I played the Elixr golf ball today next to a titleist pro v1x.  This was my first round of the year so take this for what it is, A weekend hackers thoughts!  I will say that I found the elixr to hold it's line well and had a much straighter flight.  Distance seem to be close with the elixr 5 yards longer at most.  Spin for me was very similar.  My only problem I had all day with the elixr was on the first outside hole, first outside swing of the year.  I nutted a driver right down the middle of the fairway, twirled my club and picked up my tee without watching it land.  Playing partner gave a nice ball reply and off we drove to our balls.  As I drove down the fairway my ball was nowhere to be found.  My playing partner and I looked for about 10 minutes since no one was behind us but never could find it.  I joked that I hit it so well it disintegrated.  Lol  I truely love everything about this ball.  I have just found my new ball of choice.

The Elixir look promising, before the round, I chipped and putted with it, felt pretty good and even exhibited some check.

I put it into play and compared it against the E6 Speed (my regular ball) on the course.

Drives: I hit 2 drive on 2 different holes. I was driving great that day but these drives with the Elixir, the ball ballooned with a fade spin. The holes before and the holes after, I hit the drives great with the E6 Speed, point and shoot and I was perplexed by the way the Elixir ball behaved. Low spin head and low spin shaft. This really killed me as the hole was a demanding drive and long, it did not even come close to getting it up there.

2nd shot irons, chipping and putting was good though. Although, nothing special.

I am done with this experiment. I tried and this is just not the ball for me. Back to the E6 Speed and the B330 for me.

I've played my test ball and it was great - could definitely put it in play alongside the Pro V's of the world.  It's stacked up against the other Tour level balls, so I wouldn't expect it to play similar to e6.  You could try their Avant - I tested that on a SkyTrak and it played near identical to the NXT Tour & B330-RX (which I played last year after moving on from the e6).

I got two samples from OnCore the - the soft new ball and the core ball that goes straighter ?? Cant remember the names of the balls.

I played both sleeves in a round and left them all out on the course (intentionally) the soft tour type ball was ok but the core straight ball was like hitting a rock that weighed far more than any golf ball should - I would not buy any of these balls.

...thats the thing, the proV spins too much for me. The 2017 E6 Speed and 2016 B330 are very similar flight for my swing and driver, just the B300 is a touch harder and goes further but it has a lil more side spin.

Now if I find an Avant, i'll try it but I think I am done with the testing of balls on my end. Now, the Elixir may work for others but it just ain't for me, thats all.

ps for a while, I thought the Elixir was going to be like my fave ball of all time, the Taylodmade Red LDP, marketing made it sound like it was (in my mind), oh well.

I took my sleeve out yesterday to play. I didnt get a good shot at trying it as I pulled driver first hole and pulled it left into the pond.  Ball felt nice off the club face though.  Second hole was a par 3 with the wind coming right at us.  Hit a pitching wedge and the ball just got caught up in the wind.  About 30 yards short of what I needed.  Just figured it was wrong club choice.  Drove the ball on the next hole and pulled it left into the woods.  That was completely my error, but the ball felt kind of soft.  Dropped the final ball I had, pulled three wood, and took a swing.  The ball felt awful here... I made really good contact and it felt like a marshmallow.  Decided to go back to my nikes after that for the rest of the round... I mean i probably didnt give them a fair chance, but these balls were not for me.

I do think the ball is slightly softer then what I'd prefer, but acceptable....I think the Oncore site says 85 compression, but I did not think it felt overly soft and I really dislike low compression balls.  I would say slightly softer than a prov1, etc., So if you need or are used to a firmer ball the ELIXR may be a difficult transition feel wise.

Played it for several holes today against the KSIG and B330RXS. I did not like it off the M1 driver at all, but the irons felt very good. Putter was just ok.

Distance was a little shorter that the other two balls with the driver. I appreciate Oncore sending a sleeve for $3.99, but I will have to pass.

I was at Wegman's earlier this morning and saw that they were selling a dozen of ELIXRs for $29.99.  They may have a partnership due to both companies being from NY, while Wegman's has locations out into New England. I had never heard of the company or balls until I saw the end-cap set up and read that it has a urethane cover.

I just saw them today at my local Wegmans here in PA, a display right at the entrance for $29.99 per dozen. First golf product I've ever seen sold in Wegmans since they opened here 15 years ago. I ordered a sleeve for $3.99 online to try them out.

The Elixir and Avant are both selling pretty well at my municipal course. Poor feedback on the Caliber so they don't stock that anymore. I didn't care for the Avant or the Caliber but the Elixir performs like many of the premium balls out there.

As someone who needs help with keeping his ball straight, I got a trial pack of the Caliber's. Haven't hit anything with them yet, but I took them to the practice green last night and putted around with it. Felt pretty good off the putter face.

I played the Elixir,Vice pro plus, and ProV1x in three straight rounds.
The Elixir had the poorest green side manners and a harder feel off the putter.
The Vice pro plus and Prov1x were equally excellent on approach shots and chipping around the greens.
The Vice pro plus is the best ball off a putter I have ever used.

Elixr pack purchased and balls played.
Feel was fine, a tad soft but not chrome soft soft. Good feel around greens and decent grab in chipping practice.
In round - Driver came up short by about 12 yrds on avge. Irons a little less but harder to tell as I dont hit full irons often but it spun well.
Overall was OK. It plays like an NXT tour with a urathane cover; good performance but missing the last bit of top end level finish. for 25 definitely buy them a dozen at a time, otherwise buy vice pro for the same price in 6 box sets - great ball

Caliber was the fastest "nope" I've ever tested.

Hit it off the tee, horrible performance.
Approach shot: struck it incredibly well, ended up 10 yards short of the green.
Pitch/ship felt real hard and was horrible.
My 2 putt felt like I was hitting a rock with my putter.

Absolute no-go with this ball. Glad I only got the trial sleeve and didn't buy a full dozen.

I was able to find a dozen elixr golf balls for $30 and received them on thursday.  I put them in play yesterday morning and instantly remember everything I loved about them with the trial pack.  Felt great off the driver (newly acquired king ltd), awesome distance control with my irons, felt perfect off the putter, and best of all I could stop these on a dime or even back them up if I wanted with my wedges.  I have never really been anymore than a one hop and stop wedge guy but for some reason I could back these up.  I bladed chip shots on 3 consecutive holes that lead to a front nine 45 but after them retarded mistakes I managed a respectable 38 on the back,  I will without question continue to play these balls.  After today I won't stray to my old reliable proV1 anymore.

The Elixir is a good ball! At the muni course I belong to the Elixir and the Avant are far outselling any other ball they carry.

I decided to buy a dozen Elixr's and give them a try.  I read some positive reviews and being from from Western New York, I wanted to give the local ball company a try.   My current (now former) ball was the Callaway Chrome Soft.

Shockingly, the Oncore Elixr was longer off the tee by a good 7-10 yards, about the same with the irons, and wedge shots stopped and backed up very similar to the Chrome Soft.  The Elixr was also very, very consistent from shot to shot.   Along with some more yards off the tee, the deciding factor for me was the way they putt.  Really Soft off the face of the putter, a good consistent roll, and the Elixr logo with the 2 lines is great for lining up the putt.

Now let me explain the Crazy part.   I first played these balls in a tournament last weekend at Shelridge CC.  (not far from where Oncore is based).   The other 3 guys in my 4some also wanted to try them.  2 of the 3 were Pro V1 players and the other gamed B330S's. After a few holes of back n forth with our regular balls, Every one of us was playing the Elixr exclusively.   All 4 of us have now made the switch to the Oncore Elixr!

I can't speak to the rest of the Oncore lineup, but coming from an 8 capper,  the Elixr is a great ball that definitely competes with the most popular Tour Balls.

Great Job Oncore.  I hope you have long lasting, sustained success.

I was able to try a sleeve out.  I used to play ProV1x, then swapped to the vice pro +. I have since been going back and forth between ChromeSoft X and Volvik S3.

I dabbled with the Volvik S4, and that is what the Elixir reminded me of. It feels a bit harder off the driver but still soft everywhere else.

I seemed to launch the Elixir noticeably lower off the tee, I may have lost 5 yards or so, but the bonus was I played 3 rounds with one ball. I think I shot 69, 74 and 70 with it (well i finished the last round with a chromesoft because i left the elixir in a watery grave). The ball would have started my next round also had I not lost it, it held up much better than any other ball I have tried recently.
