Once I would like to see a test that is relevant to most golfers - how about the others who tested the Epic - any of them swing at less that 100 MPH?

The site isn't real specific but it looks like there are once again no 80 gram stock shaft options in the fairway. Argh! Callaway just refuses to do this. Why?

definitely a "pass" for now.  Very underwhelmed with the crown on all of them.  I am curious to see what the BST looks like in April.

I am a huge Callaway fan, but not dumping $800 to replace the 816 DBD and Alpha fairway, when there is not a ton of difference from the testing I have seen.  It was even noted the very minimal gains against the 816 DBD.  I know the MOI is higher, supposed to be more forgiving, but I am happy with what I have.

How many Epic threads are there now?  

I have to say i was a bit bummed yesterday when i went in to order a sub zero... the fitting cart arrived and that is when i learned of the made for stock shafts..... all trimmed out in green etc....  $280 upcharge for the real Hazardous etc.... $499 plus $280?  GTFO! I left without ordering ( walked in ready to swap my 917 D2 and spend my $200 pro shop credit)  ...decided to hold on and wait and see a bit....  at least get fitted and see what these shafts preform like...  if i have to add my own shaft etc i may as well wait until i can buy a used head for $300 or less on the BST ( next month) ....  come on callaway get with the program..... real shafts and real weights.. 50 and 60 gram shite isnt going to cut it ... we want 80 G in a 3 wood and we want it yesterday.

I might grab the driver but I'll pass on the fairway for this reason.

A lot of forgiveness gained if you're coming from a low spin previous callaway. Not so much from M2 or LTD

Disappointing numbers based on the article, but perhaps this will be much better for golfers with older drivers. Only gaining a few yards over DBD and GBB is kind of meh. Not worth $500 if you ask me. Perhaps with a better fit shaft that user could have gotten even more yards..?

Oh the head preforms.. its an M2 killer.. But with all of TM no charge shafts i was disapointed callaway wasnt doing the same

They look really good and I actually like the crown. The green is ghastly of course and rather lets the club down but the shape and profile are nice.

hate to say it but -- the fairways don't do it for me. callaway -- make ONE of these fairway versions with a deeper face. as for the drivers; I think it's a lot going on the top -- speed humps->gloss black->carbon->green graphics.

so, $500 + cost of repaint from Continental = too expensive.

Like I've said before, made for stock shafts just look different now, because the shaft OEM hates the question too and makes them available to purchase.

Best example for anyone complaining about made for shafts....has anyone ever purchased a 110 MSI Rogue that didn't come in a club?

Probably the best deal right now for a shaft in a driver is the Speeder Evolution II in a JPX-900...if it fits you.

I'd actually pay more credence to the guys that went on the trip and reported back to be honest.  This driver isn't for everyone, but there are 3 versions of it.  SOMETHING they have coming out could work for golfers.  You'd think anyways...

LMFAO.  Great hype.  Little gains.  It's all about the strike.  The rest is fluff  jail break has to be there due to the 50% carbon fiber, if not the driver head would collapse.  I'll wait on Ping still haven't seen anything that can beat it.

Not to worry...there are plenty of threads explaining how these made for shafts are equivalent in performance to your favorite aftermarket shafts

Like I've said before, made for stock shafts just look different now, because the shaft OEM hates the question too and makes them available to purchase.

Best example for anyone complaining about made for shafts....has anyone ever purchased a 110 MSI Rogue that didn't come in a club?

Probably the best deal right now for a shaft in a driver is the Speeder Evolution II in a JPX-900...if it fits you.
You can get the speeder Evo II in last years Callaway drivers so I'm sure you can get it in the Epic at no up charge.

And the made for point is brought up again...

Might be a good idea for the WRX review to track ballspeed on mishits across the face since that is what jailbreak technology is supposed to improve. If I was Callaway I'd be unhappy if a major golf website missed that.

It should be noted that figure is what they referred to as Total MOI, "a summation of both axes." From my notes from #TheWRX, Total MOI for other notable drivers:

Like reading the reviews of Pure and Zach, but both swing 115+, I appreciate their input, but for most on here to put their reviews as the end all, just like Shiels and Crossfield are out of their mind.  I don't swing within 10 mph of them on average and don't hit up like Pure and didn't play college golf like Zach.  Test any new product yourself against your gamer with the same balls in a controlled enviornment.  Those complaining about shaft offerings, not all are listed yet probably and REAL DEAL shafts cost more period, and if some think that every 'after market' shaft given away with a stock purchase is the real deal...well...make sure you have a real deal shaft to compare that shaft to.  Just saying....the reasons given based on two or three reviews as to not even try a club are a bit out there.  But to each their own.  I will be comparing all new drivers in a controlled enviornment before I make my decision, comparing against my current gamer.
