I'm visiting the Phoenix area with my wife who has a meeting and got to play the TPC Stadium Course today.  Very fun round for a guy from the South.  Enjoyed the stark contrast a lot.

Highlights.  Great caddie experience today.  Very professional.  I didn't let him read my putts.  He didn't ask.  Good yardages.  Nice conversation.   Kudos.  Friendly staff.

Excellent pace of play.  About 4 hours.  Maybe a few minutes less.

I thought the course was in decent shape.  Not great, but decent.  Greens were slow to me, but were very true in their roll.

Great weather.

Sat on Tiger's boulder and got a picture.

Saw Billy Mayfair practicing on the range.  I thought that was pretty neat.

44 front.  37 back.  Birdied 16.  Stadium stands were being constructed.  Apparently, they are taken down every year and put back up before the tournament.  Seems a waste.  I guess politics of the city involved?  Hit a perfect cut 5 iron on 18 and hit the flagstick.  Missed the putt.  Hey, par's good with me.  One ball.  None lost.  No penalty shots.  One fantastic six iron from the desert to the green from 170 to recover.

Maybe not the best course in the area, but fun nonetheless.  Looking forward to watching the tournament on television this year.

Thanks TPC.

Here's a link to a photo tour of TPC Stadium Scottsdale. It's a nice round, but one and done for me. Too expensive with better, less expensive options nearby  https://www.flickr.c...157650837359046

I enjoy it. I think it's a fun course. Certainly not the best in Scottsdale but a fun experience.  You can get good deals in late spring/early summer. Next time you're there, play We-Ko-Pa Saguaro no matter what time of year or the price. My favorite desert course and beautiful example of the brilliance of Coore/Crenshaw.

Glad you enjoyed your round, I really liked the course when I was there last year for the Monday practice for the WM Open.

I second that, one of my favorite courses I have played.  Beautiful, and challenging, but not overly so if you pick the right tees.

Nice....I live about 5 minutes away but I haven't been able to get out since they redesigned some of the holes....it's just too expensive.  I also recommend the champions course as well...doesn't get the fame of the stadium but it's a solid track with some fun holes and it's significantly cheaper typically.

I played there last year - It was a great experience, the staff and caddies were very welcoming. It looks so much different without the grandstands!
