I was told to expect an iron that looks like the G and i200 had a baby in the next few months.

I am playing the G25 irons (which I really like) but it might be time for a new baby..not because I need it...because I want it  :-)

We appreciate your interest in PING equipment. We are always working on new products; however, we are not at liberty to discuss release dates until it has been approved by John Solheim. Our product life cycle is generally 18 to 24 months. Please keep watch of our website, www.ping.com, for new product information, or call us at 1-800-474-6434. Thank you for your support of PING!

This is interesting. I would think the G Max update would be next.

Maybe the looks of the i200 and size of the G.
That sounds like an iron I would like.

I'm in the same boat, the G25's are great irons that don't need to be replaced, but new toys are always fun.

I know the feeling. I was going to buy G25s but because of timing, i didn't pull the trigger until the Gs. And boy was the wait worth it - I absolutely love these things. Won't be getting rid of these for a while.

I have read this entire thread, but have a question or two that i didn't see in previous posts. I took the last couple of years off due to a back injury, but recently have been playing for the last couple of months, working on swing mechanics. I am currently playing the V2 Rapture (dating myself) with the graphite TFC939 shaft (stiff). I am fortunate that I live in the Phoenix, AZ area, so after a re-fitting with Ping, my clubs were adjusted from white to blue dot at Ping, and re gripped with the new golf pride align grips. I have hit the G and the G30 but I don't trust my swing consistency at the moment. Anyone on here make the move from the V2 rapture to the G, and if so what are your thoughts?

Currently I have my index at 16.6 and am trying to play 3-4 times a week to work on game improvement.

Just purchased the G irons with modus 105 shafts, and I want to share the love.  For me, these are much easier to hit than my 712 AP1s!  They just seem to like to go straight, and I love the feel of the modus shafts.  I tried out the i200s, but I had to admit I was hitting the g irons much better.  Hitting a lot of par 3s in regulation now...love it!

I have been playing Ping Irons off and on for many years, currently gaming the G3, and obviously like them well.  With the exception of their blades (or player irons), I don't think there has been any significant change in the GI irons.  Looking back at least 4 models I think I could go get any of these sets and with the correct shaft, could shoot the same scores with each.

I am looking forward to Ping's new perimeter irons, but I really don't expect anything that will make a real difference in the GI irons.  The perimeter weighted irons just don't have room for a lot of growth.

I really believe to make a difference in your iron play, you must get fit by a real fitting professional (its very expensive).  I have played with several people who got professionally fitted and there was a huge difference in their game.  They spent about 1800 - 2000K.

I don't really deserve the G's.  I hit an 8 iron this weekend so far out on the toe that I totally missed the grooves.  Ended up hitting the green. Two putt and par. They make golf so enjoyable.  I feel like I'm actually going at flags now. My last three rounds have been 82, 83, and 80. Used to shoot 85+ last year. I didn't realize how much missing greens was impacting my score.

I think I can picture what the G400 would look like, not sure if it will have COR Eye tech or not though....... that would be the main difference.

They allow me to play so much smarter.  I'm constantly trying to get myself to 115 or greater on my second shot, because I am automatic with me 6-U.  Trying to play bomb and scramble has been replaced with positional golf.

I'm just out of my G2s into G30s and I might take a slight exception here. I went from a R flex in my stock G2s to a fitted CFS Distance stiff with most irons 2 degrees strong (to keep spin down mostly). The dispersion on the G30s is much tighter than the G2 in my opinion. I think that speaks to advanced perimeter weighting but I'm not an expert.

Well it's pretty inconceivable that over five generations and a decade-plus of development that Ping would have make the perimeter weighing WORSE. It may be hard to see any effect from model to model but over time there is definitely a refinement and improvement process at work. Still a couple generations and it is noticeable.

That said, for my game (and given my love for super-fat, wide soles) I'm not sure the G25, G30 or G irons are on balance as suited for my game as the G20's were. On that singular criterion of sole width, camber and bounce the G20 was sort of Peak Ping G Iron design.

Engaged in the eternal search for the elusive Swedish meatball cores...

I need to try these again.  Currently playing i20s and have loved them. Thought I'd go i200 or CF16 as my next set but iron consistency has been my biggest struggle.  I'm a 10 HC and keep thinking I should make it easier not harder to score.  It always creeps in my mind that these would help on those days where I just don't have it.
How is the face wear on these? My i20s were pretty rough. Also did Ping offer some good shafts thru their build? The AWT2.0 felt nice  the one time i hit them in the i200.

LexHair:  The difference is that your got fitted and a change in shaft.  Both of which IMHO are the 2 changes that really make a difference in iron play.  Congratulations.

Same, currently game the ie1 irons and my gir have been terrible. I love the look and feel from the i200 (got fitted with the the AWT and or modus) but just feel
They're not forgiving enough.

No doubt but the "indian" is still the same without regard to the "bow". I still tend to miss towards the toe and leave the face a bit open when I lead with my legs. I feel like the G30 isn't as penal as the G2 (which was/is/will be very playable) for these misses.

Same, currently game the ie1 irons and my gir have been terrible. I love the look and feel from the i200 (got fitted with the the AWT and or modus) but just feel
They're not forgiving enough.

I have not tried the i200's but did use the i25's and ie1. Both were good irons but I just hit more greens using my older g25's. The short irons are about the same, I find the most help with the 5, 6, and 7 irons. If your i irons are not as forgiving as you want I'd give one of the G series a try. I like the 25's but I'm sure the 30's or the G's are equally as good. I'm looking forward to try the new G400's and if I like them my i series days might be over.

Has anyone had their Gs refinished? I like the iron, but the faces are just all jacked up from relatively light use. BarKeepers friend did not work for me.

A nice full chrome or satin would be the nuts.

Did you use enough BKF on the face? I am curious what they look like after that coating has been removed.

Gave mine a good scrub with some BKF and a green scrub pad. Mostly I even out the high polish finish around the edges which looks bad quickly. The faces I have no issue with and I just gave them a light scrub. I'm not too anal about how my clubs look though, as long as they are clean and the grips are tacky.

I like the looks of the G for sure which I have been eyeballing lately and I like the i200's too but don't like the finish.  I wish they could make an iron set with the plain ol' dull finish like the ISI line so they don't stat looking kinda crappy after some rounds on them but that is the case with most companies now!
