Golf is my life. I play it everyday, practice everyday. I have never been one to cheat, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Earlier today, I had a tournament for my junior golf league (it was a major). And I placed 2nd, beating the tie for 3rd place by one stroke. Contemplating my round later than night, I thought about the one hole I got a 6 on, only realizing that I got a 7. I signed for a 6 and received a second place trophy.... I didn't realized the mistake at the time.... help, what do I do? I can't even sleep :(

Contact the junior tour office and ask for the contact information for the tournament chairperson or whoever was in charge of running the event. Let him or her know what happened just as you have done here.

In the end this is just junior golf and life will go on.  I expect your honesty will be respected and appreciated, and you'll certainly sleep better no matter the outcome.

Contact the league official and tell them the same story.

Doing the right thing is a lot harder than doing the wrong thing.

Let us know the outcome. Your life ain't over just a bump in the road that a lot of golfers have gone through.

Keep the trophy and enjoy 2nd place.  Just kidding lol, just reach out to the tournament folks and let them know of the mistake.  Doing the right thing will mean much more then winning 2nd place trust me.  Just make sure you are 100% positive that you made the mistake.

"ruined my life" #firstworldproblems

What the posters above me said, turn yourself in.  Also, you're telling us that it was a mistake--something that you didn't realize until much later.  Don't beat yourself up too much over it, especially once you fix the issue by contacting those in charge of the tournament.

You have a lot of golf tournaments ahead of you, so learn from this mistake for the future.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input.... will definitely be contacting the tournament director. Unfortunately, he also happens to be my swing coach. Trying to prepare myself for the disappointment.

P.S.- I may have overreacted with the title- I may have been having a mild panic attack, sorry!

Haha. Yes, I did make a double bogey... only double of the day though (rarely make doubles on a round). I regularly break 80, even almost broke 70 at this tournament in Vegas... Just not very consistent with my scores- especially when I let my emotions get to me after making a couple bogeys.

I think he's talking about your handicap.

Yeah... I realized that. Just wanted to point out that I usually shoot better, and that double bogeys aren't common for me. I find myself shooting 78 on a decent day. So, +8 isn't too surprising. I'm probably a +7 now... I should update that. 🙃

First you should figure out exactly what the Handicap system is and how it works.

LOL.... If you were a +8 you would be playing on tour.  If you are shooting a 78 on a decent day, you aren't even scratch.

I think its pretty obvious he is mistaking an 8 handicap for +8. Probably mistakenly thinking +8 = 8 strokes above scratch or some other misinformation.
