I've been wondering how frequently most folks replace their golf shoes. For a while now I've been buying my shoes 2 pairs at a time and alternating between those pairs each day (I play almost every day). I've been eyeing some shiny new footjoys again recently but since my current pairs are less than 6 months old I'm wondering if I'm nuts to change again so soon.

Another factor is that I have recently committed to my current bag setup so no more obsessing about clubs !! Gotta Ho on something right ??

Hey, this is a forum of club hos. Nothing wrong with being a bit of a fashion ho too. 6 months is waaaayyyy to long in between shoes. In all seriousness, they probably haven't worn out, but I can guarantee they don't look amazing, especially if you play nearly everyday. So sure, go ahead and pull the trigger on the new ones. And yeah, alternating pairs is a good idea. Looks better, and will make the shoes wear more evenly.

We all gotta ho something! and my conscience won't let me ho clubs anymore. So it's onto fashion.

Usually buy new shoes every 2 years. Alternating shoes when you play frequently will help them last longer, as will a set of cedar shoe trees.

This is something that I have been struggling with recently since I tend to walk about 80% of my golf. Right now I am about every 30-40 round since the heels (coushin inside the shoe) tends to wear out from all the walking. I own 3 pairs right now and wear them all depending on the course and the look that I need and comfort needed.

I have two pairs which I alternate. I also alternate buying them so I get a new pair every year, and hoping they last two years. I use cedar shoe trees which helps as well

A new pair every 1-2 years. I would like to alternate but right now only have one pair. I learned that golf shoes almost always go on seasonal sale in the fall. This next fall I am buying two pair for sure.

To the OP, I am jealous that you play every day....

That being said, I would suggest alternating shoes every day if not adding in a third pair. I own two pairs and always look to add more!

I alternate 2 pairs (same shoe) and replace them pretty much every year.
But then I play A LOT of golf AND walk as well.

So 100+ rounds at 8km/round....it's easy to see why I replace as much as I do.

i play 6 days a week. i tend to buy 4-5 pairs throughout the year (could be more....i do love me some new shoes). since i play so much, i rotate shoes all the time. i have a couple pair from 2 years ago that are now 'bad weather' shoes. i'd say right now in the shoe bag (it's a club glove suitcase....LOL) there are no less than 10 pair in the steady rotation.

my golf shoe life should get a little bit longer since i moved from a 12 month golf season to...well.....whatever it is here. haven't quite figured it out yet.....hopefully i'll get in some range time soon.




question: anyone in my area know of a dome or a good heated range?

Generally, I have two pairs of shoes:
1. Last years shoes; and
2. This years shoes.

If the conditions are wet or likely to get my shoes overly dirty, I wear last years shoes. On dry sunny days, I wear this years shoes.

Each winter, I throw away last years shoes and buy a new pair. Using this strategy, I always have a nice looking pair for when I need them and a pair I don't mind getting a little messy.


PLUS: I have a set of tournament shoes. They are always spotless and ready to go for when I play with clients or in tournaments.

Well I have 13 pairs of classics right now. I find that as long as you take great care of them they will last a LONG time. I usually get a pair a year. Prolly two this year because they have some nice styles commin out.

I golf over 10 rounds every week (April-October), and I would say I do 2-3 pair a year, rotating them in I sweat like crazy so I destroy shoes pretty quick. Nothing but Tour 360's.

I have not bought shoes in two years. I have 5 pair that I alternate all are about 2-4 years old. Two pairs of black. one pair black on white saddle, one pair brown on white saddle and one pair of brown. I just got to a point that I didn't like any of the new styles more than what I have and the ones I have are still in excellent condition. I average two rounds a week 6-8 months out of the year 50/50 walking or riding. I take two trips a year that I will play multipe rounds in concecutive days. I never wear the same shoes two days in a row and for those rare days I play 36 holes change shoes. When the round is over I knock any dirt/mud off the shoes, then I wipe the shoes down with a soft clean cloth or my golf towel, I put the cedar shoe trees in and I'm done. On ocassion I will use a FJ cream that acts as a conditioner and polish. It comes in black, white, brown and some other colors, it's easy to use and not expensive at all. With all that said I may get a pair of solid white shoes this season, it will be a hard choice i am typically not a all white shoe fan but I have seen some that don't look too bad.

I've got about 10 in rotation. I play or practice nearly every day to so having fresh shoes is a must.

1 pair for 6 years (1st gen Nike TW). I don't have to worry about wetness as much here in AZ so that probably helps. I definitely don't play as much as most of you but I think its time for a new set this season.

I rotate through about 10-15 pairs of shoes, and acquire about 6-8 pairs a year. I play and practice every day 8 months of the year and refuse to take carts, so having multiple pairs of shoes is a must. I have shoes for different wardrobes, different conditions (Powerbands and Tour Metal II's for rainy/wet days), for practice (Nike Shox and Adidas ClimaCool Blaze), and tournaments (Tour 360 II's and LTD's for shorts, Classics and Ecco's for pants).
I keep shoe trees in my Ecco's and Classics and keep them in shoe bags, I have Dr. Scholl's inserts in all my shoes, change out spikes in every shoe every month, and clean most pairs every week.

For playing every day I would suggest having more than 2 pairs, or at least getting some inserts or something. Your foot will wear away the heel of the shoe and cause your foot to contour to the shoe and create disalignment throughout your body. Thats why Adidas calls apparel "Equipment for your body".

Two pairs I alternate- I wear/ use them until they start taking on water/ fall apart/ look crappy/ something sexy is on special somewhere when I am traveling. Tend towards black leather shoes, they are easy to maintain with basic polish and stay looking good long after the lining is falling to pieces

I usually get a pair to last about 9 months.

8 to 9 rounds a month. I tend to be a toe dragger on tee shots.
I also tend to jog a bit on the course so I pound the soles to death fast.

Even the cedar trees complain when I insert them .

If you have shoes with leather bottoms you need to use mink oil every once in a while. It keeps the leather from drying out and cracking. when that happens the shoes done... needs to be resoled.
