I gotta second this selection as very good book. It's hard to say if it's my favorite of all time, if it isn't it's pretty close.

Thanks, those were the Reilly books mentioned the other night I couldn't remember, the Feherty one I did.  All 3 now on the way from Amazon.

By the way, occasional chuckles and interesting reactions from the sofa to a certain Irvine, California instructor's memoir this evening from my wife. I'm sensing it's a guilty pleasure!

I looked up the George Peper book, and the cover looked similar to Two Years in St Andrews. Are they the same book with different titles?

Correct same book

Don't let the crappy movie throw you off. The Legend of Bagger Vance is a good read. As is Timothy Gallwey's The Inner Game of Golf.

I need to read the book because the movie was damn near unwatchable.

I must be the only person who enjoyed that movie.

I enjoyed it too.

Agree with Pattg on "Tommy's Honor".

Also adding "The Swinger".

Missing Links by Rick Reilly--mentioned above, but it's really the only golf novel you'll ever need.

Also try An American Caddie in St. Andrews by Oliver Horowitz--very nice read.

As a teenager I borrowed my dad's copy of Golf My Way and it really set me on the right path in this game.  I thoroughly enjoyed Golf In The Kingdom.  Been a while since I last read it so I may have to give it a go again.  Finally, Golf Is Not A Game of Perfect had an impact as well when I was playing more tourney golf a decade or so ago.

Another vote for Knudsen's "The Natural Golf Swing" and Frost's "The Match". But when it comes to favorites, it's Tommy Armour's "How to Play Your Best Golf All the Time" (1954). My dad gave it to me and that's how he taught me to play. Still read it from time to time when the swing goes south.

Agreed...this book probably helped me more than any other book that I've read.  The putting books that Rotella published are also quite good.

I'm curious.  I haven't read Golf My Way but I have watched some of Jack's instructional videos.  Do you play all your clubs off the left instep(if you are righty)?  I know some of his ideas go a little against the grain with some of the more traditional instructional stuff.
