I'm 6ft tall and currently use 34" putter

I was noticing most tour pros around my height Tiger 6ft uses 35.25" and Kaymer 6ft uses 35.5"

I have been toying with the idea of using a longer putter as I feel a bit crouched over the ball

What do you guys use and any thoughts on this?

I'm right at 6ft and I also use a 34". I think it is just personal preference, using a longer putter could get your eyes in a better position over the ball in the long run. At least that is what I have noticed having toyed around with putters and length in the past. It all kind of depends on your posture when you're standing over a putt as well. A lot of people that are more crouched use a shorter putter simply because they are closer to the ball, and people who stand more upright use a longer putter so they don't have to crouch.

I'm 6' 1" and play a 33.5" -34" putter.

As mentioned above, it's all about personal preference and whatever gets you in the best position to put a consistent stroke on the ball.

I've heard golf commentators (Miller, Faldo, etc) mention that the average golfer plays a putter that's is too long.

I think wrist to floor hight is a better way of measuring though, as arms come in different lengths too. Not only does posture come into play, but also how you grip the putter. Some people like to separate their hands on the grip, so both palms are touching the grip. If so, you have to either bend more forward, or extend the putter. When I've experimented putting cross handed, I needed another inch shaft length if I wanted to stay in the same posture and not have my leading shoulder dip down.

All this said, I'm 6'2" with long arms, I prefer 35" putters. I like to stand tall and have my eyes slightly inside the ball.

I'm 6'3" but like the feeling of having the putter shaft come up my left wrist a bit so I choke down on any putter.

I've either bought 38" putters or extended mine to that length and then choked down so that I'm holding them in about the 34/35" range.

Granted I just bought a 35" putter because in the store I was significantly better with it than my 38" putter.  I won't be extending the new putter in length.  Lol.

Well I am not as tall as you guys, but I started with a 35" putter and after a fitting I play at 33.25"...try to get fitted and see what works best for you, but like stated before, putting is a very personal thing, so if it fits you eye and it feels good to you then go with that...

6'2" and 33.5"

Same as Phil Mickelson (at least his preference at one time).  This is not the reason I play this setup but because it works best for me.  The shorter putter changes the swingweight and feels heavier.  Play around with differnet setups and/or get fit.

I think Phil is 6' 4" tall so that means he's playing a putter that's even shorter, relatively speaking.  He bends quite a bit at the waist to use that length.

This has always baffled me because it seems to me the more you are bent over at the waist the more SBST the stroke would be. Phil uses a a putter designed for a strong arc, which may explain why he's never been a really good putter from 4' and in. He's missed a ton of 3'-4' putts in his career.

5'9" and I use 33 1/2"....34" also feels good.

It depends on the putter type.

It's the other way around. That's why some manufacturers make their shorter putters heavier than the longer ones. In my opinion, putters are to heavy nowadays. I'm looking forward towards when the trend of heavy putters comes to an end, and a new 330g putter will be widely available again!

6' 4" and 35". Remember though, height isn't as important as wrist to floor distanace when determining the correct putter length.

As a taller golfer, I enjoy these threads because I'm curious what others with a similar height are using.  I'm 6'4" and play 35.5". Gives me a natural posture, and anything shorter seems to strain my back if I'm on the putting green over an extended period of time.

6' at 35"

I absolutely cannot putt well with a shorter putter.

I have fairly short arms and play my irons around 2* up, but play a standard 70-71 degree lie angle on the putter.  This setup just suits me and gets my arms hanging in a way that feel comfortable and gets my eye line over or slightly inside the ball.

I'm 5'10" and have been playing a 33" putter for about 5 years now. It helps me in a ton of ways. My posture improved, my eye line is more over the ball, my arms hang more relaxed, and I feel like my contact is more consistently pure. I love it. I chopped a backup down to 32" as an experiment, but I think 33" is perfect. I do have to have the head weight up, so I had my Machine built a little on the heavier side.
