Anyone here hit or have the masda prototype blades?  The ones that say masda golf in cursive in the muscle.

Any insight would be helpful.  I currently have Miura small blades and someone said in the blades thread they liked these better, which is enough to peak my interest, but moreso that they are also compact and similar.  I am not sure if I want another set of blades really, but these are at the top of my intrigue list, and any real feedback is appreciated.  I have a Masda putter that I like, but I don't know anything about their irons, like do they feel more like MIura, Endo, Mizuno etc.

Thanks

tpretty close  to my   fave irons.
low launch ( get a high launch shaft set!)
avoid Dg/ctapers , they go crap  !!!
all mine have  different  NS  models  In them,  STx....modus 120x....2g18x soft stepped(insane feel/ performance!!)
all of these are magnificent match, the test club with the Dgs200  I hit 3 balls and bought a set, then another , then another
anti left. these are hard  to draw.
the long hosel makes for a fade.

feel is very soft dense.
not epon, /mizzy /onoff...

but miura sb01s,, ??
yes sure pretty similar actually  totally diff shape to the isms  but  as a rule I prefer these over my isms  recently actually.

not found a grass the  don't  go well on form lush sodden Asian to hard core buffalo.

in the wind on links I play the NS120X  set pretty much exclusively now.

cant fault them IF u like  low  controlled  and fantabulous feel.

ive  prob got a set of these to go next month if anyones after a set of gamers, let me know.
prob the 120x set.

not that forgiving, but in a weird way they are not  as theatrical as the honmas. mizzzies. more rounded irons, they are very much point  shoot. with a fade bias, which I absolutely love.

I bought a set recently with PXi 6.0 shafts in them. I agree with Tsupo about the low launch. I haven't taken them to the course yet, and have only hit the 4, 6, and 9i at the range off mats, but I like them so far. Well, to be honest, the first time I hit them I wasn't that taken with them, but after that they grew on me. Nice compact head, which I like, and the feel is certainly different. They claim to be forged in Japan, so I'd be interested to find out where. Kyoei?
Incidentally, mine don't have the cursive script, but I am pretty sure they are prototypes. Same shape, but may be custom stampings. Or knock-offs.... :no2:

I didn't realize you had these no catchy.  Tsupo sorta said what I was thinking about them, but the fade bias is super interesting.

Shaft info helps.

Woukd these be redundant with small blades as gamers?  I almost don't care as maybe the question is if I like the miuras are these something I will also likely enjoy?

I bought them in early February, just before going back to Britain for 2 weeks, so I haven't had that much chance to hit them. They were sort of an impulse buy. I walked into the shop, saw them sitting there still unpriced as they had just been traded in, and asked the price: 14,000 yen. Well, I thought the shafts alone would be worth that so I told the guy to hold them for me. I went back home, got a 3 wood I wasn't needing, and traded that in against the Masdas. I ended up paying 4,000 yen in cash for them. What's that, about $35?
The reason for the low price in the first place was a) they're blades, b) they were stamped KO, presumably the previous owner's initials. Doesn't bother me.  From now on, I shall be known as Kimura Osamu!

Anyway, I can't compare them to the small blades as I have never hit them, but I would guess that the SBs are even more compact.

Incidentally, I haven't found any fade bias with them, but that's probably not surprising as right now I can't hit a fade to save my life. One interesting fact: when I got the lies and lofts checked, the guy in the shop found the hosel lengths of the 8i~PW was 5mm shorter than the other irons. I don't if that is common to all their sets.

Are we talking same ones for sure?  Super square toe like the link?  I haven't found them lower than 50,000yen on average and there is/was a set that started low with like 34 bids and 3 days left at 25,000yen range.  I am in no hurry, I will happily pay double for yours when you inevitably Ho them!   Hahahahaha.   Seriously, they have a few different blades, if you got these for 14,000 yen, put them on yahoo auction and triple your money.  Kenshin Ogiwanazori will pay that in a heartbeat!

Yep, I'm pretty sure. I posted some pics in the blade users thread: http://www.golfwrx.c...0#entry14887906

The font on the back is different, but it checks out. See the picture of the copper finish 3i on the Masda website (near the top).
http://masdagolf.com...ft.html#btnArea
It might be an older non-conforming model, as they changed the lineup in 2011, but the shape is identical to the current Masda Protos.

they are much older than the latest 3 mb  morphings , . the  so called  "protos." .
are conforming and totally different to the ones  you have, there is another  model releaed this year that is different again.
the version 2. or "protos" are 140k  sans tax, shafts  and shipping.
I like the ones  u have, never seen those before.  if u ever get sick of them let me know ill re do them and put em in play!

Thanks for the clarification. Incidentally, I can only see 2 basic mb offerings on the site, the Protos and Fastbacks.

Going off the pictures, mine look a lot like the protos (but with different stampings), except that with mine the back of the toe has been ground off.

Might contact Masda and see if they can tell me anything more about them.

As for your offer, well, I'd like to play a round with them first to see how I get on with them, but if I do decide to get rid of them, I'll let you know!
How would you redo them? Different finish?

So you think I've got the pre version 2 model? I honestly don't know, but that would make sense. I'm tempted to e-mail Masda and ask. Incidentally, I love the look of the new Fastbacks. Have you tried them?
And the copper finish on the Masda site looks fantastic :man_in_love:

u have one of the older models.
just before the latest 2017  "current version" ,  there are 2  slightly older versions of the same head /models.
yours are not those.
the prior 2 are   very similar  but one is longer slimmer,
one is shorter thicker,
you have to look hard to see the differences but they are there.
ur ones pre date the latest 3 models.

not tried the latest blades yet from kyoei.
cant wait ,  just trying to see which of my sets I wud sacrifice to get a set tho.
pretty tough ask,

They look great Catchy. Of all their lineups I'd say Masda has stayed pretty consistent and not strayed too far off the beaten path. I'm still waiting on my fast blades to show up. Going on 60 days.

I think kaaayell had a set of copper Protos. They looked amazing. Surprised he hasn't chimed in yet.

I really like the look of the fast blades. At a recent iron testing, the Masdas performed worst of all my irons for me, but I think their lies may be off. Hands felt very low at set up. I like the compact head, though.

I wouldn't. I tried to "buff out" a ding like that on an old set of PP9003s... made things worse with the coating. And I still had the ding. Different brand I know, but would be cautious on doing something like that.

You'd have to strip it and then do some grinding before refinishing, or strip, weld, grind, refinish if you don't want to lose any weight.
