The 716's were launched around September of 2015, so I think we'll see them by September of this year.

I spoke to Titleist rep who said they will be available in August and are adding a new product line to the mix, somewhere between the AP2 and CB.

I figured the C16 iron set would pave the way for a set between the AP1 and AP2, but I like the sound of an AP3 that combines the AP2 and CB.
I finally found a driver shaft I really like in the T1100, but I still plan on testing new shafts. I just got a pxg 0311T 3 and 4 iron, I might sub them in for the hybrids depending how I like them. I'm currently using a Toulon Indianapolis, but I am also testing an Evnroll ER7

Is something really needed between AP2 and CB?

Or does this mean the next AP2 gets more GI features from AP1 (sort of an AP1.5) and the AP1 moves toward SGI and takes on some extra bulk?

It's a good question, I couldn't get more out of the rep than where it would fit in the product line.  I would guess the AP1 becomes more like the JPX900 Hot Metal, the AP2 like the JPX900 Forged and the AP3? like the JPX900 Tour then they will keep the CB and MB for their low handicap players like Mizuno does with their MP line.

This is my guess as well given that I have been told the same from the rep I talked to. As an MB player, I don't really care what they change so long as I can keep getting those clubs in something that I don't need to bend 4 degrees weak to get lofts I'm used to.

This was my hope as well.  The current AP1's and C16's have the same length, loft and offset specs now.  I was hoping the limited concept C16's would essentially migrate to the general product line in the form of a forged AP1.

Why would you need to tweak lofts for that purpose? Do your expected lofts need to match the number printed on the sole?

I bet the AP2 goes to a spring face design along the lines of the Apex and the 900 Forged. Then the AP3 or whatever they call it  becomes the AP2

AP3 will have stronger lofts and be Titleist's offering that caters for the golfer that likes to hit their 7 iron (strong lofted) 220 yards lol.

The Forged AP1 sold in Japan was so sick looking and I would absolutely buy a set if they were released in the US.  In my opinion there is as much of a need for an "AP1.5" between the AP1 and AP2 as there is for an "AP3" btwn the AP2 and CB...

CB to AP2 seems like a pretty small gap to bridge.  Maybe they'd get a small incremental increase in sales, but I would think a lot of "AP3" sales would cannibalize AP2 or CB sales.

There seems to be more room to push the AP1 a small amount towards the SGI category, and slot something in between that and the AP2.  Of course they could probably just rename that middle club AP2 and rename the AP2 replacement as AP3.

Got to be bringing the forged AP1s into the global market if they're introducing anything and I bet they would sell. A lot of other companies have irons that are forged but more forgiving than the AP2

CB is not going away. AP3 is a new iron in the lineup, not a rebadge.
