I just downloaded the app for my Android phone.  The app looks really good!  I've already downloaded all the Bethpage courses [I play Bethpage every week] using  wifi to "My Courses" so now I shouldn't have to use any internet data and just the phone's GPS chip.  Right?  If anyone is familiar with the app, please post.  Thanks.

I used it for the first time last week and seemed decent, not sure if anyone else has experience with better apps for stat and club distance tracking?  It still uses data for the GPS, but unlike some of the other apps it downloads the hole information before the round.  That way you use less data because it isn't downloading images before every hole, but you still have to use data to get GPS readings.

I just saw this.  You might be interested.

Hole19 uses a very small amount of cellular data when you sync course maps to your device and when you use the GPS on the course.
However, you can avoid using cellular data if you wish:
  • Sync Courses to your device in advance of your round while connected to WIFI.
  • Turn off Cellular Data in your device's General Settings - the app will be able to provide distances based on the device's Internal GPS.

Yeah, if you're using your phone's GPS then you shouldn't consume any data. Just make sure to download the course you'd like to play beforehand and you're all set. I've played rounds where I wanted to conserve battery on my phone, so I switched my phone to airplane mode and everything still worked perfectly!

These guys update the app all the time and most of the time nothing changes.   This most recent one changed a lot for me even tho it didn’t mention that it did.

Anyone know how to input score now? The swipe to the left doesn’t work for me now.
I tweeted them but no response so far.

sorry. They emailed me back.  Somehow i accidentally hit the “advanced scoring option” before playing.  That wipes out the scoring input.
