Had a chance to hit the other day (Callaway rep had one). Still hot down here in FL. The club looks nice and has typical Callaway characteristics, very forgiving with above average distance. This driver plays very similiar to the BB 454 with a louder sound at impact. Solid offering, but nothing to get over-excited about.

little shallow too...

even though i like the shape of this one, and ft-3...

can't hit them...

feel so weird in my hands..

like it kinda feels dead somehow...

im weird...eh?

guess its because its rainning instead of snowing in canada right now..hahah

This one is Mark Brooks. We hit about 400 balls the last 2 days and the driver is hot and does not have the high trajectory that callaway normally has. It has a high pitched sound that is annoying after awhile but that can be delt with pretty easy.
This one looks like it will be a good upgrade to the 454.

Is this replacing the FT-3 or the 454?

Callaway isn't saying yet but the word is it will replace the 454.
The irons have not received very good reviews and the word is they are reworking them again.

454 is a sleeper IMO. I recently acquired a tour issued 8 degreee and I find it to be very solid overall. Plenty long and very forgiving.

I agree. I have 5 in the shop right now. If you would have asked I could have made you a deal.

I agree on the 454...I have an FT-3 Tour Fade also, and have been hitting the 454 lately...it is LONG...and STRAIGHT. I really, really, really like it. The one downside of course is the LOUD noise when it is sweet-spotted...but oh well.

Does the new X-Tour have a carbon crown, or no?

454 will be discontinued is the scuttlebutt. X driver to replace it. This is what Ive read for months.

Maybe Cally changed their plans?

No that's correct. The 454 will be fazed out after this is launched.

no it is an all titanium head. There are pics of it available on the Callaway website if you change the area to Australia.

It has a high pitch sound. We had to fix that right away.

I have hit the new 460x Driver and being a Callaway staff guy it is definitely an improvement over the 454 which I play currently in an 8 with a NV85x. I also know for sure that the 454 will be going away and replaced by this new 460x. The sole technology they are using in this new head is interesting. I am not sure how well it will play from a "driver off the deck" standpoint but it certainly aligns the head very square at address. The trajectory is definitely down as well vs the 454. I have not hit the fairway woods yet but I am interested in the 3 wood and possibly replacing my 20 hybrid with that FT3 hybrid linked on here :)
