I saw the product line when their booth was next to mine at the Japan Golf Fair. I did not hit them, but all of the irons looked and felt very good. They're priced for the niche market that they live in. The quality was excellent.

Because they are a niche, Japanese product, it'll be difficult to find customer feedback, especially in English.
I'm quitting at 6.022 x 10^23 posts.
Avogadro would be proud.

There are folks on TSG who play their gear.  Feedback is superb (including these irons), but of course it's quite pricey.  I picked up one of their 3W used and I'm impressed.

These irons are in my top 3 irons of all time......in fact I'm tempted to say they are the best i have ever played.......They are very compact cavity backs with a very solid thump on the ball....not marshmallow soft like copper epon 302s but much more substantial than the SUS 316.....these are like mini sledge hammers and they are easy to play from 4-P.....They are not super long but the lofts are not jacked....the strongest aspect of these irons is the feel and accuracy

Epon AF302 in copper and Macgregor DW 3 step muscle back grinds.  As for size, they are slightly smaller than my Mizuno MP4s.

Modart decked out wedge on tsg is 600 dollars. I've spoken to guys on tsg who took a bath on selling the irons..I'm sure the quality is superb. Are they twice as good as epon or miura..I say no.

I'm not sure my Miuras and Epons are worth twice my Bridgestones or various available USDM offerings either.  I was willing to pay what I did, though, so I guess value is in the mind of the wallet holder.

Modarts are 500 to 600 per iron on tsg..if that's what you want to play in golf..have fun. As to the above comment..epon is the best that endo forging house offers..it's there house brand. I do agree that Bridgestone and others have a very good product.

I play a lot of different irons and Modart is just one of the sets in the rotation.....i have just as much fun with my Mp4s or my Callway Apex 16s or my Epons.....and it is very true that cost does not equate performance or satisfaction....i have a ton of pricey clubs but my absolute gamers are my wedges and FW wood...the wedge can be bought for $35 new and my FW cost $59 but they are always in my bag, i don't have replacements for them

Great video.  That's why they're so expensive; the irons are carved out of a steel billet--they're not forged.  It would be interesting to know if they're any differences in feel between a forged iron and a billet one.  Additionally, I would have to think the tolerances would be much tighter on a billet iron.

The mechanized grip station seems like overkill.  I don't think I'll ever feel the need to have one of those in my garage.

That video, and puresurfers review of them make me truly want to buy the set I have been watching.  At least they come up used, but this may need to be the CB set I hold out for and patiently wait on.  I hate to spend that kind of money, but they look sick, and compact and dense is like the CB version of my current irons.

I've had these heads for a while as I do their hybrid and driver.   These are very good clubs.  Pricey?   Yes.   Worth it?   I think so.   At the end of the day,  your coin,  your call. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

These are excellent irons.....hated the script "made in japan"  it could have been added more tastefully.......i went from these to PXG irons and after spending a boatload of money trying out different shafts and different models and different finishes, i went to Nike Vapor flys and that is my current gamer........haha i also switched from my 7d shafts to tensei and am currently gaming the stock Rogue MSi 95, i think i was meant to play a bag out of Walmart....i love quality and exclusivity but my swing seems to be less than average and thats why i do so well with inexpensive equipment.......Im sure i will be back using uber expensive clubs but as of today, it doesn't matter if somebody walks off with my bag (it would be nice if they left my car keys and my golds factory putter )

* should have used the money from 3 sets of Modarts and 12 sets of PXGs and too many to count 7D shafts on a BMW i8 !!!!!!!!  darn !

I'll own it, admire overkill, and their approach is professional, but as stated above, 'niche' and seemingly tailored to the typical course conditions in the local market there, bounces to loft offerings and sole profiles on the wedges for example. If the specs match up to what one's dialed in with suspect they're quite nice. Admiring from afar given my wheelhouse.

What about if the block of steel is forged pressed prior to CNC milling

Wouldn't that be the same thing basically.....aside from all the wasted material (which isn't huge cost I imagine)

What's a block of steel cost

Well, 3 feet x 2" diameter of cold rolled 8620 is about $134. If you took in account the forging dies for 1,000 sets, the forging press itself to pound out those sets, then the 3-5 axis CNC machine and machinist, then plating and QC, I imagine the price could crawl up a bit. In order to make it worthwhile going the CNC route, you need the volume to justify the machine. Or charge $3000 per set if you were doing just a few. I gotta believe the margins are still pretty thin either way since there is no market. All speculation of course.
