There is a commercial every 2 MINUTES ON THE GOLF CHANNEL!!! ITS OUT OF CONTROL!!!! AND WHEN ITS NOT A COMMERCIAL, ITS RICH LERNER DOING A STUPID LITTLE USELESS SEGMENT, OR FALDO WALKING UP A GODAMN HILL TO SHOW HOW STEEP IT IS!!!!!!!

JUST SHOW THE DAMN GOLF AND SHUTUP!!!!

i would love to hear your opinions; do you enjoy when they break to show kelly tilman and faldo talking into the camera? or some other useless segment???

ya but its consistent with all golf channel broadcast, and 30 players is plenty of golf action! i would understand if it was the final in a match play event, but these are some of the best players in the world, and its the middle of winter AND I WANNA SEE SOME GOLF DAMNIT!!!

but seriously, the golf channel sucks; i would rather see mtv or the discovery channel doing the production. :)

In general, I agree, but the Faldo/hill segment did add something. The long drive on that hole on Saturday was 242 yards (I think); now we know why.

ok, maybe the stupid hill thing added something..... but what about the last clip of mark rolfing and faldo driving around in the benz, and then showing an old photo of faldo in a speedo sailing? WTF DID THAT ADD?? i guess if you enjoy watching kelly tilman and nick faldo giggle about semi-homosexual photos it added alot...

or maybe im just a sour, grizzled old man and want to play golf right now, but i cant because there is a foot of snow on the ground.

Horrible, HORRIBLE coverage. I have been cheering for Angel Cabrera and they've shown him 4 or 5 times in the last 2 days. :angry22: :butcher:  And they don't show the players that are more than 2 shots back...

The only reason I'm hating it right now is because the golf channel has stopped working! I'm trying to watch live feeds on PGA tour's website. Guess it's time to get on the phone with comcast. :pardon:

I hate it cause it's in crappy SD (standard definition) which is horrible on an LCD TV with HD resolution.

Golf Channel's coverage is pretty poor compared to weekend coverage by the networks. I'm sure it's due mostly to lack of funds compared to NBC, ABC etc.

Some of my favs:
Big Break
Golf Central
Playing Lessons

Some horrible shows:
Fore inventors only
19th hole
Golf with style
The Approach <--- worst ever

Yeah but we only ever saw about 5-6 that were at the top of the leaderboard.

To bad if you were trying to see what anyone else was up to, what equip people were playing with the new changes between players and OEMs. Tried to spot what Badds was hitting, he was just off the pace for at least 2 days- never saw him at all.

Sure Mike Weir was leading after two rounds etc, but the coverage just kept repeating what he had done etc and ignored the rest of the field

In 10 minutes of live coverage you are likely to see 4 or 5 shots.
I tune in to see the players, not the announcers and certainly not the
commentators. Even though I like Nick Faldo, way too much time is
spent on what I guess is justifing his salary. Back to golf (the players)
please.

I only had the chance to watch the Front 9 (of the final round) yesterday. I didn't see Mike Weir until the 8th hole, and it's only because they were showing Nick Watney from a camera at the back of the green, where Mike happened to be standing. I mean Mike was only 3 back (-11) at the time, but they only showed (-12 to the lead)...what can you do. He may have got more coverage near the end, as he got closer to the lead. I didn't see it, so I'm only surmising he may have got a bit of coverage. If that was Tiger at -11, 3 shots back playing along side Watney, you know TGC would have showed him every second they possibly could. You probably wouldn't have even known who was playing with Tiger,if that was the case. I'd like to have seen more coverage of everyone too. Lets face it, people who watch golf on TV, have the golf bug for sure. Instead of these "stupid segments" that add no value for the viewer, why not ask the Pro's (post-round) what changes they made...swing wise, equipment wise, whatever. Something relevant! You would have thought when TGC signed on for 15 years of coverage they could have built a better team, instead of just promoting in-house. Faldo can stay, dump the rest.

Of the golf that was shown, I thought it was a really pulsating final round. You had Chopra going low on the front and looking like he had it wrapped up, Hunter Mahan making a -9 64 look a positively awful score, Stricker charging at the end, Ames not needing his putter for like a half hour with two tap in birds etc

The same thing is happening to the Golf Channel that happened to ESPN. It's becoming less about Golf and more about BS that no one cares about!

Perhaps everyone complaining on this message board should take a few minutes and send an email to TGC and tell them what you think. And remember kids, your letter will be taken more seriously if you grammar and spell check.

Let's face it - it is poor. At least compared to when USA or TNT used to do the Thurs/Friday segments (my only caveat to that statement is when Bobby Clampett was on -they should Botox his jaws to get him to shut up). I think in the long run if GC doesn't significantly upgrade their on air talent (Faldo is the exception) if will ultimately hurt the PGA tour. We are only watching because we don't have other vialble choices. BTW - their European tour coverage with Renton and co I find enjoyable. They need to figure out how to replicate that over here.

Yeah, their infomercials definitely drive me nuts.

Especially when I call in sick to work and spend the day at home- turn on the "trusty" Golf Channel, and you get nothing but garbage. I understand you gotta earn some $ from advertising, but they should come up with something more creative and more relevant than BS infomercials.

WHAT??? You guys don't know television.... I'd take Chuck Norris and the Total Gym over re-runs of Tiger any day! Chucks a legend, Tiger's a legend in the making.

Take Chuck Norris out of the picture and you still got some great golf information - "How to hit the ball further and straighter in just a couple of swings" "The hybrids that are so great they were given the name of the game's best" "The only wedges that have incorporated new technology in years" and who could forget the "3 wheeled trike" for golf fitness....

geeez!!!! :cheesy:

Ive been watching off and on during todays coverage....

some thoughts....

I love when they they train the camera on the someone in their pre-putt routine. We watch him read the putt from every angle. Watch him address it. Watch him practice putt. He sets the putter head behind the ball. He takes one last look at his line. He takes the putter back....

...they break away to Nick Faldo and Rich Lerner talk about George Lopez.

And just a bit ago.....they announced they were cutting away to someone's shot. We looked at a bush for 35 seconds. No swing. No player. Just a bush. Then they went back to George Lopez.

It's going to have the same impact it did with ESPN. People have a nature of complaining. If don't have this to complain about, they'll find something else.

It's obviously that TGC has either enough interested viewers or they're alll lazy like us.

What do you want me to say? I don't really have money to go to PGA events... so I have to watch it on T.V...... It would just be pretty cool if they could not do stupid things, like show 2 pros and 10 amateurs between commercial breaks...

Wait a second... wait a second. I actually like 19th hole and The Approach if just to get a kick out of what those yokels think. I find it entertaining anyway.... but I DO wholeheartedly agree with the Fore Inventors only and Golf with Style.. yeesh what are they smoking when they made these shows?

Originally when I read this thread I thought it was about the GOLF CHANNEL'S commercials. Isn't anyone else sick of seeing 'softitude of the wang' commercials? Seriously is this just in Canada or what? I know I'm in my late 30's but I don't need to see two old people trying to get their freak on while they get an unnannounced visit from the grand children! PUh-Lease... enough of the boner meds. I get it already! Yes, I know there is a pill out there for guys with softitude of the wang. I don't need a 5 minute reminder through a round of golf.
