I'm old (64) and I beat most of the young players at our course. They don't get too mad.

When we go off for our high school tryouts every year, we have to start off at six am so that the old man's game can start at 7. Then they will catch up with the last group to go off from our school and hit into us so that we will let them through. Then we have to wait for all the groups to go through, creating a 4 hour nine hole match.  So to answer the original question, yes.

haha this thread is good! there is loads of men like this at my club. having said that the majority of them are fine. its just the guys that all stand on the tee with their matching cobra ld's (or similar) and then give you a lecture on how golf should be a traditional game and how technology is ruining it. and then the 4 of them wont let u through until 17 tee when they just 'realise' your behind them.

Majority are fine, but you get the ones that are set in their ways that are rude and stubborn and wont let you through no matter what. Even when i was working at my course and there was no one infront of them and i asked them if we could play through, they still said no, and i told them i worked there and they still didnt care, so i waited a couple of holes until we got to the driveable par 4 at our course and just let one go while they were walking up to the green, stuck it on there, they naturally had a go at me, i told them i asked politely and i was just sticking to the rules of golf if they wernt going to stick to them or etiquette.

I added if my ball could reach the green before they could walk there then they must be playing too slow!

If they be awkward, then be twice as awkward back!

I enjoy playing with anyone - juniors, old women, any handicap, etc. it doesn't matter. As long as you are a decent person. The only thing that bothers me about juniors is that some can outdrive me with their 4wood!

Jamie - you might be the exception. Juniors with your attitude are the reason for threads like this. I would've kicked your a$$ and made sure that you no longer worked there. If you have a problem with the group in front, talk to the ranger and let him handle it.

I enjoy playing with good people. I don't care if you're 14, 44 or 84, male or female, low hcp or high hcp. I don't care. But if you act like an a$$, that's what you are and that's how you will be treated. If you're a junior, unfortunately you make other juniors look bad, too.

The world doesn't owe you anything. You have to earn your place. I suggest you do it with kindness and respect. Nobody really cares how good of a golfer you are unless you're bringing home million dollar checks. Until then, show some respect and grow up!.

I'm an old guy, but I would kick myself in the nuts if I ever caught myself behaving badly to juniors (or anyone else for that matter).

Keep in mind that the old guys who are *****s (and there are a couple at every course) are generally a-holes to everyone, not just juniors. It is their lot in life to be unhappy, and that is their punishment.

This thread has some priceless responses! :)
