I've seen many other people trolled off this forum before me, by all the usual suspects.

This will be my only reply out of respect to the OP's thread. Put up one of your famous Polls to see if anyone here thinks you have a clue. You are clueless and its obvious. Just b/c i read 5 lessons doesnt make me qualified to teach Hogan's swing. And just b/c you watch Monte's videos doesnt mean you have a clue as to what is really going on. If you dont have your butt on a lesson tee getting paid to give advice then you need to take a step back. That is simply my opinion but i know for a fact that opinion is shared by MANY others.

I see you've forgot to give one example of advice that was incorrect.

Ghost of Snead does this in almost every thread.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention another reason why I like using the alignment aid. I feel like it's helping me solidify how far the club is leaning in front of the ball. I never really knew exactly where I needed to place my hands at setup so it was always a guess. This helps confirm that my hands are in the proper placing at setup. I am still not sure where the driver goes but I'll figure that out on the way with the help of my boy!

Grinding daily! Contact is improving and I am focusing more and more on drills. On a side note; I was picked as a tester for the Fujikura ATMOS Tour Spec so go check it out!

I wanted to compare apples to apples with two low launch/low spin shafts so I went with the Black 6x. So far, ATMOS is in the lead by a wiiiiiiide margin.

It's been a grind trying to feel specific feels in combination with making sure I'm doing the correct motions in the mirror and as difficult as its been, I'm seeing progress! Every day that I do some mirror work or hit some balls in the backyard, the take away and turn to the top get easier. It's still a little frustrating not being able to fully rely on my take away and just roll through the ball but that will come in time and the main thing is progress is going in the right direction. I've all but stopped working with Jeff since I'm trying to focus on studies and save some cash but I also want to maintain some focus on improvement so Andrew has offered to help me along the way and I've committed to what he is showing me. I have to say that as much as I enjoyed Jeff's simplistic way of teaching, I really enjoy the fact I can rely on Andrew to thoroughly explain what he's talking about with whatever he's telling me or whatever he wants me to do. He's extremely knowledgeable.

Anyway, the take away and turn is coming along, but I am letting my arm overrun my turn to the top still and am so focused on making sure I'm doing my take away correctly, I'm forgetting to stop my arms when my shoulders stop so there's nothing much of an update with that other than, I'm still working on it and I see progress. It's a lot easier to do with the irons but much harder to do with the woods.

My past few scores haven't been where I want them, but they've been trending in the 80s, which is much better than what I've been shooting. I think this Sunday, was a round that really showed where I'm at. Granted I had a bottle of wine, my iron play was pretty good as I hit 11 unofficial greens (9 official)* but unfortunately, my average proximity to the hole for green in regulations was 20'. As crappy as that is, I'm stoked on the amount of greens hit and I think we can all agree that if I can improve distance control with putting my score will improve and as I improve my iron game, my proximity will improve as well. My putting was and has been atrocious and it's is going to be one of the first things I work on when the weather is beautiful enough to wake up at 4:30, be at the range at 5 and then come home and get ready for work at 7:30. I've had 2-5 three putts per round for the past 10 rounds, that's a lot of strokes lost from proximity that's not even that bad. Take a look at my Sunday scorecard. I had 3 three putts from 21', 27' & 30'. It's awful. Off the tee, I only hit four fairways but every missed fairway with the exception of one (par 4s), I had a good chance to go for the green and get it on. I feel like most of that miss improvement is due to the ATMOS Tour Spec shaft because I can feel so much more than what I was able to with the HZRDUS. I can't wait til I have my swing down to really feel and see what it can do.

This past Sunday's round stats:
IMG_8165.png

All in all, things are progressing with the golf game, scores are trending in the right direction and all I can hope for is that my game will be where I want it by the end of the year.

* Unofficial is where I had to chip out or maybe I had a penalty so I didn't get a legit GIR, but I still hit the green with my approach shot.

Bro!  Reality check time.

On those hit greens, your average approach distance was 144.56 yards.  Your average proximity was 19.33 feet (at least from what I could read of your chicken scratch lol!)

Now, Tour stats are taking into account ALL shots, not just when a green is hit, so your numbers are going to be skewed.  Additionally, it's not terribly accurate to just average all your distances the way I just did lol, however, just so you know, from 125-150 yards, the #1 ranked guy on Tour right now (Ryan Palmer) is averaging 16' from the hole.  19.33 feet would put you squarely in 16th place on Tour for proximity to the hole in that approach range.

http://www.pgatour.c...s/stat.339.html

Point being, your good shots are definitely good enough!  If we can nail down the driver and putter, and I know we can, you'll be back in the 70's quickly and regularly.

It was definitely good to see you play well, keep up the hard work!

Haha, I try to record all proximity from the hole but most of the time I forget to notate it and then I'm too lazy to go back to the spot at check my GPS. I need to get into that habit of checking my GPS prior to my short game shot or stepping off my short game shot like I do my putting.

Haha that was definitely the case early on but you've sped up your routine a lot (my wife says thank you!). We were only a few minutes behind Sunday and it had everything to do with too many tee shots in the desert!

I simplified my "create" portion of the process so I am envisioning less. You're welcome Mrs. Taylor!

Tee shots into the desert from a name who shall not be named.  :help: :cheesy:

I hate both of you.

Hey I wasn't pointing any fingers! I know we were all in the desert at least once, so it was a group effort for sure! Haha

My putting is so bad right now.

I just got back to work from putting for about 30-40 minutes at my lunch at The Legacy GC. I started out by hitting three balls to a set target X feet away. The first three balls were 18ft, the second three were 27ft and the third set was about 56ft. I three putt five of those shots. After talking to Andrew for a minute, I decided to finish out practicing with an 18 hole putting charade where I alternate 10ft and 40ft putts with one ball going through my full preshot routine every shot. I was only able to finish 9 holes but I ended up +2 with one one putt and three three putts almost four putting the 8th hole, lol, but luckily, Doc Lardon helped me get back to my happy place and put the ball center cup from 6ft.

Anyway, like I said in the previous post, I can't wait until the weather is beautiful early mornings so I can hit TLGC two-three times a week as I plan to work on my short game/putting a ton so I can STOP THREE PUTTING (or reduce the amount of three putts per round, currently sitting at 3.16) WINTER IS COMING!

On a side note; I've been toying with the option of adding the variable weight system that Edel can add but it's $180 and that'll set me back on the club workshop which I don't want to do so what I am probably going to end up doing is take a part my old Cleveland Classic #1 (for the experience, don't necessarily need to take it apart, but will) and then rebuild it and figure out a way to add 20g to the head so I can try it out as a 360g as opposed to my current Edel at 370. I'm pretty sure I can add two 10g tip weights when I reinstall the head but I'm really not sure, I'll have to do some research. Worst case scenario, I'll probably just throw on 20g of lead tape to the back so I can covered up rear bottom line alignment aide (hate it). I wonder if I can just get some JB Weld quick set stuff and stick it on the back, lol. I also want to torch my old putter head to see what it does but I'm not sure if I will attempt that or not. I'll be doing something in the next month or two though so stay tuned!

Welp! Good sign today, while doing some mirror work this morning I felt pretty comfortable with the take away but still noticed I was flat which says arm overrun is taking over as opposed to my body rotation so I texted Andrew and we were talking about it and he mentioned I should try to feel like I'm moving just the arms until P2 and then rotate the body because doing it the way I'm doing it now I probably an subconsciously thinking I may be running out of room to turn my bod so the arms keep going. Lo and behold!

It worked! The turn looks so much better and the club isn't so flat. It's down the line and in a solid position at P4. So now that we have solved the problem of how to stop the arm overrun, I'm going to try my best to ingrain this motion and then hopefully in the next few weeks we can start on transition.

A quick touch on my scores as of late, I'm definitely headed in the right direction. I've shot in the 80s the past six rounds and it's been just about a month and a half since I started working with Andrew. I've seen improvement in my scores and consistency and as much as I enjoyed working with Jeff, I gotta say, I didn't see near the improvement in scores with him that I'm seeing with Andrew. I'm pretty stoked about it and happy to be on the track I am. Hopefully, we continue to improve so that way I can play straight up as opposed to getting a heap of strokes. I'm sure @Pepsiduck can attest to that!

With my putting, I'm continuing to play the putting game whenever I practice my putting. This past weekend I played on some 2-3week old aerated greens and only had two three putts and one was 15' because I landed it on the hill where it should have rolled back but because of the aeration, it stayed up top and the hole was cut at the bottom of the hill so naturally the ball rocketed past the hole so I had about a 9 footer for Par which I hit on line, but didn't get it to the hole. My putting is improving and I'm working on restoring my old putter and trying that out. We'll see how it goes in the coming weeks/months as the progress continues.

He's not kidding, hahah. It's more than having a great player as a friend. It's having a great player who understands the golf swing and knows how to translate it to someone who doesn't. He's a professor IRL and I think that helps the cause, he's a great teacher.

Updated my WITB!

So I've made a few changes. I've officially sold all of my HZRDUS shafts and have obtained an additional ATMOS Tour Spec for my fairway wood. With that being said, I've officially made the change to ATMOS Tour Spec in my Black 6x in my driver and Blue 7X in my 3w. The original plan was to get one for my 5w but I decided to replace my 5w with a 19° hybrid instead because it shortens the gap between my 4i and 5w much better plus it's a little more versatile. So along with the ATMOS Tour Spec additions, and after trying out a bunch of different hybrids at GG, I settled on a Titleist 816 H1 19° with a Motore Speeder HB8.8x shaft. I went with that shaft because it has a high kick point similar to my ATMOS TS so figured it be an easy transition. I went with the H1 because it has more of a fairway wood look at address as opposed to that skinny Apex hybrid look that I don't like. Hope you enjoy! If you have any questions, holler!

Just reading thru your score card and this. I like how you gave up the mental stats after the first nine,  lol. It looks like it's not just your putting, since you didn't get up and down any on the back, if I'm reading that right. What are your misses on long putts like? I consider anything over 12' a long putt. Are they short, long, or a mix of both. On your 3 putts, are you getting it inside of 6' and then missing?
Everyone should be able to read a putt within 6' feet one side or the other so, most problems come down to speed.
Good speed drill is to putt to the edge of the fringe, this way it's solely based on speed not target. Try to get the balls as close to the mow line as possible. Just throw a bunch of balls around then putt, don't putt them all from the same spot.

Hahah, yeah, that mental round wasn't awful but I I was about half a wine bottle into the round so I said f*ck it. Welp, you're definitely right that I didn't get up and down at all on the back but looking at my past putting stats, my putting is a huge problem. I would agree that anything longer than 12 is a long putt, just the other day I three putted from 15' because I really wanted to finish with a birdie and didn't want to leave it short. Ended up 4' past and missed the 4' on a lip out. Most of the time for long putts 20ft+ I hit then short. It's everything inside 20' where I will blast them by. It's pretty frustrating and I feel like 370g is too much for my headweight but also, you have to take into considering that I haven't practiced my putting at all lately. The majority of my practice time is trying to solidify these moves that Andrew is looking for me to do. Same goes for my short game.

Thanks for the tip on drills, I'll definitely put that in the mix next time and update how it goes after a bit. The weather is creeping closer and closer to becoming beautiful, TBH, I could probably start going to Legacy now because the sun comes up around 545, but I'm waiting for warmer weather. Hopefully I can start practicing more often than now soon!

My putting strategy is pretty simple, practice really hard on 6' putts get to where you can make most 95% of your 6 footers. Then just get everything inside of 6 foot, putts and chips. Most people try to get things inside of 3 foot which is not realistic for long putts and chips/pitches. If you become really good at 6 foot putts it makes the lags easier and you don't add to the anxiety of putting by unrealistically trying for 3 foot circle. For me this actually took some of the stress off my putting and now I get my lags closer than before.

I love the look of those ATMOS shafts. Unfortunately, they don't quite fit my swing as well as the Oban Devotion 8 and the Veylix Rome 988. I love the look of the Veylix shafts as well though, and will likely get a 19* hybrid with it.
