If you want soft, go OnOff. The 2011/2013 forged and 2015 Kuro are awesome. The 2014 CB358 are a smaller CB compared to the others, similar to Yamaha tours, but no doubt feel very similar in feel. The new 2017 forged look like a marriage of the CB358 and Kuro's. Enjoy.

DUDE, these look GOOD.  Not sure I trust his descriptions all the time, but he did say "crisp but soft" and that bothers me a little?  Have you hit them?  Anyone?  if these are as soft as my ID BL PRGR I think I would strongly consider this.  There is a set for $375 now on auction and I just need to reshaft with modus because I don't want DGS200.
Probably not helpful but I had a set of the 900 tr md muscle cavities which were a beautiful looking head but harsh feeling when compared to Epon. Liked everything about them EXCEPT the feel so I moved them on.
Sorry to be a kill joy in this thread but I know Bigmean is very astute/picky about his irons so not just any JDM will do.
Bigmean have you considered going older in your search? Tourstage have had some great player cb models in the past. I still have a set of TS201 irons that virtually tick all your boxes. Compact, soft feel, low offset good amount of forgiveness on heel misses. Can also be found cheap  :)

The TR500's might be the hardest clubs a person could try and describe.  Soft with tremendous feel. Rather that crisp I would say solid. The feedback is unmatched. When you hit the ball you know exactly where you've hit the ball on the club right up to which groove it came off of. You can't wait to hit the next shot to experience the feeling again.

Above all, if you're a player they just flat out perform. All the workability of a blade and decent forgiveness for a small players CB.

I bought a set when they were released, 3-PW inc. the 52-56-60 wedges.  I'll never sell this set. They are a pleasure to play with.

Well, I bought a set of Wilson staff V4s with modus 130 shafts that only had the 7 and 9 hit a few times for $375.

I have wanted to try the 130s, and instead of overcomplicating it I went with the sure thing which is that I know mentally I like the V4 at address coming from the BBs.  Sure the feel is nothing to write home about, and not what I really wanted there, but for sub $400 for a set that I will only rotate in when I need a pacifier or want one, and in a package that at addresss is pleasing, really feel is only box not ticked, and for the secondary set that is ok.  I remember them feeling firmer from last time I hit them, but really not bad.  I have hit them next to the titliest cbs and Mizuno at the PGA SS and my impressions of them have always been that if they didn't say Wilson it would be a much more popular players iron.  The deal came up and I figured I need to stop dicking around with this and this opportunity was close enough with no effort.....

My first non Japanese irons since my vfoil macgregors from 3 years ago I got as a novelty, and those aside since the 962s I got in 1998.  I hope I am not too prissy for these....
Ryoma Maxima 9.5*/Quadra Fire Express
    913F 15*/Tour AD MT7
    Roddio 21* hybrid/Tour AD DI75
    Miura 1957 small blades/Nippon 1150 tours
Wilson Staff V4 tour modus 130
            Mizuno MP-14/DG300-raw finish
    Buchi 50/56. RomaRo 59
Gold's Factory custom original flat-stick amongst a couple dozen others.

I know Honma is sort of seen as losing a little sheen, but I think these are incredible irons ... they are like a Mercedes diesel - functional and rock solid with enough elegance.

Honma's are the bomb.  I've got a set of 717m's and they're as good a blade as any out there.  Pleasing to the eye with great turf interaction.  Not the CB, but you know where you hit it on the club face immediately and the craftsmanship is certainly top notch.

I know you said you don't want Miura - but the CB 57's are really a great club - I just built a set with recoil f4s and they are fantastic.

Isn't there a JDM player's CB by Miura that isn't available in the U.S.?

I have the lefty CB's, a couple of sets actually, and love them.  I was out practicing today and thinking I play better because I look forward to the feel at impact.

Don't know why they don't release a basic CB in the USA.  I'd try and see if you could get Tour Spec or someone to import you a set.  Best feeling clubs I've played but I haven't hit a ton of JDM's being a lefty and all.

I found it... it's the CB-2006

Or these CB-1006's look incredible...

I went with the Wilson staff V4s and modus 130s.  I am loving the shafts, and I got the set new for $375, so far I have used them in a round and a scramble and very happy.   It JDM,  it that is fine by me, very underrated iron set.  Really not stand out anywhere but just solid and for a back up CB change of pace set it is cheap and perfect, and I have spent the extra funds on more putters which always makes me happy.
