My 4 year old Bushnell Neo X has gone belly up and I am looking for a new GPS watch.  I have been satisfied with the Neo and am not familiar with that is now available.  I don't want built in fitness or bluetooth just F-N-C and hazards.  I see Bushnell has the Neo Ion but it is quite a bit more expensive than the Neo X was.  I ordered a Golf Buddy WT 4 but this watch is huge and is being sent back today.  I wonder if the WT 5 is any smaller?  Anyone try the Precision Pro GPS band?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Rick

Thanks for the info Mason.  The only negatives I have seen being posted is about the band clasp.  Some seniors like me (67) are apparently having issues getting the band strap closed.  Are there some other options with the band clasp?  With arthritis in both thumbs this might be a deal breaker for me.

Sounds like you already decided but just for the record.  I have a WT5 and my understanding is that it is smaller than the WT4 but it certainly isn't small and sleek.  A couple of buddies have Garmin S series, 2 or 4, and they both seem smaller I guess because they are round.  The square shape of the WT5 makes it seem bulky to me.  Plus I can never remember which button to press to get either the shot distance function or to get it to change holes when it won't do it automatically.

I charged it up and put it on.  The size is about half the size of other watches I have had.  Very light as well.  The way the band snaps on takes a bit of a learning curve.  I found it easier to put the watch on upside down on your wrist the spin it around.  Once on it is super comfortable.  The buttons are easy to access and it is very easy to figure out how stuff works.  This watch has all of the bells and whistles I need.   I only tried this on in my house today.  My biggest question is regarding the display which uses a black background with white numbers and visibility out in the sunlight. If it passes the visibility test I think that this will be a winner.

I took the watch outside.  It locked on in short order and located a course near my house.  It was a very bright day and I had no issues reading the numbers regarding both illumination and font size with 67 year old eyes.  This watch is so comfortable and light.  I will withhold final decision until after a I get a round or two into it but I think this is a keeper.

No updates yet.  Mother Nature is not cooperating.  After playing twice in shorts in February, March has so far been a stinker.

I see the Garmin S20 Approach seems to rate well. Experiences from those who have one?

I have 2 buddies that are using the Garmin S20 and both love them. I really like the looks and it is very sleek on your wrist. I am getting close to pulling the trigger except I hate anything on my wrists when I play. Maybe I would just get used to it?

You'll get used to a GPS watch before the bottom of a small bucket of balls if you want to get used it.  I was the same way and it very quickly became a non-issue.  :)

Any news on whether a successor to the Garmin Approach S6 is coming? Stores seem to be steeply discounting the S6.

The golf buddy voice 2 has a strap accessory and both can be had for around $100.  If you don't want a watch, I just bought a Neo Ghost for $49.96 from Budget Golf - it's a promo (gave the golf buddy to my daughter).

I had the X20 and it was really good.  I gave it to my son (or he assumed ownership) so i went out and got the X40.  I absolutely love the X40 for what I use it for.  I use it for golf only and it provides everything that I need plus i love the touchscreen swiping to get to items rather quickly.   I do use readers for smaller print items but my eyes are still decent and I could see all the numbers in any condition (sunny, cloudy, etc).     The Garmin connect solution needs some work but overall i cannot complain too much about it.  I still wish they would allow the user to add shots when reviewing your latest round but that is something that will come over time.

Definitely a device that everyone should consider especailly if you want something smaller on your wrist.

I think that would be the S60 which now shows on the Garmin website.  I checked the local golf shops and they aren't in stock yet but should be by the end of the month.

I have one on order. Hopefully I'll get it mid week.
