Anyone have any thoughts on the legacy blacks compared to the 2018 x forged?

I have taken in my Legacy Black 6 iron along with a 2013 X forged 6 iron and had a hit off against the 18 x forged.

Very similar results, but i did think the LB's felt better.  One of the workers tried  all three irons as well and said  the LB 6 iron was   the best feeling iron in the store.

My LB's are shafted with i95 steelfibers so that might affect the feel, so take that into consideration.

I did try the 18 x forged 7 iron when they first came out and was damn impressed, i had them on the counter ready to pay for them but changed my mind at the last moment. Didn't think the feel was that much different from my Furyk x-forged and LB's  to warrant the $$1500 Canadian plus 13% tax. Ouch.

I'm sure a used set will pop up sometime.

I had just got the 2013 forged 6 iron and had hit it a few times on its own on a previous visit, i was wishing i had kept the set of 13's i had a few years back. They were the Callaway reps personal set, ordered  with aldila pro to by you 100x shafts, sweet set. Sold them like an idiot, i still have the shafts. 2013's are cheap at the moment might have to pick up a set of heads.

I like having multiple iron sets so having a set to go along with the Stenson's would be ideal. But selling the Stenson's to get the 18's would be a no go for me.

Best of luck in your search.

I think i*windows is talking about the 2012 Legacy (non black) irons.  I haven't hit them, but the main difference is the Legacy Black line is more of a player's club with a thinner top line and smaller head and is a fully forged iron, whereas the non black Legacy is more of a game improvement iron with a forged body and a steel face.  Just looking at some reviews in Japanese and the 2012 non black Legacy seems to be a very good iron if it fits your eye.

I acquired a set of Legacy Black (Stenson Model) a little over 2 years ago, great looking irons with buttery feel too. The 2013 X Forged are close in appearance and feel. The Apex pros however don't come close in terms of feel, if you can find a set of the legacy Blacks its well worth pulling the trigger you wont be disappointed. You'll get some envious looks from your playing partners too.

Does anyone know if they made heavier weighted heads depending on the sets original build? They are a 1/4 short with dgs300.  Had to add around 10g to some of them to hit a d2ish sw.

You must have found something impressive to dethrone the Stenson's.

You probably won't see much difference between other irons of same loft.....thats not the point

It's the look, feel, forgiveness, ballflight, or turf interaction is what separates em

What that's worth to an individual is personal.....

Always said irons in same class are more similar than different...its subtleties and personal preferences that separates them

Yup been there many times. Glad i'm not the only one.

Hard to beat those Stenson's.

I took  10   7 irons to the range the other day, the Stenson 7 and the i200 7 were the 2 standouts.  Had one shot in particular  with the Stenson 7 that had me thinking the other 7 irons didn't stand a chance.

Did i hit 10 perfect Stenson shots in a row?  No. But i sure like trying.

Mind you, the last time out doing my little experiment the i200's were on the block, couldn't hit a shot.  This time out i hit the i200 the best out every one i brought including the Stenson.

Hopefully u find a way to keep them.
