finish o the Black Series wedges or Limited Edition Blades, but does wear over time.
The satin nickel/chrome will last much longer but is a harder finish and hence affects  feel.

I have 5 sets of Miuras with the Black Boron finish and i know for a fact that the finish ages nicely but it does wear quickly, very fragile finish but beautiful !

The 2x patina finish from bos on my irons is wearing quickly as well. I absolutely love the look of them thought.
