I played these again, I am convinced they are an nxt tour type ball. Short game and green side spin is not there. Great ball, not worth the money for the performance that you get. It is just missing the urethane bite you get from better balls.

driver: SRIXON Z745
fairway: NIKE VAPOR 13*
3-4 IRON: MIZZY MP H5 GD AMT X100.
5-PW IRONS: MP5 DG AMT X100
WEDGES; CLEVELAND rtx 3.0 RAW
PUTTER; PING SIGMA G SHEA H
BALL; various, ask me that day.

I see you in Snell thread.  How does MTB work out for you?

As said, Vivid XT is slightly harder than MTB but performs like it for me.

i didn't think these two balls where anything alike. both are decent, the snell MTB didn't perform to well for me from tee to green, i felt it flew too high and didn't hold up well but was great around the greens. The vivid performed well in everything except shots 50 yard and in and green side shots. if the VIVID XT had a softer cover i think it could be the perfect ball.

Hahaha, something between XT and MTB would be your gamer.  What ball suits you the best then?  My guess is low-compression urethane tour balls.

I like the srixon xv and chrome soft x balls. I have been playing the vice pro plus for a bit and it is pretty good but the srixon and Calloway balls have better green side spin and feel. I may give the vivid ball bubba plays a shot. The s4 I think it is called.

Did you game regular Vivid, not Vivid XT?  Though ball performance is super subjective, your short game experience sounds like regular Vivid version.  Just curious.

I haven't been able to get in touch with any Volvik reps about the XT... in fact, Volvik hasn't responded to my request for additional information and it has been a week. I have no idea what is going on over there, but the lack of communication has me puzzled. I have store managers trying to get info from their reps and no luck there either.

Got my dozen pink's and took them to the practice green last night. I hope the feel and distance off full swings makes up for the way they feel on the green. I was putting with 3 balls. My Vice Pro, a Chrome Soft, and the VIVID XT. I'd putt with my 2 normal balls first, and every single time, the XT would come up 1-2 feet short. I just can't get this ball to the hole. It feels very...lightweight? It's the exact same issue I had with the Vice Pro Soft's. The Chrome Soft is my favorite feeling ball off the putter face. But the XT's just felt kind of hard, hollow, and light. So far, I prefer the regular Vivid on the putting green compared to the XT.

The regular Vivid (same matte finish as the XT, right?) literally rolls out less on the putting green than a normal ball. I'd think your XT may be the same.

I've confirmed it by rolling a regular Srixon ball and a matte-finish Vivid down a small inclined ramp and onto the green. They both roll out similar distances but if they're rolling, say, 20 feet or so the Vivid will stop a foot or two shorter most times.

You can feel that the surface of the Vivid is not slick and "shiny" feeling like a normal ball. Whatever they do to de-gloss it and make it not reflect as much light makes it slightly less smooth feeling. Rub one on a slick surface like a tabletop and you can feel it dragging more than other balls.

That's actually the thing I like best about the Vivid, other than the bright color. On really slick downhill putts I can make a little more of a normal putting stroke rather than trying to deaden it out on the toe or just barely touch it. That's a good thing in my book. But on the practice green if I mix putting with a Vivid and some other ball it will drive me crazy because the pace just isn't the same. To me a Vivid makes a green Stimping 10-11 feel like it is a foot slower.
Everything has its drawbacks, as the man said when his mother-in-law died, and they came down upon him for the funeral expenses.

Yeah, I feel like I'll really have to commit to them to get them going. Get a few rounds in with ONLY using them the entire time. We'll see how they work on a quick twilight 18 tonight!

I think it is funny that this ball is so hard to pin down as to what category it falls into.

I'm still perplexed that NOBODY at Volvik will answer the question for me. Can't get to a rep, can't get a response direct from them, etc. There was a member on here who pretty much knew everything about their products but I don't think he has been on in years. If I see he's been online I will try to reach him.

The Vista is Urethane.

The Vivid XT has a non-Urethane cover meant to stand up to extremely fast (above 100) mph swing speeds.  It's the ball used in the World Lond Drive Circuit.
Not sure what the confusion is. It's 100 compression too.
It's essentially a Vivid for faster swingers.  Says so right on the Volvik site.

I believe the normal Vivid has the same outer layer. And we all know it has hardly any greenside spin.

According to Volvik, Vista has ceramic cover like XT.

As said many times, try it for yourself.  XT may be the ball for you or not.  For me, if the price was never factor, I would game XT along with MTB.  I wonder how XT would perform in cold weather.

I bought a sleeve of the yellow Vivid XT off amazon and got a few rounds in over the last 6 days.   They are HARD and with very little distance gains from my current gamer balls -  TP5x, XV, B330.  The spin and control around the greens is lacking but could be playable if you choose to a different approach with your short game -  check up shots vs. run outs.    They run out majority of the time with limited checkup.   Once on the greens, they are decent (they do not feel like a rock like the driver and irons) but definitely feel different.

I guess I am use to the softer feeling golf balls and anything above that just feels like I am hitting a rock.

Just my two cents...
Driver: PING G400 LST - Even Flow Black 6.5 or Tensei Orange V3
Fairway: 2017 M2 HL - Kura Kage x
Utility: TaylorMade P790 3 Iron (Even Flow 6.5)
Irons: TaylorMade P790 (4-AW) - Steelfiber 125
Wedges: Taylormade MG 54* and 60* - KBS Tour Shafts or Bettinardi 54* & 58* (Modus Prototype)
Putter: Odyssey 2M CS OR Byron Morgan DH89 OR Taylormade Spider Tour (Black) OR Cameron X5 Flow Neck

by popular demand, volvik must consider vivid XS (eXtra Soft).

Got a dozen of these coming next week and will use exclusively for a while. For some reason the color of the green and especially the red appeal to me. I was disappointed that the XT wasn't available in the red but I like the green a lot. I've played the regular Vivid a few times and got it to bite with a small amount of roll. Overall how it played reminded me a lot of the Bridgestone E6.

Very interesting what a lot of you guys are saying about it vs. the claims made on the website. Hoping for better results.

Maybe I am missing something here but the XTs stop for me and it is between the chrome soft and the XTs on which ball I will play..The XTs IMO are longer and straighter than the chrome soft.
In the st.Louis area the ball has sold out in most of the stores and I did find a place that had them so I bought a dozen orange and pink.
Depending on the day and my mood I will play the XTs or the chrome soft and figure I can't go wrong with either.

Played a round with this ball yesterday and was impressed with the length. It's as long as any ball I've ever played.

Unfortunately poor playing conditions along with some poor driving by myself made it hard to tell anything else. Because of constant rain we have very heavy rough plus it rained before and during my round so wet conditions. Add to that the greens hadn't been cut or rolled. So as far as spin I couldn't really tell much.

VERY muted feel at impact. Most times when I strike a ball, I can tell how well I hit it. With this ball it was difficult to tell. IMO not the same soft (squishy to me) impact feel like the Chrome Soft. Not the firmer pop of a Pro V1x or B330. Almost a dead feel but the ball flies far is the best way I can describe it.

Will go out again this week and hit more short game shots around the green. I seemed to get a little bite but hard to tell on wet uncut greens.

I will game at Strawberry Farms on Saturday.  The weather in SoCal is very typical, sunny and dry.  I will tee off at 1 pm so green should be rock hard.

One thing I *dont* like about this ball, is the line going around the entire ball. I like having the small logo/line on the side for aligning putts...but I feel like with this solid wrap-around line...I'm focusing way more on trying to hit a straight putt (getting ball to rotate along the line instead of wobbling off center) than actually where I'm lined up to or how hard I'm putting. It's a total distraction for me.
