I pulled the plug and ordered a sleeve of pink vivid xt from ebay. My gamer is Snell MTB.

Since the compression rate is 100, my expectation was that vivid xt would feel rock hard and would yield poor short game experience.

Last night:

First, I did the bounce test off concrete floor in my garage.  Surprisingly, the bouncing sound was not quite clicky as expected.  It was like Snell mtb.

Second, I test-putted that vivid xt felt like mtb.

Today:

At Tierra Rejada in Moorpark, CA, I filed-tested.  The results are:

Off driver, trajectory was low.  It felt slightly clickier than mtb, but acceptable. I may be wrong but from my recollection it feels like Srixon Z-star XV.   I say you get at least extra 10 yds.  Vivid XT rolled like there is no tomorrow.  Very low side spin. It wanna go straight.

Off irons, the feel was the same as driver.  Good amount of spin came in play.  I had an eagle from 140 yds with 9 iron.

Around green, Vivid xt was awesome tour ball.  It did what you ask for.

Off putter, vivid xt jumped off face and rolled little extra.

Durability is excellent.

In conclusion, vivid xt is excellent tour ball for those game any higher compression tour ball. Definitely a keeper for me.  This is good alternative to my beloved Snell mtb.
Thanks for the review especially since you were skeptical.  The matte finish is awesome.  I was looking at pink and orange and almost pulled the trigger.  Hopefully by the time I go through the S3 the price will drop on these : )

this ball has me super confused. i went to the only golf store in town and asked about these. the box says it is a medium flight hi spin ball. the rep at the store i talked to says it is higher spinning than the s4 ball the Bubba plays.

but it does not have urethane cover, i get that is so they can have the matte finish. these do not look as good as the original. the vivid white ball is the coolest looking ball out there. the vivid xt white ball looks like a range ball. so my confusion continues. at the store i was told this is like the prov1 and the s4 is the X version. i am not sure i trust that.

Lol @ the rep who think there's only two kinds of golf balls.  Prov 1 and 1x? Vivid xt and s4 is completely different beast. I lost 3 new xt balls into the water( on the first shots no less!!!)  so I don't think it's a good match for me.haha!! But I love the color...

Seriously. Why is it so hard to get good information??

I believe Vivid XT is new for this year which is why the information might not be readily available.  I bought 7 dozen orange S3 during the Memorial Day sale or I would have bought a bunch of the Vivid XT already.  I was going to use those before converting to the Vivid XT.  I thought the S3 was comparable to ProV.  I think comparing everything to ProV or ProV1x by the rep is the right thing to do considering the high regards of the Prov's.  Would anyone buy a ball on this forum if the rep starting comparing a new ball to Pinnacle Gold.....

i completely agree, i was not bagging on the rep, i am just totally confused by this product. haha. it seems to be something along the lines of a high handicap NXT type ball. Especially because it is being pitched as a distance call. it is even being used in the long drive circuit. but,  i am being told that it is a tour level ball on par with a ProV.

If you are skeptical as i was, i suggest u buy a sleeve off ebay.  Price was decent and shipping was quick (usps first class).

I bet u won't be disappointed.

Tell me a little about your game? What other ball would you compare this to?

My SS is 103 - 105.

Prior to Snell MTB, I gamed Zstar XV and V1x.

IMO, Vivid may be on par with NXT type ball.  However, XT is definitely on par with V1x and XV.  XT yields good amount of spin that regular Vivid is missing.

Everything I see/read about the ball seems to conflict. 4 piece "premium tour ball" but surlyn (or "hybrid" material?) cover, "distance" ball (it is on the box itself), but then says for 95+ MPH swing speed, high spin on wedges/irons and low spin on driver. I have had a box in my "cart" online for a while and cannot get myself comfortable with pulling the trigger. If it is like a XV or TP-X, then it would be a go. If it is like a NXT or other lower spin ball, then no way at that price.

What's causing the confusion? Is the ball not spinning or is it a feel issue?

I think it is a feel and look think that is messing me up. It seems to spin ok. I want to do some more testing.

My wife accidentally bought a dozen matt orange Volvik XT's instead of her normal vibe's.  I played with one today and I loved it, I normally play Pro V1x.  I didn't mind the slight increase in distance and I thought the spin was good and I really liked the feel.  Looking forward to playing this ball again.

I'll keep an eye on the ball thread and see what others say about it. I need more information before I go forward with the order, and if the local Volvik rep ever shows up at the stores I know managers at, I have put in a request to get a couple demo sleeves (if possible).

The second I saw green offered I wondered who in the R&D group was so mad with their job at the company they approved green balls ... for use on green grass golf courses. Yeah ... umm ... why not black instead? The only people who would be angry would be evening and night golfers. :)

I see a lot of vivid sleeves being sold in stores. I wish volvik would push vivid xt more because vivid is such a letdown people might never use volvik after.

Interesting that there is so much hate on the regular Vivid. I just played my first round with one, and I really liked it.

Now I'm tempted to get a sleeve of the XT's. The only thing holding me back, is my swing speed isn't 100+ like they say. When I got fitted, my average driver swing speed was 97mph, with a carry distance in the 240's. (My total distance on course is the 250-260 range). Would having a slightly lower swing speed have any negative effect when playing the XT's?

No. You'll enjoy 10-20+ yds with your driver shots.

If you liked vivid. You'll be pleasantly surprised with xt.

Fine, I'm sold.

Just picked up a dozen pink XT's on eBay. Had some eBay bucks to use, so why not?

Now my biggest pain, I have plans this upcoming weekend and won't be able to golf for another  9-10 days. :(

Definitely not a granny, but my wife really likes the Vivid. I personally don't care for the feel.

I do like the colors however. I may have to try the XT's... but it would be hard to replace the K-Sig.... :taunt:

Not bragging, but i made eagle with xt.  Without xt's spin, no way it would have happened.

I played a round with the XT after not playing for two months and I really liked it. It was long and high launching (for me at least) off the driver. I did not have issues with short game spin, I had a bunker shot check up immediately. I saw no more rollout than when I play with a B330-s or Z-Star. Irons I was really off, I would say I was 1/2 a club longer which was easy to adjust to but my swing alternated between a small push and a small pull so I will report back on green holding with irons once I am able to play more.

I used orange again today. Much better outcome than my first try. It spun quite a bit on my approach shots. Shoots off putter's face, still..

Orange is very visible.. even in the water...

If you sell your ksig on ebay, you could easily buy XT.

Pink was very visible on the course. I found it in some very tall brown grass more than a few times yesterday. I wear Oakley prizm golf lenses and dont know if that helped.

I just ordered a dozen of assorted color XT (white, green, pink and orange).  I will find out soon.  Playing in Southern California, pink somewhat disappeared in dry spots, yellow/brown background.
