I imagine most people will hate this, but for an Orlando resident like myself who has the options of a few dozen hot deals every weekend of the year, I could easily see this paying for itself...

I can use that as I book a ton of golfnow rounds. Saving on the convenience fees is worth it alone.

Saw this email too. Is there anyone who signed up for VIP last year and can vouch for if it's worth it or not?

I noticed that golfnow seems to be running more specials like $10 for $20 GNOW credit so not sure if the VIP program is still worth it

I signed up for it yesterday. I had $250+ in booking fees last year, not including the rounds my playing partners booked (or rounds booked other places).

With the 25% bonus in rewards, I estimated my break even point as follows:

Assumptions:
- based on hot deals rounds only
- Hot Deals get 20 reward points normally, so 25% is 5 bonus points. 100 points (5 HD rounds) = $10 reward , so 5 points = $0.50
- estimated booking fees of $4 per person per round average

6 solo bookings = $24 fees saved and $3.00 bonus rewards (30 bonus points) added.

6 2some bookings = $48 fees saved and $3.00 bonus points (30 bonus points) .

2 4some bookings = $32 fees saved and $1.00 bonus points (10 pts)

That's $111, which is about what the VIP cost me including tax. I could easily break even in a couple months, especially since I saved $14 on the 4some that I booked for this weekend when I I signed up. Also helps that I live in Texas and don't have to worry about an off-season.

Also, the specials like the 10/20 will work together with the VIP. Here is a screenshot of the round I booked for this weekend.
I used the "$100 for $50" certificate that I bought on Cyber Monday, then the VIP discount ate up the booking fees.

Yep I purchased it, I would have saved $37 last year alone which isn't much but it's still $37. The extra rewards are a bonus especially if you purchase mostly hot deals or book more than 1 person a round. Beats paying fees per person which I hated. If they ship out a dozen of the new TP5's this year even better.

Unfortunately a lot of the Tucson area courses don't support GolfNow anymore so it wouldn't be worth it to me. Shame because a few years ago they were all I used.

When I first saw this, I was like no way I'm paying a hundred.. but the damn fee for my next booking is like $7 I might budge in and put it as tax deduction. Lol

signed up. I was contemplating because it says 10/20 bonus pt PER round. But It's PER round PER person. So I book a hot deal for 4 some, I get 100 pts! $10 off !

sweet.

So the only good and new policy from 2016 is now dead in 2017 - "worry free tee-times". Back to paying in full for cancellations. Screw that. I'm never using this service again. I've had enough bad experiences with GN.

I play most of my rounds at a private club so I'm not their targeted customer but I do keep an eye out for a decent deal on some of the good public and resort courses in the area.  I've pretty much stopped looking at GolfNow and just browse through TeeOff every month or two.

I would never use GolfNow enough to justify paying $100 for a VIP membership but it does seem to have some value if you use their service a lot.

I understand that, it is what I am referring to. It was a feature, now behind a very substantial paywall...

The "local" hot deal I used quite a bit last year went up $2 from last year....but I have noticed that if you try to search out more then 3-4 days max the price jumps up again and again.  I just fear that I get the VIP membership and then either the prices go up again or they lose the one course I really use it for.

I've noticed they have been waiting longer before they discount the hot deals. I've seen some go down half price or more the night before or the day-of, especially when it's only a single or 2some available. I booked a hot deal last Saturday night for playing Sunday. I paid $18, but it was $45 when I had looked on Thursday. I used $10 rewards, so almost played for free.

Update: 5 weeks in, 5 rounds booked (mix of 4somes and 2somes), $55 in fees saved, and I've received 2 $10 rewards so the bonus points are paying off.

Also, I just got an email saying I will be receiving a free dozen Taylormade Project (a) balls. This VIP deal is working out great for me so far.

5 years ago I would have signed up, but they have lost so many courses in my area, it just isn't worth it now. Went from about 18 courses in a 30-45 min drive to 4, one of which is a rough 9 holer.

signed up. I was contemplating because it says 10/20 bonus pt PER round. But It's PER round PER person. So I book a hot deal for 4 some, I get 100 pts! $10 off !

sweet.

This is the same for non-VIP bookings as well. Been like that a couple years now. Only "real" benefit is not paying booking fees.

Did you receive the Project (a) balls due to your VIP status?
