Hey guys, I had a quick question.

Ive read about all the raves of Wolf Creek up in Mesquite, NV and we have a tee time there next Friday morning. With the greens fees being about $200, and considering the 1.5 hr drive, is there anyplace closer that would be worth the extra cash?

I know in the end it really comes down to personal preference, but with me being in charge of the golf plans for this bachelor party, I want to make sure this is the place to play.

Ive looked on the websites and this course looks simply amazing, but I wonder about the maintenence of the fairways and greens. Id imagine it would be difficult with all the elevation changes, and it being in the middle of the mountains, desert.

Any input would be much appreciated!!!

Rio Secco was on winter rates last month. $150 and not too far off the strip. Rough was dormant, but the greens were rolling well.

I played Wolf Creek last March, around the 15th if I remember correctly, it was in great shape and def. worth the drive. Played Rio and it was great too.

wolf creek is amazing. one of the most unique courses you will ever play, IMO. it is only 1hr and a little from the strip (since you can drive like 95mph once you get out of the city). the pictures I have are from this last december when I played there. I was there for a bachelor party in december....golf and scores.....the starter might tell you it will take 5+ hours to play, but our experience was the normal 4.5.

edit: pics added...

I played WolfCreek last Sunday and it was in FANTASTIC shape and is well worth the 1 hour drive !!!!
You can drive all the way there at 85 mph !!!
Our round started at 10 am and took 5 1/2 hours !!!

Any course where they tell me it's going to take 5 hours is a course I don't really want to play. Rio Secco is great, and not too far. Depending on where you're staying could make a difference where you might want to play because of the deals some of the hotels have with courses.

Wolf Creek is amazing. I'll be in Vegas in 22 days and can't wait to get a little practice in and hit Wolf Creek. Not even those pictures do it justice, the place is just beautiful and fantastic and well worth the drive and greens fees.

I concur with everyone else, it is a must play. Yes, it does take 5 hours to play but that's because of the severe elevation changes going from green to the next tee box which in some cases go about 3 stories to get to the next tee box. The second hole alone has about 100 steps to climb to get to the middle tee boxes.

You can't go buzzing around in your cart or you will go off the cliff, you have to be extremely careful. It's well worth the drive up I-15 as the speed limit goes up to 75 mph once you get out of Vegas. As long as you budget the time, you'll have a blast and an experience like no other.

Make the trip to Wolf Creek! The course is incredible. I played it acouple years ago in March. It still ranks as one of the top courses I have ever played!

I'm dying to get to Wolf Creek. I've seen some great pictures before and they've pulled me in, but now I'm going to make it my mission to get out there.

Rio Secco is really nice. I played there last year and only paid $100 for twilight last March. Whatever you do, shop around and look at the prices on different websites before booking. A lot of those "discount" sites are a major ripoff.

Its ABSOLUTELY a must-play! Any decent course in Vegas is gonna take you about 40 minutes to get to anyway. It's as nice as Cascata for less than half the price. And you can get on at twilight for $100. Follow the comments from golfinnova, he's got it right!
