How did you finish today? Hope it was a relaxed victory.
Dissapointed. I feel like I gave it away. Again I struggled with a hot start and faded. I birdied 1 and 2, hit a ball in the water on 5 and lipped out for bogey, then just a total brain fart on 8 after birdie on 7. I hit a ball fractionally OB and then had 217 into the wind with water right for my fourth shot and came out of it. Dropped, missed green and chipped in for 7. Heading to the back I was 1 stroke back. We both bogey 13, I lipped out for Eagle on 14 and we're tied after my birdie. Miss birdie on 16, he birdies 17, I hit a perfect tee shot on 18, hit my wedge right over the flag but was too amped and flew it on the backside of the ridge I was supposed to spin it off of and left my self a 35 foot must make up and over a ridge slight moving left to right. I hit it, and it is tracking so well...but it must've been a fraction right because it took the hardest lip i have ever see in my short 20 years of life. I legitimately thought I was going to shed a tear it was that shocking. So I lost by one. All in all I got what I wanted. Reps under pressure to learn my tendencies which I have figured out now, and to put myself in position to win a golf tournament. This sucks but you live and you learn. Next stop is Vancouver for the Monday Qualifier on May 29th.

I hate it for you, but if you can use it to step forward, it helps. We had sever lip-outs on several holes on our round yesterday. Tough course, where it was hard to keep any momentum going.

You played well on a tough course. So you are gearing up for the season really well.

Play well in Canada! I will watch for update
Thank you. I appreciate the support and hope to make the most of this situation!

Enjoy the chase.

Out at Eagle Point today. What an incredible course. It's a little beat up since they just hosted the Wells Fargo. I'll add some pics as I play the course

So they haven't put new greens in yet? Heard they were putting Bermuda in day after the tournament ended?

they're closing down the course this weekend and will reopen in roughly 2 months. The club wasn't going to miss out on the opportunity to have members bring out guests when grandstands are up and the course is even harder than it normally it is. I think switch to TifEagle is going to take the course to the next level
Enjoy the chase.

Finally just now made it to Vancouver. My first flight from Savannah to Toronto got delayed causing me to miss my 7pm connection flight. I'll get to the hotel around 2:30 am and will probably reschedule my practice round for the Monday q to a later time since I originally booked a morning tee time. Just glad to be here!
Enjoy the chase.

That wasn't any fun. I shot 77 and screwed my self from he start with a double bogey, bogey start. First hole of the day my ball ends up in a divot and then comes out hot way over the green. I never really recovered. 3 putted the 4th for par, didn't get up and down for birdie on 10, bogey on 11. Then my teeball ends up in the lip of a bunker on 14 and made another double.

I had no chance of getting through with how I played but I had some friends that were close and were very upset with the condition of Swaneset. The yardage markers were off, the par 3's had no yardages on them so it was a complete guessing game, there were a zillion divots, and also some of the pins were wrong on the sheet. There was a lot of guessing going on. On top of that there wasn't any water on the course, not even fountains.
I hope next week goes a little better.
Enjoy the chase.

Sorry to hear Chad. A lot of courses up here are still recovering but no excuse for the set up issues. Swaneset used to be a good track but since the ownership change a while back, has steadily gone downhill in most respects.

Not sure yet. Probably around -2 or -3 under. I was in the morning wave and there's another wave to go. It took almost 2 hours worth of tee times before our group came in and reported the wrong pins on the sheet.
Enjoy the chase.

Leaderboard - https://bcga.bluegol...leaderboard.htm

It will be red, probably -3 for a playoff, top 10 get spots..  The hardest ones to Monday for are the first 2, everyone wants in..  Go to Victoria early and play the course a TON.. get it so you know exactly where you want to hit each shot and get to know the greens..

I'm disappointed for all those that played if there was no Tour oversight for such set up issues for such an important qualifier.

That's what I was talking about earlier. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying these things because I played bad. Obviously some people played well today. But the general post round discussion between players was how poorly today was setup and run. For instance the 18th hole was 6 yards off on the pin sheet..18 feet..how do you mess up that bad. You would think there would be a little more attention to detail..how there is no water available is beyond me. Guys we're going to the restroom and filling up from the bathroom sink.

But it's over now. I'm looking forward to next week! I'll have plenty of time to get some work in at Gorge Vale where the next qualifier is.

Too bad Chad, it will be a good learning experience for you.
As a pro caddie, I can assure you that courses on the PGA and Web tours are not perfect when it comes to yardages/heads/plates etc.... But that's what guys pay a caddie for, to make sure that this stuff is taken care of but mostly so there is no guesswork when it comes to Tournament time.

Obviously, a caddie for a Monday on the Canadian tour is not an option, but instead of a practice round, I would advise you to walk the course with a putter and yardage book ( or if they don't have one, a notebook) and check heads, make notes, paying extra attention to par 3s and layup/covers. Make some notes about general green slopes.
I personally think this is way more beneficial than a practice round or banging balls on the range.

The last thing you want during your Monday is to guess, if you know what you're doing you're ahead of the field before you step on the tee box.

Nonetheless, I'm sure you will be better off next time you tee it up.
Good luck going forward.

I think this is a great reason why rangefinders should be allowed on the pro tours.

Pretty much sums it up...just the guys who didn't make it complain about course conditions.

I watched a guy need birdie on the last to have a chance and he hit a great shot just left of the hole. Or so he thought because when the ball came down he was 6 yards long. Why? Maybe because the pin sheet was off by that much. He was livid because things like that shouldn't happen. I'm sure guys that made it probably didn't like it either but why voice their opinions on it, they don't have to play it again and they're in the event. After the round I heard plenty of players talking about how terrible it was

yes sir but I do believe conditions like we had definitely negatively affects some more than others. I suppose making luck a bigger part of the equation. Much easier to stop a wedge on a firm green from a even lie in the fairway vs a divot. Or hit it close when the yardage you paced of from one sprinkler head is right vs the one a playing partner paced off from a sprinkler head that was off by 4-8 yards. Like I said in my first post about the course obviously it didn't affect some like it did others but that's where there's more luck involved vs a properly set up event
Enjoy the chase.

I played Swaneset on Friday and it was in the best shape I've ever seen it in.   The greens were perfect and fairways were fast and firm...i don't know what you expect from a public course that charges $65 and gets alot of play due to the great value.  How many divots did you land in??  Sounds like you need a caddie to deal with yardages, pin placements and keeping your bag stocked with water so you can just concentrate on golf.

Yes I agree the greens were about the only good thing. I expected exactly that from a public course that has a great $65 dollar deal. So we are agreeing on the conditions, but it's justified for a PGA Tour Canada Monday Qualifier because of the great value the public gets? If that's so I don't know what the issue is here. I played it, experienced the course and the way BCGA set up the event and it was poor. Others will testify to that.
Enjoy the chase.

I think its fair to say that most pros who have been around for a while will understand that there are some things during a tournament that you can control and some that you cant.
You can't control weather/draw/divots and general bad luck.....the good ones wont let any of this upset them, they accept it and move on.
You can control if a sprinkler head has the correct yardage on it, you can control if you are aware of green depths and cover numbers, you can control if you have a bottle of water in your bag etc etc.

Not to be harsh, but the sooner you can accept and be aware and understand that you can only be in control of certain things and you do the work to make sure you are, the better off you will be. Forget about the other stuff.

Move on, be better next time...
good luck
