I totally overlooked this. Volvik Vivid XT will hit the market next month, in April.

The press release says,

"The 100-compression, 4-piece golf ball will feature Volvik’s patented VIVID matte finish that was specifically designed for the World Long Drive circuit that Volvik served as the official golf ball in 2016. The winner of the 2016 WLD won with drives of 439 and 437 yards with orange and pink, far surpassing the average distances measured in previous year’s finals. The distances achieved using Volvik golf balls equaled a quarter of a mile.

“This is a tour ball designed for faster swing speeds and players seeking the most explosive distance possible created by a powerful swing speed,” said Volvik USA President Don Shin.  “Long drive is a growing part of our sport and it needed the perfect ball designed for it. We feel we have not only accomplished that, but by making this a 4-piece ball with our patented Zirconium based matte finish, we have made an extremely durable maximum distance ball with a low driver spin that will fight the wind. It will be visible in the air and on the ground from far distances. We think it’s the perfect ball for strong swingers. If you swing above 100 MPH with your driver, you are going to want to check this ball out.”

Four different brightly colored Volvik golf balls (Green, Orange, Pink and Yellow) were used in every long drive category at the World Long Drive Finals, including the Masters and Women’s championships and at every qualifying series leading up to the finals in 2016.

In addition to being the ball designed for World Long Drive, Volvik has formed a team of long drivers to play and promote the VIVID and VIVID XT in exhibitions. Volvik recently signed two-time WLD champion Tim Burke to an endorsement deal and has re-signed long -time Volvik ambassador and 2-time European Long Drive champion Maurice Allen.

The VIVID XT is one of the few 100-compression golf balls available to the golfing public and it is the only one available in a material that is not Urethane. The VIVID XT features a Zirconium cover that is the base material for ceramic and improves durability of a golf ball cover without sacrificing spin control. It will be available in matte green, matte orange, matte pink, matte white and matte yellow. It will carry a retail price of $39.99 per dozen. The VIVID XT will ship to Volvik retailers in April."

I know previous model, Vista was made of zirconium and delivered good performance.  Looking forward to Vivid XT.

Now in stores! Well, at least the PGASS. I was also at GG and didn't see them. I wanted to buy a box so bad but I hate what they did to the yellow, and can't stand the fact that the alignment line/aid goes all the way around the ball.

It's a golf ball.  It has a high compression, 4 piece, surlyn cover, bright colors.  Nobody on tour would use this ball due to the lack of urethane cover.

That's marketing.  Zirconium, ceramic, bismuth, etc., it's all ionomer (Surlyn) resin based.

** Mini Review **

Played a round with new XT. First of all, I LOVE the color. It's matte like Vivid but finish is better. Also I LOVE how the line is all around the ball, helps me alot during putting.

The main Pro or Con, depending on who you ask, is that the ball comes off face of all clubs HOT, and I mean VERY HOT. My SS is only 95-100 and my first drive with this ball went 309yds (with bit of wind-push), Next hole, 291yds.. The whole round, It was good 20-30yds more than with other normal balls. Irons too, 10-15yds easily. The reason? Someone please test on trackman but I believe the ball does not spin much.. Very little. Iron shots were rolling and rolling. Even chip shots didn't stop. And worst of all, ball comes off putter's face HOT so I needed to stroke a bit less.

Durability is superb. See the picture for a ball that I didn't even clean for a whole round

Bottom line. Feeling is much better than Vivid (which ball isn't though?) and yet it's quite different than any other ball I've played. It's click-y but not so much hard. If you are playing in a course with hard surface, and you want to see your ball jumping forward on and on and on, this ball might work and you'll probably reach par 5 easier than with any other ball you played.

Thanks for the review.  I am definitely going to give these a try.  I really like the matte finish and color options on the Vivid that a buddy of mine plays. Glad to see this offering at a high swing speed.

I pulled the plug and ordered a sleeve of pink vivid xt from ebay. My gamer is Snell MTB.

Since the compression rate is 100, my expectation was that vivid xt would feel rock hard and would yield poor short game experience.

Last night:

First, I did the bounce test off concrete floor in my garage.  Surprisingly, the bouncing sound was not quite clicky as expected.  It was like Snell mtb.

Second, I test-putted that vivid xt felt like mtb.

Today:

At Tierra Rejada in Moorpark, CA, I filed-tested.  The results are:

Off driver, trajectory was low.  It felt slightly clickier than mtb, but acceptable. I may be wrong but from my recollection it feels like Srixon Z-star XV.   I say you get at least extra 10 yds.  Vivid XT rolled like there is no tomorrow.  Very low side spin. It wanna go straight.

Off irons, the feel was the same as driver.  Good amount of spin came in play.  I had an eagle from 140 yds with 9 iron.

Around green, Vivid xt was awesome tour ball.  It did what you ask for.

Off putter, vivid xt jumped off face and rolled little extra.

Durability is excellent.

In conclusion, vivid xt is excellent tour ball for those game any higher compression tour ball. Definitely a keeper for me.  This is good alternative to my beloved Snell mtb.

this ball has me super confused. i went to the only golf store in town and asked about these. the box says it is a medium flight hi spin ball. the rep at the store i talked to says it is higher spinning than the s4 ball the Bubba plays.

but it does not have urethane cover, i get that is so they can have the matte finish. these do not look as good as the original. the vivid white ball is the coolest looking ball out there. the vivid xt white ball looks like a range ball. so my confusion continues. at the store i was told this is like the prov1 and the s4 is the X version. i am not sure i trust that.

If you are skeptical as i was, i suggest u buy a sleeve off ebay.  Price was decent and shipping was quick (usps first class).

I bet u won't be disappointed.

but it does not have urethane cover, i get that is so they can have the matte finish. these do not look as good as the original. the vivid white ball is the coolest looking ball out there. the vivid xt white ball looks like a range ball. so my confusion continues. at the store i was told this is like the prov1 and the s4 is the X version. i am not sure i trust that.

Lol @ the rep who think there's only two kinds of golf balls.  Prov 1 and 1x? Vivid xt and s4 is completely different beast. I lost 3 new xt balls into the water( on the first shots no less!!!)  so I don't think it's a good match for me.haha!! But I love the color...

this ball has me super confused. i went to the only golf store in town and asked about these. the box says it is a medium flight hi spin ball. the rep at the store i talked to says it is higher spinning than the s4 ball the Bubba plays.

I believe Vivid XT is new for this year which is why the information might not be readily available.  I bought 7 dozen orange S3 during the Memorial Day sale or I would have bought a bunch of the Vivid XT already.  I was going to use those before converting to the Vivid XT.  I thought the S3 was comparable to ProV.  I think comparing everything to ProV or ProV1x by the rep is the right thing to do considering the high regards of the Prov's.  Would anyone buy a ball on this forum if the rep starting comparing a new ball to Pinnacle Gold.....
