Heading down to Myrtle during the second week in April. The course we're playing are:

Brierwood
Oyster Bay
Barefoot Resort (don't know which course)
The Witch
Prestwick
The Wizard

Any feedback on the these courses is most appreciated!

The Dye Club at Barefoot can be a butt kicker from the tips. I really enjoyed the few times I played it a few years back. I hear the Love course there is really nice.

I played Prestwick and The Witch last April and enjoyed both courses. Prestwick is a decent track, plays on the shorter side, but there was a fair bit of water/trees/houses to contend with if you go astray. There were quite a few memorable holes and the course was in wonderful condition, you should enjoy it! The Witch was routed through a deeply wooded area, almost marshy in places. I'd bring the insect repellent, you'll need it for a few holes on the front. Overall, though, I enjoyed it a little better than Prestwick. It played slightly longer and was a bit more challenging, definately required a well struck/placed tee ball. I've played the Barefoot courses in the past and enjoyed them all, can't really choose a strong favourite and don't want to spoil the fun by picking a different course than the one you end up on. It sounds like you have a good trip planned there, nice way to start the season. It's snowing here today, so I'm obviously wicked jealous!!

I love The Witch. Very scenic, not very long, played it over a dozen times. Greens are usually in decent shape medium speed. Just a pretty course. Prestwick is ok played it a couple times just not recently. The Wizard has 9 pretty good holes and 9 that are just boring and non descript, I would opt for Man-O-War right next door, def a more interesting track. Briarwood sucks plain and simple. One of the worst in MB. Oyster Bay is another one of my favs down there. I love the layout, although I have friends who dont like it at all. Some great holes and great views. I have not played any of the Barefoot courses.

Thanks for the info guys. Unfortunately the trip is all set, and I was asked to go, so I can't change any of the courses. You can't win 'em all as they say but overall it seems like a pretty good trip!

I like the layout of the Wizard better then Man-O-War right now only because the low water level from the drought makes MOW a little 'ugly' with H2O on every hole. The condition of the greens at Wizard are a little better as they get more sun from the lack of shade like MOW. THe Wizard is more open and some of the holes are a little boring...but so are a few holes at MOW, like 2 through 8. Both are great and fun courses though and I would recommend both...the Wizard right now is a little better looking since the low water levels hurt the look at MOW.

Prestwick starts out extremely hard but eases up after the first few holes and there are some really nice holes after that. It's an odd bird, quite different from most courses in the use of the terrain and a lot of railroad ties. It has a Scottish feel to it with some nasty bunkers (stay away from the greenside bunkers on 9) but all in all enjoyable.
