So I ordered my GBB Epic with the Diamana D+ 70 and an inch short, came in today with two weights in the track?! They did it for swing weight purposes and I am glad they did. I know we saw that on tour with the GBB, but this is the first time I have seen it on an Epic. Wondering what it will do to the performance, but pretty interesting that it came from the factory that way. Anyone else have one show up like this?

I would guess the additional weight may increase launch slightly and spin a touch.

Heard that they are doing that for anyone who orders it an inch short or more, in order to maintain swing weight.

I just ordered the same setup except at 45" because I don't know if the shaft will work out for me and didn't want to kill resale value. I normally like 44.5 or even a little shorter.

I just called up customer service to see if they could add the weight and they said they are actually trying to get all the custom orders to D2 and are either adding a second weight or a heavier weight to make up the difference.

Now I wish I ordered at 44.5".

Pretty awesome to see a company do that. Like someone else said more weight in the back will probably increase launch and spin a tad.

When I was at Demo Day last week I asked if they would be offering a 1"short option with a heavier head to compensate the swing weight  like the fusion and they said they would have an option...I guess this is it.  I planned on ordering mine at 44.5"  Now its a definite!!!!

This kind of pisses me off. I ordered mine at 45" and it came delivered at a C9 swingweight. I called customer service and they want me to send the club back so they can "test" it and see if there is any way they can make it heavier. I asked if they had a different weight set up and was told no and all the weights were one weight. Mine is sitting here with lead tape on a brand new custom ordered driver. That's just slack on their part.

I don't get why you have to order it short, and not even just short, has to be at least an inch to get an extra weight.  Some people like it heavier.  I play my GBB with 2 sliders at 46".

If i end up ordering will just order at 44.5, and use my own shaft, sell the one I get stock.

Built the same exact setup for someone to demo but with a 85 Rogue Max X shaft...

Then a SZ with two-12 grams with the same shaft.

I called it rednecking it but animal style sounds better

Numbers were actually really good.....

They intimated on the pod that you could just order the club "animal style" and it'd come with a second weight. Is that not so?

17G?  That is quite a lot of weight to add!  What was the requested swing weight of this club?  Is adding a second weight difficult?

I thought I read somewhere that there are different weight weights that can be installed depending upon the requested swing weight.

I have not heard that but they look like stock weights to me..maybe the OP can weigh them or the head to see how much total weight the club ended up.

Redneck Math

-1 off the length (44.5)

6 SW points loss (2 grams per 1 SW) = 12 grams

17-12= 5 grams, so roughly 2 SW over standard weight.... so sitting around D5ish?

I'm interested to know.  IIRC, whatever weights that are installed will be the same weight for the pair and Callaway recommends keeping the weights together on the track.  For the Fusion driver, a 12 gram weight takes the place of a 5 gram weight to maintain a D2 swing weight at 44.5".  17 grams seems like an awful lot.

Along with the 17 g, there are also 12 and 9 g weights. Depending on the specified swing weight you will get a combination of them to hit the target. They will not sell the weights individually or just add them. You cannot specify that you want two 9 g weights or a 9 and a 12 instead of the stock weight

Yep... someone just posted there are two different options (12 and 9), so that should cover all bases.  I thought 17 would be too much but didn't know if they would produce so many different weights.  Cool that they did though.....

It  will. Too bad they didn't include a forward weight port like on the subzero. Start out with a very light standard weight, say 2 grams, and then have multiple choices up to say 16 grams or so.

It Would give you the option of putting the extra weight up or back, or a combination of the two.  I have spin issues and play My driver at 43.5".  I'd need lots of extra weight. Now I just use tape on my 917.  Ugly but it works.

They have to leave something for the next iteration.

I'm so annoyed that I didn't know they were doing this before i did my custom order in Sunday. I would have ordered it at 44.5" right away since I am almost positive I'll be putting one of my shorter shafts in to play 44.5 or 44.25".

I'm curious to see what they do for the 45".

I figured that with all the previous issues people had with swing weight and lengths with callys custom order that I wouldn't even bother to ask, and just lead tape it up as I've always done. O well, hopefully it'll work out.

I know some guys said 17g, but that seems like a lot. There isn't a clear view of them but here is the best picture I could get of one of them removed from the head. The smaller weight has a 1 and a 3 imprinted on it and the smaller weight has what looks like a 3 on it.

Knudson81, what weight are each weight?

I know some guys said 17g, but that seems like a lot. There isn't a clear view of them but here is the best picture I could get of one of them removed from the head. The smaller weight has a 1 and a 3 imprinted on it and the smaller weight has what looks like a 3 on it.

I'm not sure if the numbers relate to weight, but if not, they are probably cavity IDs from the casting mold.

That little thing is what slides on track and locks it down.

Would be interested to know what both weigh (both weights/slide).

Don't you have a pot or coke scale you can weight it on?

Those in the biz call it a triple beam.

could be a digital, or even the old school hand held postage scale from the office supply store. They were good within a gram....lol
