I had a "meeting" free morning yesterday, so ran a quick 18.  I took my 2015/16 GBB head to try with the T800 from my Epic, wanted to see if the shaft was what was really a better fit for me.

Nope, jailbreak is king...

I hit the Epic easily 15 yds farther on "like strikes", even more noticeable on mis-hits.

GBB Epic 9* - Tensei Pro Orange 60 - 47" (animal)
Epic SZ 3+ - Tensei Pro Orange 70 - 44"
Epic 3H - Recoil
MP18 Combo 4-P - PX LZ 6.0
Mizuno T7 - 48-53-58 - PX LZ 6.5
Odyssey Black 7s-Tank-34"

How about the new xforged irons coming out..huh huh? ;)

Glad it's still producing for you. Still don't see how next year product will compete but we shall see.

Nope, just took delivery on a brand new set of 900F and T7's.  I will be playing these irons and wedges for at least 3-4 more seasons with 2 sets.

Yet in the back of your head you know Mizuno holds decent value and there's always a chance you'll "hafta have" something new that comes along. Also fwiw, I'm really not feeling the look of the new x-forged, and I'm a legacy fan.

I have nothing but faith in the Epic SZ heads. Unfortunately that means testing all kinds of shafts because I know the head is perfect. It's getting out of hand to be honest...all for a yard or two I'm sure. Send help.

Yep, was difficult to not be taken by the MP18's and do a combo set, but I have played some solid golf this year.  My FIR and GIR are just over 60% for the season since bagging the Epics, 900f and T7's.

I did the opposite.  Took my Kuro Kage from my old GBB and put it in my Epic and nice high bombs. Better feel for me too compared to the T800.

If you order a shorter shaft length (44.5 for example) directly from Callaway, will they automatically reweight the head to maintain the swing weight and frequency?

2 questions.

1) farther than what ?

and

b) I assume the 15 yards is carry, yes ? If so, assuming shafts are equal, how would you account for that  ?

The club that I stated I brought with me, 2015/16GBB.  I don't really know for sure, it just goes farther.  The shaft was the same in both clubs.

Maybe I just finally found a fit.   Trust me , I much prefer the size of the GBB, but I can't argue the on course results.

I am a new EPIC Driver owner.

What I have immediately noticed is how LOUD this driver is.....and I have never complained about a driver being loud before.  I am even wondering if something is wrong with it!

Performance is good, equal to the TM M2 I gave up but in the fairway a little more.  Much easier to turn over for me.

I moved my 9* head to +1 recently, have been hitting it higher, even longer, and straight or a baby fade.  I have hit 4-5 of the longest drives in my life that last few weeks.  Driver-6 iron to 2 ft on a 500 yd par 5 is just not something that happens for me, and neither is a pitch shot on a 365 yd par 4.  Yes, firm fairways, and a little helping wind, but just hitting it really, really well.

Epic is really the only word to accurately describe this line of clubs.

Same for me. I was playing  my 9* at -1 = 8 for a long time; for fun I tried it at 9 and it went a little further; then I tried it at +1 = 10 and was even longer still.   Even into the wind it just bores through.  Great adjustability.

Recently picked up my new irons and was testing them in the bay.
Saw a Epic 3 wood so I thought this would be one of very few chances to hit one.

Damn did it feel good. The numbers were unbelievable.

I got an Epic Sub Zero 3+ and SZ 5 wood.  Both Rip Beta 70 stiff.  3+ at +1 degree neutral with 22 weight back, and, the 5 wood neutral with 22 weight forward.

Flat out balling bombers.  Love the flatter lies and the shape of the club head, Good off tee and deck.  Much more consistent of the deck than my XHot 2 Deep 3 and 5 wood. Love the SZ fairways.

Played 2 rounds with the Epic, coming from M2 with Fuji 60 S, 10.5°.  Epic 9°, Fuji green 62 S.  Both set standard, TM cut down to 44.75 and heavier weight added (just 4g).  Been spraying the M2 as of late.  Epic feels much stiffer, even though shaft CPM's are lower than TM.  Misses much better with Epic stay in play, Epic is easier to turn over, Ball flight similar but seems to balloon more with TM in wind.  Had to move ball back in stance a little with the Epic to prevent the sudden lefts, after figuring that out the Epic had been very Epic.  Hope the honeymoon lasts as we have 3 more days in this golf trip.  For some reason the TM M2 is the only club that misses right for me, Epic has not shown that trait so far.

My honeymoon has been going on since May :)  I have had one of the best years driving the ball in recent memory.  I am hitting it a lot longer and a lot straighter.  I don't think it's all the technology necessarily.  I think the biggest factor is the added confidence that I've gained throughout the summer.

I have a strong feeling Callaway will be the number 1 driver on Tour next year instead of Taylormade.

What are the specs of the Fuji pro 62 stiff? I got my SZ replaced and they sent one with that shaft.

All I could find, click on View Specs

Looks like I'll be sticking to my Fuji Rombax shaft.

I won't be getting rid of mine either. Currently have a good go with a Motore Speeder 5.2 though. Way more accurate than the 5z08 so far with some added feel.

Just some info I wanted to share with all of you guys. I know there was some post a while back about blacking out the Epic crown graphics with sharpie. It worked pretty well but, if you did it or it you've ever touched up topline nicks with sharpie, you know that when it dries it not really black. It almost has this purple-ish tint to it that if you're picky can be a little too contrast or just obvious. Having a swing that's very steep, I have been AMAZED at how durable the topline paint is on the Epics all season. There were more than a few times I thought I made a boo-boo just to find nothing at all. Well last weekend at the range I finally nicked the 3 wood. I wanted to find a better solution and found these paint markers at Michael's. They come in many different tip sizes and cost $2.79, plus they always have 40% coupons as well. This provides an option that's truly black and very easy to use. It worked great on both the topline and the crown graphics of my Epics. And for you guys wondering, it's durable but not permanent at all. Wipes away with acetone in one swipe just like the sharpie.

Edited - I responded to my own post.  Beer.

Well I took the plunge on buying an SZ and paired it with an Attas 4 I had lying around. Aside from the color matching perfectly, that combo is EPIC!

I've absolutely got the ball on a rope now and it just feels so good at impact. Just a shame the season is coming to a close!

I picked up a GBB Epic SZ head on BST and paired it with a Fujikura Speed Evo II 569 Stiff (which was pulled out of a Mizuno JPX 900 driver) also picked up on BST.  I converted it with a OEM Callaway tip and added a GP MCC+4 Midsized grip.  Settings are Standard/Neutral.

Let me just say -- it's Epic.  I am hitting 270 to 290 bombs pretty easily -- and misses are more manageable.  The ball flies off the face with a pace I have never experienced before -- and I am hitting this driver higher than the 2016 TM M2 it replaced (which was on a Oban Devotion 6 04 flex).

The M2 was great -- but this Callaway is hands down amazing.

I am thinking about trying the SZ 15* 3-wood.  But I just love the Oban Purple in my present M2 gamer.  .

Please do not let a shaft be the reason you skip trying the SZ 3 wood. As much as I love the driver, the SZ 3 wood is my favorite club I've had in years. Again, not discounting the driver at all because I own and love it but, for me the 3 wood even better by a fairly significant margin. Never had what I would consider "confidence" with any 3 wood but this might be the most confident I've ever been with any club period. Please try it.
