Golfbeat, what's the technique?

It's free and short on Amazon Prime. He explains it better than I can. Basically, he says follow the ball from impact to the target with your eyes and have no technical thoughts apart from the set up and weight shift. Very useful for an analytical over-thinker like me. I cannot believe how simple it is and I started holing chips and putting pitches next to the flag with such a natural and easy movement. As it appears I had been focusing way too much on technique and way too little on visualization.

Thanks, Golfbeat. Does it work on longer shots? Maybe, that's why Annika's head swiveled forward on the through swing?

I have not tried this but aligning the eyes towards the target seems to generally be a good idea. I see the students of GG also doing it all the time.

Good, quick read. I will have to try it out when I get home. Never been a fan of the ball around trail foot, because of leading edge digging.

This is very close to James Seickman's approach, which i think is fantastic and likewise focused on reversing the power accumulators (so to speak) e.g. weight gets left on back swing.  The added idea of following the ball to the hole is interesting and why wouldn't that work?  it should, right?

Although Tomoya doesn't mention where the sternum points dictates the bottom of the arc and is key (imo) to making this work consistently.  Having it point a little front of the ball at setup helped me avoid fat and thin shots.

But, it's free and very close to what i learned from Seickman so that's all good.

Haven't read the book, but having people release the head/eyes in the pitching/chipping game is huge and something I use often.

So many people butcher shots around the green keeping their head down because of the myth of bladed shots are from looking up.

+1 Just practiced with it and the ball comes up rather easily. It reminds me of a recent Rocco video that someone posted where he walks through the chip shot (a la Player's full swing move) and said you don't keep your head down. Never heard of this before. A short game secret :-) ...pretty cool!

Weird that I'm reading this thread . I have been doing this exact thing for a couple of weeks now and having great results . My technique is grooves to the point I don't have to think about it now so I'm just playing by feel now

I'm using my eyes following the ball to generate feel for distance and trajectory . Keeping your head down and trying to perfect your strike might be fine and well but eventually you have to start developing precise touch rather than workin on precise mechanics

Interesting read so far. There's a Brad Faxon video on YouTube where he talks about moving his weight towards the target in the backswing. Similar concept. Jump to 2:10 secs.

Holy cow!  I've been struggling with the shortest pitches and chips for ages.  Last night I read this thread and downloaded the book.  This morning I hit the practice tee for 20 minutes.  I just simply did what the little book says and had the best pitching practice in the past 5-6 years.  I didn't skull a single shot.  Plus the touch, I could feel it back after so many years.  I'm starting to think Santa wrote this book disguised as a golf teacher.

Short game grinders, give it a try.  This will be my pre-season training.

PS: this is no snake oil, you do need some decent technique.

Good players are target oriented when they swing the club.  Poor players are ball oriented.  Releasing the eyes and head promotes target orientation.

Curious if anyone looked at his other book on the full golf swing?

Yes, I bought this years ago. It is basically describing an alternative way of making a back swing. It is based on turning you shoulders on a very steep plane whilst the arms are completely passive. The idea is that most amateurs take the club to much inside with a too flat shoulder turn. It has really good reviews on Amazon. I tried it for a while and for a while it really worked but then I got probably distracted by some other book or other video I guess :). My bad.

Oh, it's free if you have Amazon Prime. I'll have to read it.

Where do you see free on Prime? It only shows $4.95 for me. Only shows free with kindle unlimited

Do you need to get Kindle unlimited to read this?  It states that it will be $9.99 a month.

I got the kindle unlimited for free trial, to be billed at the end of a month if you keep it.  Read the short game book and have been messing around with it. Awesome!  So well written and simple.

I'm also curious about his long game book.  With kindle unlimited free trial, I can check it out.
