Instead of using the same weights as in the past, the went for the money grab. They f'd this up royally.

This was not a "money grab" IMO.

I have had a lot of discussion surrounding the weight kits ever since before pre-release, and have talked to some people that have some knowledge on it.

I would call it more of a "mix-up".

I have the Tank Cruiser weight kit and they do not fit in the O-Works 7S. It's no mix-up, it's a money grab.

I know they don't fit.  I wish they did also

We will just have to agree to disagree on the money grab.  I am not going in to the back story on this.

I wish you would so that maybe I'll understand. Otherwise, there is no reason to use different size weights.
My guess is that they never intended for consumers to change out the weights.  The weights are an easy way to maintain the balance of the putter at different lengths when they are built.  They didn't want to make the weight kits.  I'm sure it's more trouble than its worth for the few hundred they are going to sell.  Consumers demanded the weights so they had to scramble to make a weight kit that could be sold retail.  I'm telling you that these companies love to talk about fitting and customization but the reality is they want you to buy a club off the rack and if it doesn't work, buy another one.  They don't want us tweaking clubs so they fit perfectly and we can keep them forever.  Rant complete.

I don't understand why these companies try so hard to keep us from customizing their products and then turn around and act like they love "fitting"

My guess would be because of all the tinkering which would lead to defective or broken product. You give the customer the option to "mess" with their product, and they screw up, Callaway would be liable for the replacement since they encouraged it by providing it. If they don't provide the means to adjust past a certain extent, and the customer does anyways, it voids any warranty on the product.

I know it is just adjusting screws but keep in mind this old quote.  "Make something idiot proof and society will build a better idiot."

Then why introduce changeable weights and weight kits in so many of their previous lines? And if that is their reasoning, make the weights in these the same as the others and tell the customer to pound sand and go find the thousands of weight kits already out there. It's a no-brainer.

I'm still waiting for a valid reason why the weights in these would be different than the many lines they have into'd here and overseas that use the same weights.

It's not to make money, it's probably because these weights are cheaper than the old weights.  The tank cruiser was specifically designed to have interchangeable weights and that was marketed.  These were not.

I am not going to be a "dick" and copy and paste a PM about this.  I don't feel the need to try and get "street cred"

Everyone will have an opinion on the whole thing and they are entitled.  I think most just want the ability to be able to purchase one.

So looks like I'll be tossing on 10g of lead tape to my #1? Ordered it at 360g and no counter weight, but it still feels a bit light to me.

It just feels like they veered off a path they had been on for a while.

I'm sure I'm coming off as abrasive. I'll hop off the rant train.

I can honestly understand it. Allows the user to fit themselves to a certain extent. And they sell a lot of product in the meantime. IMO, a fully adjustable/customizable putter that you can tweak yourself with included "idiot proof" fitting instructions would sell like hot cakes. Doesn't mean they're discouraging fitting. It means they're putting that stuff straight into the users hands.
I don't follow.

Basically, I'm saying bypass the club fitter.  Put the fitting process straight into the hands of the consumer...

I sent customer service an email yesterday asking for an eta to buy the offered heavier weights and just waiting on any response. Has anyone received any type of indication when the mentioned 20gram weights or the 25gram weights will be available for purchase?

Any news?  My first round with the 7s I one putted the first 5 holes.  Just need a little more weight.  I did go to Lowes and got some small brass washers and put 3 in each weight cavity.  It helped but I'm guessing it's only a few grams.

For me with all the time I spent customer tailoring my HD lead tape to get my swing weight up to C8, I am not sweating the release of the weights any more.  In fact I may never see the bottom of my 2M CS ever again LOL...

I got a o-works Tank 7 today and was surprised at how light it was, like most of the posters here.  The website says 375g but it feels much lighter.  I may have missed it, but what are the weights of the standard red swirly weights?  I think I'm going to lead tape it up to feel, like peppering up a steak to taste....

I just took the weights out of my 2W to throw some lead tape in them and they are closed off now. No choice but to wait for a weight kit now.

I added tungsten putty and it definitely helped. Didn't weigh it but probably added 14g total.

Just purchase a #1 Tank and the stock weights are both 20 grams. Just figured I would share that information. If somebody could post what the weights are of the non tank versions, I'm sure it would help everybody. Also, the Super Stoke grips do not come with any butt weights. You have to purchase it for an extra $10.

The tanks come with 20g stock, the 7s models come with 10g stock, and I believe the rest come with 15g stock (o-works line).  I am not 100% sure on the 2-ball, think it is also 15g stock.

So us 7s users could buy the 1W and swap the weights assuming they are the same size.

Who did you email? I'd like a weight kit for sure. I have a #1W now, too and I really don't want to toss all kinds of lead tape on the bottom.

Also what type and size wrench do you need to unscrew?
