We're looking to add one more course in between the Huntsville-Scottsboro area in Northern Alabama. I'm familiar w/ all of the RTJ courses and would prefer something different. However, I'm not sure if there are a lot of options in between there. We've ventured down to Gunter's Landing in the past which is always nice.

Any suggestions?

Check out Goose Pond in Scottsboro, AL. They have two courses, Goose Pond Colony and Goose Pond Plantation. Great layouts, extensive wildlife and natural plants. Amazing views of the Tennessee River and Lake Guntersville. Both are located between Huntsville and the Gunter's Landing course that you've already played. Check them out at www.goosepond.org Also, there is another great course in Scottsboro called Broken Arrow Golf Course. It is a well-kept secret, great service and very well kept course. Also very cheap for the quality. I believe weekend rounds are $25 for 18 holes and that includes cart fees. www.brokenarrowgolf.com

COncur with the Goosepond courses, I prefer Colony of the two. Broken Arrow is a strange course. Will just leave it at that.

Goose Pond Colony is a good one, to be sure. I used to live in Scottsboro.

If you get stuck without a place to play and/or can't get on anywhere else, the course at the Guntersville State Park will do. No water that I can remember and it's just standard state park fare, but if you couple that with a night's stay at the beautiful lodge they have up there you'll probably remember it more favorably.

Lake Guntersville State Park golf course is closed for about 6 months for renovations. I was down there on May 2-9 and they had torn up the greens and looked like they were installing new irrigation. But I agree it a nice course. Very scenic and long, with a good variety of holes. Look forward to playing it once it reopens.

Play Gunter's Landing if you are looking for a course down that way. Fun course!
