What do you do if you're playing a scramble and on the 'closest to the pin' par3 hole you hit your shot 1' short of the hole? Do you put the marker where your ball ends up even if it's a foot from the pin and in between the tee box and the hole?

I've had this happen before. We put it one foot past but equidistant from the hole.

I've seen many times where the tournament organizer would just provide a measuring tape next to the closest to the pin sign which would sit just off the green. You'd normally just fill out the distance and name on the paper stuck to the sign.

I like Hoganfans idea but you will find no official rules when it comes to scrambles.

This is a good subject for tournamnet admin's...in my 15 yrs of running tourneys at the club level I can't recall anyone complaining to me about their ball hitting the proxy marker. But, I must admit since I've seen this thread pop-up a few weeks ago its been on my mind & if def could happen. I've been pondering whether to mention it or not....if you tell them 2ft, what about 4ft, 8ft, and so on. I think for now I'm going to put this is my bank account of information and turn the key Probably best to advise movement to behind the hole equidistant only when requested by players.

We always have a proxy marker with paper and pen on it and a tape ruler, off the green either to the longside or behind the green.

what do you do if it plugs right on the lip between pin and tee box, oh so close to my first hole in one. just had to put this in there
