I'm sure I would have upgraded to the X2 once I'd actually seen one, simply for the better focus mechanism. Couple that to a smaller form factor, metal housing, far easier slope on/off and the added protection of being water resistant makes it an easy mental purchase.

The new X2 reminds me of the Leupold form factor and quality, the metal housing has a lot to do with that.

Just remember though, a laser serves one purpose and that is to shoot a flag, everything else is icing on the cake, which makes these choices so personal. Be in no doubt though that I thought the Tour X excellent, but the X2 fits my extra 'icing' needs better.

Gotcha. Precision Pro NX7 seems like the way to go with your budget.

Switched from a Tour Z model and am very happy. Fast target acquisition, consistent readings, slope is easy to turn on/off, etc.

I upgraded from the Tour v4 with slope and the x Tour and I admit that it is an awesome device. Love the speed at which it locks in on a target and the fact that the focus wheel is sturdier. Very pleased and happy that I upgraded.

Used the x2 for 3 rounds now and I can tell you this thing is probably the ultimate rangefinder.  I have had 1500, 1600 and the x7 and I love the smaller size (thought I'd dislike it).  Picks up the flag super quick, slope function button is super easy.  This one will be hard to top for Bushnell....

I have a gift card to a big box store that I'm thinking about putting into a range finder. Was originally slated to go toward irons but had an awesome fit at a local small shop so didn't want to run off with the specs when they were already giving me MSRP.

I'm down to the Tour X2 (~$50 out of pocket), the Tour 4 Jolt with Slope or Leupold GX-3i2 (either would be "free" and enough room to pick up some balls or a wedge). I'm probably never going to shoot over 220 yards so max range doesn't really matter. I like that the Leupold gets down to .1 yards (plan to use for those tricky in between pitch shots) and has a great reputation for strong customer service. The Bushnell has slope which I think could be helpful when playing new courses. I don't play in any tournaments at the moment, but rather pay a little extra now to get something tourney legal.

Two questions for anyone who's used any of them:

1. Are you successful shooting a spot on the ground? I think a lot of focus goes into locking in on the pin, but I'd like to know distances to traps, etc.
2. Has the slope setting done anything to noticeably improve your scores? Even when I play with a buddy with a slope finder, don't think he uses it often unless it is really wacky elevation. I'm a feel guy as well and see my shots so not sure if getting a slope adjusted distance would help as much.

Thanks

And as I say that...

Anyone use the tenth-metre (yard) setting? I can stand there and shoot a pin four times and the answer varies by up to two metres. It makes me wonder about accuracy. The fact that my leupold didn't do that is what makes me surprised by the variance. Anyone have a thought to "drift" on a laser product?
I have issues with my Leopold doing it. I get differences of 10 yards.. Just ordered the Pro X2 and looking for a marked improvement.. It is due to arrive tomorrow and I will be using it Saturday.

I used my new Pro X2 for the first time today, and I have to give it a big thumbs up!  A solid feeling unit, something that has been lacking in the Bushnell models since the 1600TE.  Significantly better than the Tour X.

I've owned the 1500, 1600 slope,  Tour X, X7 slope, and now X2.  X2 is hands down the best range finder.  Tour X is the worst.

The view finder is dim due to the mirrored lens.  Using it on cloudy days is difficult.  Also the focus dial is very loose.  So you constantly have to adjust it

Took my Pro X2 to the range and it was so easy and fast to range the flags..... super simple to use. This thing my replace my golf buddy! I love the small, compact size. It feels really solid and the rubber grip surfaces are perfect.... Bushnell really did a good job designing  this thing.

The price is back up now, unfortunately.  But you can see the price history here.

I used Keepa (via Chrome) to notify me when the price got below $400.

Looking for feedback compared to the GX-3i2 for those that have tried both.

I'd like the option for the slope, but how are the optics in comparison to Leupold?

DIfferences in quickness of locking in?

Thanks.

Had both. X2 a touch quicker. Optics a different tint. The choice to go black or red is really more helpful than I anticipated.

I can say that effectively, the X2 is about all you could want within the Rules and as a device of that kind. Nothing bad to say at all about the Leupold either.

I imagine this is going to become a commodity quickly. USGA is going to have to handle AR. That's only 3 years off, and you'll be happy with either product that long.
