I bought a GX 7 driver for my girlfriend over the winter, and she finally tried it on the course yesterday.  I bought one with a Senior shaft for her.

Amazing - she hit it much better than her 12* Titleist 910 with the Senior shaft.  She was getting about 160, maybe 170, which is long for her.  She remarked that the club was easier to swing because it is lighter than her older clubs.  The other club that she hits decently is a Ping G25 7-wood (senior shaft).

Funny, she only plays a couple of times a year, but she wants to play 9 again today.

On Sundays, I used to play hickory

Just another gimmick to get those easy dollars from people who would benefit just as much hitting a 3 or 5 wood off the tee.

It is a 3-wood.  But it has a larger head and the face is closed because of the offset, so for some people it could be a very good alternative.  It probably fits players with swing speed less than 90.

There have been offset drivers around from time to time, and they are helpful for folks who have a hard time squaring the club at impact.

A friend bought one and I tried it. Nothing special here. I hit my 3 wood farther and straiter. 98% marketing hype.

I got an email the other day which linked to a website advertising the GX7 X metal driver replacement club. looks as though it's kind of a mini driver but has a special sole enabling it to be hit easier from the deck. I watched some of the videos of mostly older golfers hitting it & the sound off this club was very pleasing. So it at least has that going for it. I'm sure I'll be looking on the bay for it in the spring.

Anyone else get this email or know anything else about this club? Anyone actually demo it?

As a club, the GX7 is the real deal. Just replaced my Ping G LST Driver and my Sonartec SS 3.5 3 wood with this club.  My handicap is 9.4 and I just turned 70.  On my first competitive round with the GX7, I hit 10 of 12 fairways.  On the two I missed hooked one, hit the other through the Fairway.  Lost no distance when compared to my Ping G.  In a practice round I hit GX7 off the deck from 225 yds out and ball was on the fringe about pin high.  In my competitive round, the drive on 3 par 5s was long enough to allow me to hit 5 wood to the green.  In summary, the club delivers what it says and the price is $200 versus $400 to $600 for the name brand alternatives.

I read an article buy a well regarded club fitter.  His stats for the average golfer, which is a 14hdc according to GHIN, would hit it farther and straighter with 14 degrees of loft at 43.5 inches.  That's what the GX-7 is.

I've never hit one, but those are the specs for my original Rapture 3-wood.  It rocks for me.

I'm betting that, in the hands of anyone with a SS over 100mph, this thing would be the most devastating hook machine ever.

I played with a guy who was relatively new to the game...other than the annoying sound, he hit it great! He also had that wedge you also see, let me try it, and I was shocked/impressed! What a game...

I thought so to, but then I was talking to someone about it and he said it is probably lighter than the standard drivers as well as shorter, along with a more flexible shaft. For seniors and women it might be a good club. I noticed in the commercials that it was seniors who are swinging the club.
