Probably a better captain than player for the RC.

The kind of guy that will think through the process well. Has the respect of others who would be playing, as his record as a player, and not necessarily as a RC player, would show.

I wish him luck, and if he's looking for someone outside the PGA Tour to help him prepare....I'd be there in a Minnesota minute

I hope that he plays his way onto the team, and becomes a playing captain.  That way they can save on uniforms, dinners, rooms, etc.....
On Sundays, I play hickory

I'm hoping he'll be as good a captain as he is RC player. Go Team Europe!

If the picks were between Toms and Fuyrk, I like Fuyrk. The fact that he is still playing on the Tour I like. There are a lot of young guys that are looking to and probably will make the team in 2018. Having someone around the Tour that knows them well I think is a good start.

DL3 announced as an assistant already. Smart move!

I wonder if Bubba will be a vice captain again? His last trip to France was a success

Nothing against Furyk, but I think it should have been Fed Couples.

at least we know what colors the US will be wearing.  Khaki on Khaki with a hint of light brown and a touch of navy.

Team cotton/poly blend baby!

He should design a shirt that has a bunch of historical RC photographs on it. I mean photos actually right ON the shirt! Theres no way that would look terrible!

Interesting choice. Its been a long time since they picked a captain who still had a legit chance of making the team.

Thank you America. He will instil a losing mentality into the team. Pity he couldn't be playing captain.

I thought Couples was going to be the man. I saw Furyk as pretty good choice for vice captain simply because he still has a chance to play for the team

Furyk can teach the team how to walk on opponents lines and take 30 practice putt swings in the eyeline of the person waiting to putt. Win.

Glad it's not Freddie, keeps Stricker on track, and if Furyk doesn't play probably not the worst thing and he won't play.

Euros will be super tough next time around barring injuries.

In the end, guys need to go out and get points.

Good for him.

Seems a decent guy...and a pretty thoughtful one at that.   More analytical in his decision making than a 'go with the gut'

My guess is that Tiger, Phil and the rest of the Task Force must've approved the choice.

Jim seems like a regular guy from the outside.  You don't win as many times as he has without some serious self belief.

Think he has a defeatist attitude?  Didn't he shoot 59 and 58? on tour?

Hopefully the next Ryder cup can feed off some of the energy of this one.  I loved the back and forth between Rory and Reed.  They were both on and into it fully.
Oh yeah a couple of other guys played OK too.
