Just heard that 2 of the top 15 in the World rankings will be using a new Driver from Cleveland. A thin sp-700 beta titanium crown, and its got some new weight plug technology in the sole.

Also Cleveland will modify their branding. Do away with the "Cleveland" and go with the "CG" for the logo for now on.

Also the color scheme is changing to Red, White and Blue colors. No more white.

I dont know anything yet. I am excited though. The Comp Driver is one of my all time favorites. This to be better??? Get ready for the driver wars. This is all Ti, no composites.

CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had my mind set on a 905R now I don't know what to do. Cleveland drivers are so underestimated and this one just looks awesome. Guess I'm gonna have to be a Cleveland fella again.

Understand that this is stated as SLE (Conforming..?) and its a very new release, possibly a Japanese market only product. Its listed on www.cleveland.co.jp.

Nice looking driver, so no more composite. So only Callaway next year with a composite driver?

The Cleveland drivers are real "sleepers". I have one of the original 460 Launchers with a Fuji MW54 ZCOM that was graciously "given" to me by GOLFWRX and installed by Kwok for some tourney pics and I LOVE it! I really like the Cleveland stuff and this new driver looks SWEEEEEEET! I like the new color scheme. Thanks for the pics!

I love Cleveland drivers, I love Cleveland period. But this driver has me wondering, I just found something that has taken the Comp out of the bag. I guess I'll just hafta test this type J with the R7 425 TP when I get them..........

Look at this...more "eye candy" for 2006. I was real tempted to pull the trigger on a tour comp that JC listed yesterday, but now I may just have to wait for on of these. They look amazing.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the pics. I thought I read here and several other boards that the new driver was going to incorporate some kind of "halo technology" on the crown???

Personally seen and hit that driver, I believe its called the Launcher X, think enlarged and rounder Halo with a back / crown that has been run over by a scholl bus. Seriously butt ugly IMHO but the damn thing is silly easy to hit. I actually may be able to get one....

This driver is not going to be the flagship driver for Cleveland from what I have heard. Not that you can't wait for one but this may be for the Japanese market only.

Bingo, I thinking the same thing......

Oh man, another great head from Cleveland. As you can tell by reading my sig, I only play cleveland woods. For some reason, they fit me very well, and they are long!!!!!!! I'm holding onto my original Launcher because the shaft/head combo is the best I've ever used: Ball go far, really really far. I guy tried to sell me the new one at a golf shop, but it wasn't as long as my original, so I didn't buy. But, this thing right here is something I'll buy in 2007, after my current driver loses it's pop. :kewlpics:

Lets just hope that if this club is released to the US market the tour versions have a .335 tip. The 350 tip is another thing that i just don't like dealing with, shims, etc.

As pieces of the puzzle come together I think the Launcher X head is the one that Singh and Toms Might be going to.

I think TSG had pics awhile ago of this driver. I think CG has been getting too many defective Comp heads, hence why they are moving away from the technology. Looks like it has a similar profile to the Comp though, which is a VERY good thing IMO.

God Bless

^ Just about all Cleveland heads since the original 460 have had a similar profile. It's what's inside that counts.

From the pictures, I am not seeing the 'Halo-Like' Head style, is it there? I am liking the look of it though.

I heard rumors that Cleveland is releasing the CG1's in a black finish, could this be true, or just rumors as of now?

Thanks, Bryan

Not on the J head above. They are talking about another "Halo" designed driver that is different. Here is the Halo stretched out in photoshop. The mere thoughts of a driver that has a look of the Halo dent on the sole make me want to vomit. Sounds tricky.

With that plug weight closer to the heel of the club won't that promote a draw? Wouldn't this club favour poorer players who slice the ball?

May be at the same time - both deploy a ultra thin Titanium crown. I reckon the Type J is more a Japanese market product with possibly a slightly higher COR (yet legal).

to me it looks like some sort of weight but it looks like it can be removed and replaced with other weights because it has the 3 semi-circles with holes for a tool of some sort. Not sure though.

Mike704, I think you are totally off. I think you can buy the club with a preset weigh distrabution. Like the Callaway Ft-3 fusion. You will probally get it in a fade, draw, and neutral.
Hahahahaha
Just giving you a hard time. But thats what i think.
