No issue with any style hat to keep the sun off you. I have had so much stuff frozen and cut off me, I don't care about style. I want protection from the sun. Hell, if I could swing in it, I would wear a sombrero!

I have the Ping Boonie and Titleist Aussie hat... You have to have some game to rock the look. But it's an aggressive move when paired with a sharp outfit.

I'd wear the bucket every time out if they weren't so dang hot compared to a visor.

The only bucket I use in the rotation is my Columbia bucket. All the other offerings I've tried trap too much heat in. Maybe I'm just too used to wearing visors for 20 years, but I do need to start protecting the back of my neck and the tops of my ears.

They are just so hot.

I'm in the same boat as you but I think bucket hats look sloppy.

I used to wear a straw hat, but found one of these recently in a local golf shop http://www.amazon.co...man pacific hat

It says "paper braid" in the description.  Not sure what that means as the hat's actually a synthetic fabric.

I still need to apply lots of sunscreen regardless of the hat style I wear, but this style of hat does a much better job of protecting than a ball-cap style hat.

I don't know any women who would be caught dead in a bucket hat, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I'm looking for a good bucket hat personally.  I think they are great but currently don't have any.  I wear ball caps all the time.

bucket hats are great, and, offer greater sun protection than a baseball cap. I have an airvent bucket hat from UA, which, works great.

I am not a big fan of the bucket hats but I also don't care what others choose to wear. If you don't mind how it looks and it protects you from the sun then go for it. Your friend is just busting your stones.

Personally I would go for a Straw Hat or Breezer Hat rather than the bucket.

We had Pukka sun hats made this year, and I prefer them to my plethora of others because the brim in stiffer...keeps it from moving around when the wind picks up.
