Does Smith Optics offer something like Oakley's Asian fit aka low nose bridge and higher cheekbones?  I'm gonna head to an REI and try them out.

Also, is there a specific lens from Smith that would be specific to golf?

Due to this thread, I ended up with Ignitor, Polarchomic, Chromopop, lens.  First polarized lens that I've gotten along with golfing.

Me as well. I did get a few other lenses for comparison. I played my first round today with the Ignitor lenses and considering I normally don't play with sunglasses they definitely didn't bother me. I don't have any comparisons yet but I will try the other lenses I got to see if there is something that suits me better.

You got the chromapop photochromic polarized ignitor lenses in a frame that has interchangeable lenses? I wasn't aware there was a frame that had that specific ignitor lens as an interchangeable option.  Only ignitor I've seen that's interchangeable is the non polarized, non Chromapop, non photochromic variant.

You're right. The Chromopop lenses aren't interchangeable. I got a second pair of glasses with interchangeable lenses to compare the plain ignitor along with a couple other lenses to see which one I like best. Time will tell. I only get out once a week for nine holes so I will try a different pair each week.

Any tips of getting a pair of Smith at a lower price, can get Oakleys on the 120-140 range with Prizm lenses but Smith runs 80% higher.

Also, when on the smith site do you select the Polarchromatic item in the search or the chromapop non-polarized?

Ended up buying the Flak Drafts with the prizm golf lens. 1 round so far but really liked it and it was comfortable.  The asian fit of Oakleys did a better job and I went to a sunglasses store that had Maui Jims with adjustable nose pads and none of them felt comfortable.  Was really disappointed because I like the design/look of the Maui Jims better but the Oakleys were a better fit.  Still havent tried Smiths but will get out to an REI soon to try them out.

Got my Smith's with the IPC lenses a couple days ago, have only worked on the short game while wearing the glasses but I must say the rose tent is a little dark when it is partly cloudy.  The lenses provide a very crisp view and depth doesn't appear to be distorted at all.  Will go out onto the range and course with them for the first time tonight, looking forward to seeing the greens more clearly

Just bought these Callaway Sungear Kite glasses for a great price on Amazon.   OMG I could not believe the clarity and sharpness of these shades, as good as if not better than my much more expensive Oakleys.

Oakley with the G30 lens is nice. Other option is get something with the Transitions Drivewear lens if you wear prescription glasses. They are full-time sunglasses, but on overcast days, they still transmit a lot of light and when it gets bright they turn red-brown for good contrast.

They are polarized, and there are tons of threads on the pros/cons of polarized lenses for reading greens. I think the clarity they provide outweigh everything else and I like them.  YMMV

For daily use, I use a Maui Jim Frame with Superthin Glass - OMG, much beter than polycarbonate but almost twice the price due to frame and lense. The MJ Sport with polycarbonate are great for throwing around because they will bend and take some punishment - just could not find a fit after my Ho okipa were lost. Hint - Buy the MJ Leashes.

For golf, I've always been told to wear nonpolarized because you can see actual conditions better or the green. Well, now I use my feet to read greens. I am using an Oakley Radarpath or somesuch - more functional frame than anything.

This thread has me looking at Smith. I also looked at Zeal for everyday because of this thread.

But remember guys, it's also about fit. Find the general parameters of a frame - width, height of lense, nose, temple and bend.

I recently bought Smith Optics Parallel D Max.  I've only use the Ignitor lens on the golf course, which is why I bought them, and love them.  I haven't been wearing sunglasses on the course because I sweat so much and I have to clean them off on virtually every hole but my eyes definitely are not tired and hazy at the end of the day anymore.  Very comfortable and a good fit.

I've had the Maui Jim Kapalua for 10 years. Great golf glasses and you don't look like your about to ride in the tour de france or compete in speed skating. Take them off to putt.

I picked up these with the ChromaPop Lenses.  They came with two other lenses as well.  They are incredible for a great price.

http://www.smithopti...Max/p/PMPPGDMMB

Being a self admitted sunglasses ho (about $8000 in sunglasses laying around the house and cars at this moment), Smith with their photochromic chromapop ignitor polarized lenses are hands down the best I've ever worn, out of all Oakley products (Prizm, etc...I have all sorts of spare lenses aroubd), Maui Jims, Costas (hate them)...Any major brand I have.  The chromapop ignitor lenses enhance color and definition so well and so pleasing to the eye, that looking at things without the glasses on (normal, natural light) makes things look dull and lifeless. And the photochromic tech changes the darkness of the tint with sunlight intensity, so even on overcast days you can wear them without worry of things being too dark. And they get plenty dark in bright sunlight to keep you from squinting.

I've really always felt like any glasses/lens combo have were a compromise somewhere...Changed color tint too much, too dark for all but the brightest days, or too little tint for bright days, but the Smith products with the Chromapop photochromic polarized ignitor lenses (what a mouthful) are damn near perfect in every way.

Trying to search the Smith website and can't find a match for "ignitor" - have they changed the designation/description?

Thanks.

Got a pair of the Nike Ph max transitions golf, last 3 numbers are 006.  Nice for golf, some on ebay for $60 right now.  Think I'll get another pair for the wife and for me, great driving glasses as they aren't polarized.

My Smith Ignitor Photochromic are just a little too dark for me and golf.  Love the Nike Ph though.

Looking into sunglasses. I had a regular prescription pair of sunglasses from my eye doctor. I did not like them for golf.  All of the prescription golf specific sites I have checked got pretty pricey by the time I was done with the options. $400 or more.
I have a pair of prescription photochromic with larger lenses I keep in the bag just for golfing and talked to my optician about changing the lenses. They do not have golf specific but do have amber, rose, brown, etc... lenses they could put in my current frames or any other for that matter. If I got these and had them put anti reflective coating on them would they be any different than the "golf specific" options.

I have to start wearing glasses to play in! I've read through this thread and thought I wanted the Oakley Prizm golf, but hate the frames with them. Looking at Smith's and like the frames, but not sure what lens to go with?

Anyone know what the closest Smith's lens to the Oakley Prizm? Chromapop non-polarized?

I went with the Frogskins Lite with prizm lenses. It's going to take a bit to get use to playing in glasses. I keep hitting everything off the heel!

Should I just keep hitting balls to get use to it?

Thanks
