Hi guys,

Saw a couple of posts on TSG and I am really intrigued by these irons.

All the feedback comes in as awesome; looong; must have, etc...
I know these are only JDM irons, but I can easily get a set from Chris @ TSG.

Does anyone have any experience with these?  My main concern is that they look closer to the 2016 AP1 in size and I am not crazy about playing something that bulky...

Any feedback from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

One guy I know has ordered one set, waiting for his review. The original 2014 model was comparable to AP2s but with improved forgiveness.

I have the Type-D version.  They are slightly larger than AP1s...but have a soft feel and a very forgiving.

Thanks Bob - I figured the Type D were bigger than the AP1s, but I am interested in the regular VG3 version.

I fondled these while in Tokyo two weeks ago...They are quite large and there is a visual size difference between these and then 716AP2. Naturally D's are even bigger. And I'd slate the "players" VG3 closer to the AP1. I wasn't as impressed with the new set vs the 2014? set I fondled last summer. They are beautifully crafted and look great. But a slightly larger AP2 they are not.

So some guy on ozgolf bought a set of heads off ebay. After shafting them, head weights were all over the place so he returned them.

Thanks iCandy.

I saw that ad on eBay and was almost "tempted" to pull the trigger, but I'm glad I didn't.

Anyone have any experience with these? I have read they are similar size to the AP2's but Satin. This thread says they are quite large but thats not with the description nor these pics say. Endo Forging, Satin sounds pretty awesome

Picked up a set, 4-P and shafted them with Nippon 130s.
I haven't had a chance to play them yet (will be this weekend) but plenty of range time.
They have a dense soft feel at impact with minimal offset. Not as big as AP1's but ever so slightly bigger than 716 AP2's.
The soft satin finish is the usual (gorgeous) Endo.
Back to the feel. The feel is slightly more dense then say a set of Epon 302's but not as dense-soft as Miura, if that makes any sense.
They seem longer then my TMB's but I believe the VG3's are 1.5*-2* stronger lofts.

Cool thanks for the info I got a set coming 4-P as well. I wanted to make sure they were minimal offset and I'm cool with slightly bigger than AP2. If you get a chance some comparison pics vs T-mb would be awesome.

No prob. I'll post pics in this thread tomorrow morning. I'll have access to the 716 AP2's so I'll add them as well.

They are sensational. Kicked the PXGs out of my bag. Everything in the line is exceptional, D,FWs, Hy and most of all the irons. I'm a graphite player and have the stock Mitsubishi graphite which is really quite good but I'm reshafting with Waccine Compo shafts to the tune of 1500 more bucks. The irons are very long and feel great. AS good as ANYTHING I have ever owned

What's the refresh cycle for these? They've been out for at least a year, right?

I hit scratch2plus' 9 iron. Full club longer than my MP-5, easy to launch, and have a little different feel to them. Firm/solid is the best description I can come up with but not bad at all.

I just purchased a set of 2016 VG3's with Nippon Modus 105 S shafts.  I've been researching these irons for a long time and finally pulled the trigger.  I've played a number of types of irons, forged and cast (titleist, mizuno, ping, others) in the past few years and so far I have to say the VG3 is EASILY at the top of the list.  First few swings on the range with a launch monitor and i was shocked.  Game improvement type ball speeds, dispersion and forgiveness, with the pure forged feel you'd expect from a mizuno or miura.  Truly the best of both worlds.

Congrats on the clubs. Im basically playing the exact same set as you. VG3 w- Nippon ST Proto's (105)
Mine are staying in the bag for at least another season. Although solid, the Mizuno's are softer imo.
