Think it may be a fib that it's a "tour issue" shaft, there are lots of them on the Bay. Nice shaft though.

As MOS said, lots of threads on this shaft to peruse. No point to ramble on about them here.

There are Silver Dual-Core TiNi's all over eBay which have a BIN price around $225.  There are very few Dual-Core XT Tour Proto on eBay which should be priced around $350.  They are entirely different shafts.

I don't see any information anywhere about the Tour Stiff line....kinda hard to sell something when you don't know what you're getting. I guess if a 60 series shaft is in your wheel house and you have a 98-104 SS, you might be interested in an experiment if the price is right.

I inquired about these and was told they are just a tour flex and not the XT profile like the TX flex shaft.

Interesting!  These shafts in the eBay link claim to be XT profile yet the labels are the same code as the Silver Tour Stiff.  The difference being WSXiA for the 60G Tour Stiff and WTXiA on the 60G TX shaft.

I bought one of the 60 TS shafts from Mike's last week, paid less $80 (including shipping). Hit it at the range today in my M2 for the first time, I was really hitting it well and it felt great. I don't have Trackman numbers to back it up, but to my eye a lower, flatter ball flight with less spin vs. the Matrix Speed Rulz C shaft I normally play with, switching back and forth. Sorry, I didn't mean for this to be a review...

I really don't know a thing about these shafts, and when researching here searching and reading through threads before buying, there's a lot of conflicting information out there from a lot of posters that seem to consider themselves experts... but I just don't know who actually is and who's just playing internet golf insider. I really doubt that anyone is selling any version of the KuroKage XT shaft for less than $100, but who knows? On one hand, I really don't understand why MRC would go to the trouble to label these shafts "Proto" if the only thing prototype about them is a slightly different flex profile versus the retail stiff shafts. Isn't that what the "TS" signifies? I would think it would be easier to just add a line of specs to their website than to label these uniquely. But, the "Proto" is not etched or anything, it's just printed on the shaft, so maybe it's just a simple step in the finishing process that they use to denote an item that's intended to go to the tour van and isn't a retail offering. I'm sure whatever the case, they just had some excess that they sold as a lot to Mike's Golf Outlet. Just doing a bunch of hypothesizing.

Either way, I'm happy with the purchase and I think they're a fantastic value for someone in the market for a mid-to-lower launching, lower spinning shaft. I was not in the market for a shaft, but when I had an opportunity to buy this for a fraction of what I'd expect to, new and uncut, I couldn't resist.

This thread should clear up some of the differences out there.

http://www.golfwrx.c...e#entry14996366

TS is supposed to be the retail Silver profile in Tour Stiff.  TS flex is said to fall between Stiff and Extra Stiff flex.

No. TS models are just a tour flex of the dual core silver Tini. The same profile available in the Taylormade M series as a stock shaft. The only one based on the XT profile with the upgraded materials is the TX flex. Hell of a price on the silver tini though with a little cool factor splashed in. If I was going to buy a standard silver Tini, this is a no brainer.

I will say that if you look at the labels on the TM Dual Core 60 shafts, they have a totally different butt label.  I suspect that these TS shafts may be produced in Japan, while the ones with the other labels sold in OEM clubs are from elsewhere in Asia.  I would say it appears the same facility as the TX versions?

I have butt frequency tested one of these TS protos, and it flexes about 2/3 of the way (from a Stiff) toward an X-flex XT or Silver TiNi X shaft.

Do you mean the Silver KK Dual Core TS shaft is build off the XM profile?  If you do, I think you should compare the KK DC EI chart to the XM EI chart.  They are nothing alike; KK DC has a stiffer tip, softer mid and softer butt compared to the XM.

There's 1 true way to find out....someone cop one and cut it 12" from the tip....if theirs Tini Wire it's an XT if there isn't the OEM story might be legit.

Can someone tell me what the swing speed rating is for this shaft? Just above 104?

Mine is between 105-109 and I'm looking to either get this shaft or the original TiNi Silver in X-flex.

You could play here at the TS or the X flex without problem. You'd be tipping the tour stiff shaft to get it to play how you would want it to with your swing speed. You could probably go X untipped.  Or make a big step up to the XT Proto shaft in TX Flex.

I have this shaft 60 TS and while it's a great shaft, it feels soft for my ss at 103-5.  Get the x-flex.

I agree with this 100%. The TS flex is just a stiff flex with a bit less torque. The DC in TS played much closer to what I'd call stiff than x. My SS is similar to these.

Can someone tell me what the swing speed rating is for this shaft? Just above 104?

Mine is between 105-109 and I'm looking to either get this shaft or the original TiNi Silver in X-flex.

I have this shaft in TS flex, and I disagree with the statement(s) saying that it is merely a stiff-flex shaft with a lower torque rating.  I play the shaft in my 9* EPIC (non Sub-Zero) driver, and at slightly less than 45" playing length, it frequencies at more than a 6.5 flex on the FCM Frequency Scale (at least halfway between S and X flexes on that scale).  By comparison, I play the Kuro Kage Silver Dual Core 70-S shaft in my 3-wood, and with standard tip-trimming for installation in a 3-wood head, it frequencies at FCM 6.0 to 6.1 (just a hair on the stiffer side of S-flex).

BTW, I LOVE the Tour Stiff Prototype version of this shaft, and other than the TP (Tour Preferred) version of the Paderson Kinetixx Kevlar 860 driver shaft (74 grams, 3.4* torque, ultra-firm tip section with the Kevlar weave in it), this TS-flex Kuro Kage Prototype shaft is the only shaft that has helped me to eliminate hooks with the EPIC driver .... and it holds-up VERY well to my 108 MPH driver speed with a quick downswing tempo and ultra-late release.  In only three rounds (45 holes) with this shaft in my EPIC driver, I have already hit several 280-yard+ drives right down the middle, with a slight fade rather than my normal pull-hook miss.  I have only missed 3 or 4 fairways with this driver/shaft combination, and only one of those was a severe miss (bad swing, resulting in a "block" that still traveled about 255 yards). I may occasionally get drives that travel 5 to 10 yards further with the Paderson shaft, but my drives are more consistent with the KK Dual Core TS Prototype!

I strongly endorse this Kuro Kage Dual Core 60 Prototype shaft in TS flex for anyone with a swing speed up to about 110 MPH who is looking to minimize hooks with their driver!  Of course, YMMV.

Ronster is my exact situation stats wise, as well. Trying to decide what to do when the shaft arrives, the TS60.  I currently play the original KK Silver that came with a Nike Covert in X flex.  I don't actually think I'm X flex as I prefer the original KK versus a Diamana D+ 70 in Stiff I've also hit, the KK original in X flex is 10 yards farther, easier to load and release smoothly, and can handle when I step on it(for me, not more than 108 I'd guess).  Just proof that X and S can vary huge depending on profiles etc.

With the TS60, I'm leaning towards tipping 1 inch.  The other option is no tip, cut to heavier swingweight, try.  Then, it'll be long enough to tip 1/2 or 1 inch and cut to length to meet my D1ish swingweight.

Based on finding the D+ 70 Stiff a bit boardy and not as long as the original X flex KK Silver, what would you do with the soon to arrive KK TS 60?

Thanks in advance, you guys are awesome!

I'm not so sure that you need to tip-trim the TS flex by 1" in this shaft.  My driver clubhead speed is 108 to 110 MPH, and I have a quick tempo and late release.  I am playing the TS (untipped) at 44.75" in my 9.0* Epic driver (D1.5 to D2 swingweight, until I get some heavier sole weights).  I get nice straight to slight fade ball flight and up to 275 yards of carry with this setup (I've hit a couple of 300+ yard drives with the roll-out on dry fairways, and drove it to the front fringe on a 312-yard par-4 the first round that I played the shaft in my Epic driver).

Bought one of these for a Vapor Fly Pro driver but haven't tested it yet. Currently use a S+ LTD 60X with good results @ 10.5*, this shaft spin less than the LTD?

Thanks for the advice..part of my impetus for doing this quick is an upcoming tournament- we all dream of "just as easy to hit as my gamer, but 10 yards further!" and I don't have time to install/test(at 45.5 with a slightly heavier SW than I like(would be D4ish), then like, cut to length(easy if you're right!), or remove tip, cut tip, redo, test.

I think I'll follow your advice, and I will update as I can here.  I'll just play my gamer in the tourney.  Thanks for the help!  I'm pretty sure at D4 +1 inch length I'll still be able to choke down and tell how I like the tip/overall stiffness profile.  My hope is a tip stiff but alive feel, with a weaker shaft profile than my KK Silver X right now, but only by a small amount.

My reasoning is that I'd had trouble with my 3 wood all year, grabbed a S flex KK Silver original from an old Nike driver, tipped it 1 inch, mated with an old 910F 13.5 head, and it's absolute MONEY!  Every good swing nets 235-240 yards, which for my modest 105 driver speed is about right for a 3 wood. It's a weaker shaft than I've used in the past, and I'd love to replicate the easy, effortless distance I get from it in my driver shaft.
