Thanks....Hard to tell sometimes.

This deserves more likes

I think a lot of people don't get the joke. I can't believe he is planning to slow it down this year...

Yeah, it's a good one.  But his routine ain't no joke.  Unbearable to watch.  Probably not popular opinion, but he and Spieth are likely two of the most painful to see on TV.

Well, I picked up a retail M1 460 today.  Hit a few balls at the range with it against my M2.  AD TP 7s shaft.  There is definitely more left bias in the M1 460 than the M2.  I didn't play with the settings that much since I went this evening and it is hard to see what is happening to the ball at the end of the range, but the 2017 M1 is pretty good.  Not sure it's game changing.  And I have to see if the left bias causes problems after playing with the weights, but my normal miss is a slice I maybe missed one drive to the right.

I've heard a lot of different opinions on this, would you guys say the new callaway epic drivers are better than the new taylormade ones? I have a very very old driver and am about to go get fit for a new one. Have tested out the old m2 and loved it (feel, look, performance) but do you think the callaway epic could surpass it? I already don't like the look as much.

No. I think Callaway has finally arrived at where Taylormade was in 2016.

That being said, I don't think Taylormade could do much to make the 17 lineup better than the 16. Besides changing the sound and look slightly.

98% of clubfitters will have both in a few weeks, so make sure you give both a fair shake.

Also make sure you hit the Cobra King Ltd Black if they have them.

I hit it today...

M1 all nuetral

Hzrdus Yellow X
Kuru Kage 60g X
Tour AD DI 7x

Out of about 15 balls, i hit the fairway twice. Incredibly inaccurate. Honestly only thing i liked about it was the sound, everything was very lackluster.

Assuming it was just me, we pull out a 917d3 with a Diamana 70g X, proceeded to hit 7-10 drives in the fairway, between 315-336yrds.  (Ball speed 176-180)

The M1 is a definite PASS for me.

:stop:

Now im just waiting for Friday so i can hit the Callaway equipment :) :)

One day of testing with 2017 M1 proved the 2016 M1 is better with distance and dispersion. One day of testing Epic SZ vs both 2016 & 2017 M1 proved that Callaway is the clear winner.

I hit 2017 M1 440 with Black HZRDUS 6.0 and the plastic wrap still on it. ss 118.7, ball speed was affected by plastic still on head but still managed 167.4, 10.4 launch and 2519 spin. they wouldn't let me take the plastic off the head. told me to come back next week for that and a X shaft. carry was 291.3 total was 299.9 its good baseline numbers but would really like to see what it does with the plastic off the head and a proper shaft or at the minimum my shaft from my 2016 M2.

I hit the M1 with the Hazrdus Yellow, 6.0 and it was definitely a little better for me than with the light XLR8 shaft that I originally tried it in. It felt faster off the face, but that's possibly just my perception as I wasn't on a Launch monitor. I was still hooking a few with it, but then my Pro came along, and noticed a few issues with my swing, and decided that it need a complete overall and virtual dismantling and reassembly, so the testing had to stop, and no more testing of anything for few weeks for me, until my Pro has put me back together again! So the heat is on to see if he can reassemble my swing before my Fitting at Callaway for the Epic next month, only 5 weeks! Hmmmmmm. :taunt:

Managed to hit the 440m1 and the '17 M2 tonight. I liked both but think the M2 is probably the better choice for me. Tried to with a 6.5 yellow Hazrdus and actually quite liked it - is this a 'real deal' Hazrdus or are they all made for Taylormade? Either way I was impressed by it but I'd just like to know exactly what I was hitting.

The reply I had from True Temper, was that is it the same shaft, but it's not 'Handcrafted' and does not have the same tight tolerances as the 'Handcrafted' version does. To me, that means it's not the same then? But that's obviously not how True Temper see it, but take form it what you will. Just passing on the message I had back from TT.

I hit the new M1 today, both the new and old version will still produce the same distances. The 17 version has less fade bias, and is a step back closer to the SLDR. So If you have a miss right, like I do sometimes, then the new version will be a little better than the 2016 M1. I felt like I could really go after it, if I got stuck inside a little I wouldn't lose it right.

I played with the weight track some and with the weight all the way back, you get a much higher ball flight, almost too high. With the weight in the neutral position, you get a nice looking mid trajectory shot. I didn't notice much difference with the draw/fade weight.

I hit the Epic the other day, although it was into a net with the wrong shaft for me. I believe that it will be a good driver for some people. The feel is really firm, and will take some time for people to get used to. To me it felt like hitting a rock flight range ball.

Thanks for the info - do you have any intel on the Tour AD GP Black version that they're offering too? I'm intrigued by this one!

From the results I've seen Callaway has surpassed TM and is now leading in the driver category.  But your right everyone should hit what's out there and pick whatever driver gives them the best results.  Driver for me is going to come down to either the M or epic.

I got fitted with this shaft today.  Never heard of it but the AD GP was the clear winner for me.  Purchased on the spot (hurt a little with the price tag but it was perfect for me).  I posted a review of my experience today at Continental golf on the thread AD GP or AD TP in here.  Sorry but don't know how to send the link.   PS.  Hit the Sub zero and it didn't do it for me.  This combo was much better for me with my G LS.  In fairness I just can't seem to get along with Callaway drivers as they and I just don't mesh for whatever reasons.  Just wanted to share the shaft info as it's some good reviews on that thread.

I'd love to give some feedback on the Tour issue M1 440 but after 8 swings the face is cracked. Awesome.

That is not good to hear.. what can you do about it..?

Hopefully the guy I got it from can help me figure that out.

Hopefully TaylorMade will handle it. It's not anyone's fault except the company who's name is on it. They should be happy it didn't happen to a staffer in the middle of a tournament.

Wow, walked into the golf shop today expecting to walk out with the Epic Sub Zero. Walked out with the M1 440.

Hit both Epic heads and TM offerings during my fitting. Final two came down to the Sub Zero and M1 440. The 440 had better numbers for me and surprised the SZ spun so much.

Ultimately, there was a familiarity I preferred and the 440 was enough of an upgrade for me to pick up. Better feeling and the slightly smaller sized shape closed the deal. Btw, the 460 looked huge!

Pics of my 440 next to my gamer.

Thanks for the info - do you have any intel on the Tour AD GP Black version that they're offering too? I'm intrigued by this one!

I had the Tour AD GP in an M2, and it's a beautifully smooth but stable shaft. It's a low/mid launching shaft for me, with low spin, but if you like that kind of shaft, but with no harshness to it, then it could be a very good option for you.

For me, it felt a touch loose actually in the mid section, but that is typical of most GD shafts, not a criticism, it's just how they 'roll'. But it's a slightly 'tighter' feel than the corresponding flexed Tour AD Di, hence the slightly lower ball flight, but it's very subtle in terms of feel. It's overall 'feel' at transition and through impact is a lovely smooth feel, with just a touch more stability than the Tour AD Di.

From the results I've seen Callaway has surpassed TM and is now leading in the driver category.  But your right everyone should hit what's out there and pick whatever driver gives them the best results.  Driver for me is going to come down to either the M or epic.

Too close to call for me.  TM has the on course results with M1/M2, I'll be curious to see who goes to and sticks with callaway.  Lot of good reviews on here about the epic but most are just launch monitor numbers at this point.

If you go into the 'Custom shop' part of the website to 'customize' a club, you'll find the Hazrdus Black as an option, which says no upcharge. Black 65/75, and Yellow 65.
