It's the other way around. That's why some manufacturers make their shorter putters heavier than the longer ones. In my opinion, putters are to heavy nowadays. I'm looking forward towards when the trend of heavy putters comes to an end, and a new 330g putter will be widely available again!

Obviously the total weight of the putter is lighter when it is shortened however the swingweight changes when you shorten the putter.  For me,  I FEEL the head of the putter as heavier even tho the head of the putter still weights 330 grams.  Semantics really but just lets agree it changes the feel.

My preference is a heavier headweight for very fast green.  I have heard the oppisite from a few different putter guy mouth.  I current put best with a 363g putter  on fast greens (plus 10 on stimp).  All preference of the archer and his arrows.

6 Feet - 33 inches (hands choked down to about 31 inches)

I try not to spend too much time over the ball for fear of not be able to straighten up after the putt. It's almost a Michelle Wie, only instead of an "L", its more of a "J" :)

Obviously the total weight of the putter is lighter when it is shortened however the swingweight changes when you shorten the putter.  For me,  I FEEL the head of the putter as heavier even tho the head of the putter still weights 330 grams.  Semantics really but just lets agree it changes the feel.

The total weight goes down so little, I would argue it has no real life effect. However, the swing weight does go down when you shorten a putter (or any club, I always cut down my drivers and need to add weight to the head to get swing weight back up to my preference). There are tons of online swing weight charts you can look at if you would like. Usually, people add 10g of head weight for each inch they shorten a putter (I believe it was Scotty that started doing this, and other manufacturers jumped on board with similar, although slightly different takes).

I can't tell you what you are feeling is wrong, but I can say that you would be pretty much alone with that feeling. If you choke down a couple of inches on your current putter, I am sure you will notice that the head feels lighter.

As I mentioned before, I like lighter putters. But 330g head in a 33" putter is pretty extreme on the light side by todays (or even within the last twenty years) standard. But none of that matters at all if it feels good you you!

Edit to add: Regarding heavy or light weight for fast or slow greens, I know people (even pros and putting teachers) have opposite views on that subject. Personally, I would go crazy changing my head weight each time I play a different green speed!

6'5 and I use a 35". I have been toying around with going longer. I have long arms so it works for me but whenever I do get a new putter, I will probably go for a proper fitting.

I'm 6ft and always thought I should be using a 35" putter, so that is what I had. I made the decision to try and see how it felt at 33.5" and the results are amazing. I feel much more comfortable at address, the putter does seem a little bit lighter but it feels perfect to me. Granite I live in North Dakota so I cant test my findings on a course but so far on my putting mats I absolutely love the smaller/lighter putter now.(Using a Nike Method 001)

5'10" and 33".  Turns out that I putt a lot better with my eyes inside the line.

Talked to a fitter a few months back and he told me that he figured 90 out of a 100 golfers are using a putter that is too long.

5'08" and i do 34 and 35 respectively. used to putt w shorter, but i found me putt better w narrow stance. putting less and better goes over everything in theory. then, the difference between 34 or 35" seems ( and is ) really up to where to grip. didn't see any technical differences depending where i hold. just one inch difference. someone might argue swing weight difference and etc, then i'm a human being to be able to sense and respond to the things respectively, right? :)

6'7" I use a 35" putter and often choke down to 34". I used to use a 36" putter because it felt comfortable. Then I bought a putting mirror and found that 34"-35" gets my eyes just over or inside the ball. I've gotten comfortable with that and I'm putting better than ever. I also changed my grip recently left hand on the top-ish portion of the grip, right hand wrapped around my left hand.
