would love to see something with ap2 like features with well calibrated lofts for the 5-12 hcp player. keep the PW at 46 with good launch/spin and really help us continue attacking the flag, but figure out how to help a bit with the longer irons without having absurdly strong lofts (no more 21 degree 4 irons). gonna keep the cf16 for now but later in the season when the swing is in form could totally see changing to something like what's being rumored. (plus, will help w/ the thin air in my new home in CO!)

No you can't say things like that, as I proved earlier in the thread. It shouldn't matter what the number on the bottom of the iron, or some such thing, was what I was told. I obviously agree with you, as it keeps the gapping and yardages we have grown familiar with without having to carry around 6 wedges.

One day someone's going to look down in their bag and find 8 wedges. And that's when it'll hit them. "OMG, I play blades" :-)

My point is that large gaps between the short irons and low gaps from the long irons makes gaps between irons very widely variable. I have 15-20 yards between my PW, 9, 8 and 7, then 10-15 to my 6, 10 to my 5, and 7-8 to my 4. That's crazy.

My hope is that there's a better gapping so that it's more like 10-15 between each predictably until you're at a 4 iron ish.

TBH I'm probably gonna get the 716ap2 anyway. Things look great and feel solid. May lose some distance but at least I'll have more accurate yardages when I'm actually trying to score. That for me is more important than having reproducible 210 yard shots regularly.

Does anyone know if the 718 T-MB's will be released in the US? I want one so bad it'll just cost $150 more if I get one here in Japan versus ordering from US.

Interesting that Titleist sold out the first limited sets of the C16s and now announced another offering of them without the requirement of them being fit by a Titleist fitter. At $3,000 they were a little pricey but they are longer distance wise than any of the steelhead irons, and significantly longer than PXG (similar price). They look better at address than most thick top line clubs. Everyone I know that has a set raves about them. Pretty successful run while the C16 drivers were a dud... the 917s were much better performers

I've been torn between the cb's and ap2's to replace the first gen ap2's I've had since they came out and then I read this... guess I'm gonna have to sit around til august . by the sounds of it ap3 will be exactly what I'm looking for. I can already hear my bank account sobbing as well.

Currently gaming 716 CBs which I think are the first big advancement they've had on players irons in a while and I thoroughly believe they will take elements from it and put into a newer AP2-ish model.  Also have a set of 716 TMB on the way to see if any little extra help can make a difference.  The 718 look to have "marginally" different weight placements on the heads so maybe it's slight changes for everything for 2018.

716 AP1's and the C16's share the exact same loft, lie and offset specs now.  C16, although a "limited issue" club, has been released twice and met with strong demand.  I could see Titleist migrating or adding in a forged AP1 or 1.5 into the line since they have the success of the C16 and Korean market forged AP1's to gauge market demand.

Is there a difference between the heads in the C16 from last year's release and this years model?  I realize the grip is different but the head and performance is what I am interested in knowing about.  I tested the C16 about a year ago and didn't see much difference between the two.  Thanks

Don't see why Japan gets a lot of Titleist options and NA gets a couple.
