I am going to be in Scottsdale starting 1/30 for 7 days and will be playing a few rounds of golf. I have never been to Arizona, we will be playing in the mid-morning. My question is what to wear? Pants or shorts, I have no clue on the weather there. Any insight would be great, I am going to start packing soon.

Seriously, the mornings can be pretty cold. I'm playing tomorrow in shorts and a long sleeve polo.

I lived in Arizona for 19 years. In January, you have to layer. If the weather is clear, then the mornings will typically be a little cool (40's to 50's), but then it will warm to the mid to high 60's by mid afternoon.

I'd pack some short sleeve golf shirts with some sweaters or vests to wear over them. Not too much rain there this time of year, but throw a light rain jacket in the bag just in case. You could also wear it for a little warmth and then take if off as things heat up. Wear pants unless your tee times are in the afternoon. Then you could probably get away with shorts.

Be prepared for a wide temp swing this time of year. Layers is good advice. I played Sunday morning, it was 36 when I arrived and 63 by the time I finished.

I would bring both shorts and long pants and play it by ear.

Enjoy!!
