I ordered a driving iron. I'd like to hit the classic driver before laying down that kind of mullah. The classic driver in my opinion is the end all when it comes to appearances. Without hitting it though I'm skeptical. Like the whole line. The top line on their blades looks like you could skin a deer with them.

I agree with you Kingcat. I want that Classic driver, but just ordering blindly seems like a bit od a wild shot.

yup  hit everything  except the brand new cbs.
everything is   made for the better players.

good quality stunning finish  very good players clubs.
cud easily have the full bag and no long for much else.

new driver is better than the  classic, fwds are very much a workbale  option  ,def not point shoot.
didn't like the driving iron, the ute  was ok,  blades and cbs are fantastic

I have the A Grind Classic 350 driver.   It's fantastic.  It's small but I get very consistent ball speed and low spin across basically the whole face.

I have tried 6 JDM driving irons in my life:

1. PRGR 200i #3
2. Fourteen HI-660 #4
3. Srixon ZR UTI #4
4. Epon AF-901 22*
5. A-Grind #4 23*
6. Honma TW-U #4 24*

I would say the last 4 are pretty comparable. I use them as a 4-iron replacement from the FW rather than off the tee. If I had to choose only one, it would be the Epon but only by a slim margin over the other 3.
Competition bag:
Callaway Fusion 9*, Tensei CK Blue (non Pro) 70S
Cobra King LTD 3-4 FW, UST Elements Chrome 7F4
Cobra King F7 2-3 hybrid
Srixon Z545 Black (Japan model) 4-AW, Design Tuning NS Pro 980GH
Cleveland RTX-3 V-MG 54* & 58*
Odyssey Lucky 777 CS
Ball: still experimenting...

I've got the 440 cc driver, their proto UTs, R1 CB and their wedges.  If you like soft, these are not for you.  If you like great performing heads, get them in a shaft that suits you and you'lll love these.

I have been using the A-Grind UT (smaller one, not the newer, bigger PROTO verson) for a couple months and it has been the best hybrid i've hit.

Sizewise it's similar to the Adams peanut, slightly thicker than your driving iron. Feelwise it's got a very hot face and launched the ball high and long like my RBZ Stage 2 Tour rescue.

I used it alot for tee shots that require long carries but still be dead straight, like this super narrow par-5...

That's a really nice sound.

I like you me swing too! It's like matsuyama way! pausing at the top of ur swing. Been working on that with my coach so as to not overswing.

Thanks!  The pause at the top is not intentional, but rather a result of trying to make sure I finish my backswing before starting the downswing.

I'll also wade in and say that the A-Grind Classic driver looks superb. Surely a limited market but who cares when it looks that good. I'm sure it plays just as well as it looks. Looks like it's very easy to work too.

Beats any 'mini' driver for sure.

I fondled a set of the CB's while in a small mom/pop golfstore in Tokyo...The staff as I was checking out for one of my fogred vokeys dragged me to a set they had out trying to get me to buy them. They were nice looking but they weren't OMGJDMTYTE amazing (like some other things I saw) like the price suggested.

have to agree with stupo regarding the irons , but honestly with the right shafts; driver, woods and Ut are really playable and easy to hit

I just found a sweet looking 2 hybrid in the local proshop for about 190 USD - looks pretty mint with only a few heel strikes. Does anyone have any experience of these?

I have been looking for a 5 wood replacement mainly for off the tee, but also for long approaches, as my old R9 is barely any longer than my F6 hybrid these days..

I think this is the one, but I am sure the one in the shot was an 18 degree head - which they don't have on TSG.

Would you say that it plays more like a hybrid in that flys high and lands soft, or is the flight a bit lower? Also, does it hook easily?

I've got the A Grind proto 3 hybrid.  I also have a Cobra 4-5 F7 hybrid.  The Cobra flies high and soft.  The A Grind drives the ball on a lower trajectory.  I love the A Grind.  Very reliable flight and result.  I put an Altus Tour hybrid shaft in it.  No hook for me with that combination but the head itself doesn't set up like it's going to hook.

I tried the A Grind - not different enough to my F6 hybrid to justify me having both - I seemed to be getting similar distance from both. I suspect I was lacking a bit of swing speed to get the elevation required to make the most of the loft.
