Been playing the XV all season. Very true about wind performance being good, especially for high spin players...(me). So stable and boring into the wind that it took a few weeks to get used to not clubbing up as much into a stiff breeze.

Nothing bad to say about it other than In a perfect world I'd like it to feel/sound softer from 40 yards in..  That includes the putter.  Just a bit clicky and firm on the all of the shorter shots. Checks fine, just a sound and feel issue.

i may try the  TP's just out of curiosity.

I swung into the store Friday night with the intention of picking up a dozen Q Star Tours to try out. When they didn't have any I decided to grab a dozen Z Star XVs. Not sure if it was the ball or I finally had something click after scuffling some this season but went out and fired an 82 on Sunday with the XV. I'll say this, that thing just goes. I was consistently further down fairways than I have been in the past and it did a decent job of holding greens. I'm definitely looking forward to my next round gaming them.

sounds exactly like my experience
dropped pro v like yesterdays newspaper
tp5x too inconsistent in flight and distance from driver to irons to wedge
srixon nailed this one

Try the regular Z Stars. Very similar performance and softer feel.

XV all day long. I purchased a box of TP5x and XVs and there is no comparison in the wind.  TP5x may be a little better in and around the green but I am amazed at the distance of the XV particularly in the wind. The best wind ball I have ever played.

Tried the TP5X for a while.. Just did not fit my game.. While it is long it can be a bit temper mental. I found that it was a little to spinny on some shots and never really got the roll out everyone else is talking about.. Played the Bridgestone offerings and got more distance. Now playing the Srixon Q Star Tour and also the Srixon V golf balls with really good results.. It just shows that not every ball is a god fit for every player.. Just my random thoughts.

This is 100% accurate. The XV is considerably more consistent from club to club and lie to lie. Durability is the best of any ball I've ever tried. Wind performance is on another level altogether. It's the sleeper of this year's ball crop! Also, people don't often mention just how long the XV is... a complete beast.

Played a few rounds with the tp5 and tp5x. Liked the feel off all clubs, great green side spin, but not a better ball for my game than the XV, especially in the wind. For whatever reason the XV just cuts through the wind for me and holds its line. I went through my initial stock and have restocked up. Interestingly enough I liked the 15 regular Z-star more than the 15 XV, but the 17 XV is the best ball that I've used.

these balls were awesome, undecided if I'll play these over the 5x's but from 80 and in, the ball just died next to the hole. one hit and stopped. can't complain about that

Distance felt similar but the 5x felt a lil softer to me personally

Is the Tour Yellow the same as the Pure White for the XV, or is the Tour Yellow softer?

Count me in the group that preferred the 2015 Z-Star but the 2017 XV.  Definitely my ball of choice now.  Consistent and durable.

I was a Srixon XV guy for a long time but for whatever reason this year I decided to make a change.  Played the ProV1x for a bit, then the B330 and then the TP5X when it came out.  Also sprinkled in some chromesofts and most recently the chromesoft "x" which was ok but in the wind I had some real issues.  Season is starting to wind down but will probably switch back to the XV since my ball stash is starting to twindle.

Driver: Taylormade 2016 M2

Hybrid: Who knows which one is in the bag but I'm sure I'm not getting along with it

I've been playing the '17 XV's for a few weeks, but couldn't resist trying the TP5X. The TP is long, and launches quite a bit higher than the XV. Feels softer than the XV, but not Chrome Soft by any means. The issue I had with the TP is cover durability. I realize we're not supposed to hit trees, but even a gentle bounce into one scuffed the cover pretty bad. I had to retire one after 10 holes with no cart path hits. I don't know if I'm prepared to spend the 45 a dozen if I have to retire them that quickly.

I sort of had the same experience. I recently bought a couple dozen of the TP5X. I absolutely love everything about this ball for my game. The only thing bad thing I had to see about this ball was again the durability. I would have 1 ball for 9 holes and even hitting fairways, the thing was trashed by the time I got done that I would need to replace it. I have a higher swing speed but there should not be that much wear on a ball that soon.

So I bought a sleeve of the new XV and gave them a go. The previous version I felt was a bit clicky on putts. This new version I felt fixed that. Pretty much checked all the boxes as the TP5X for me except the durability was much better. Decided to stick with this ball for now and at $5 cheaper a dozen, seems worth it.

Went to the tp5 and tp5x for more spin...particularly off irons.....tp5 feels great, but distance off driver isn't there
XV is my incumbent, so trying to see if either suit my game better than it
any insight out there to help appreciated

Went to the tp5 and tp5x for more spin...particularly off irons.....tp5 feels great, but distance off driver isn't there
XV is my incumbent, so trying to see if either suit my game better than it
any insight out there to help appreciated
Save some time, you aren’t going to find more spin with a TP5x
