There are many options for 80+ com tour balls,  pretty much every tour ball except Wilson fg tour, Crome soft, BS B330RXS, and RX, U3, that's about it.  The TM project a is a 3 piece 85 compression ball that is soft and spins.  The Maxfli U4 is also 85, although sold out it seems.  The project a  can be found for around 26 if you look hard.

I should give the Project A a second chance. It's well repeated on here that they spin too much off the tee. I'm not sure if that is all user experience or regurgitated information. I have only played a couple holes with a found ball. Never tried the U series.

Unfortunately, that will have to wait for next season.  For this time of year in Wisconsin I'm just using the TF Gamer or found balls.

I'm all in!!! My only, ONLY, complaint with the Duo is the cover. Sounds like the FG Tour and Duo put on some Barry White and made a baby. Congratulations!!!

Looking forward to its us release,  just a bit.  Disappointed with the 2014 FG Tour, feel the cover was a bit hard compared with the 3 piece version.

Note the website link provided has www.wilson.com/en-au/golf/balls/ which is the Wilson Australia site.

I had MISSED the fact of that being the Aussie site.  Interesting.

Boy, I sure hope this is the reincarnation & re-branding of the 2012 (?) vintage FG Tour ball that many of us were picking up as blems....

Like Deetsal (above), I never warmed up to the newer generation FG Tour, just didn't feel the same.

assuming it performs and feels good, if wilson staff can keep the price under 30 bucks, not $29.99 but $26.99 or 27.99 rather, i'll be extremely happy.
fg tour was my favorite ball but i refuse to pay more than $30 for balls.

For what I have spent on clubs over the years, I can't justify skimping on the ball.

To put it another way, I believe there have been FEW significant club enhancements over the last 3-5 years, and OEMs only have the ball left to experiment with.

I have predominantly played ProV1Xs since they came out, mainly because they were revolutionary at the time, and haven't changed all that much since. (Sure, the covers and dimple patterns may have MINOR changes).  But I  do experiment each year, and got onto TM TPxs last year.  I think they are every bit as good as ProV1X, and more durable.  Started on Chrome Soft with Truvis this year, and while I can't say I get any performance benefits have fallen in love with the pattern and short iron feel.  It lacks for me on driver feel and spin, but we all make sacrifices in our games at some point don't we?

Only problem is, Callaway may discontinue them next year, and then I'm left searching again.  I KNOW ProV1x will be back, and not horribly different from last year, and I'm hoping TM finds a way to keep keep 2014/2015 TPxs available!

I corrected the original post correcting it to read "many of us were picking up as blems".

Haven't seen them available in ages. Purchased 5 dozen the last time I ordered. Had I known what I know now, I probably would have taken out a home equity load & purchased substantially more.

At this point in time, Australia. A point that seems to be lost on most in this thread.
It helps if one reviews previous posts in a given thread. That said the ball may still end up coming to the US.
However nothing currently shows it is. Which could change at any time.

The more I play the Duo Spin the more I'm considering it a viable summer offering when the conditions are wet and spin around the greens isn't critical. Feels so soft and exceptionally durable, amazing ball in the wind. If the Duo Urethane performs the same with better greenside action this will be my 2016 gamer 100%. BB

That's pretty dumb.  They are available on the shelf (in Aus).  Why wouldn't they release them in a similar time frame in the U.S.? I'll stick with the Cally CS since I got a big stack.  I was just interested if anyone had tried them.  I'm not buying a box because I have 6 doz CS @ $27, compared to the current price of $49 for the duo urethane (FG tours are $39) so it'd want to be good.

They'll use the PGA show to gauge interest in the ball, hopefully gain orders from the big retailers, & get some media attention.

Sounds like Wilson has discovered that the Duo name has some brand equity, and will be releasing balls under that umbrella.

Hope that the price point - when they hit retailers here - is under the FG Tour. We need another $50 / dozen ball like a hole in the head.

I agree north of $40 would be a big mistake. This type of ball is gaining momentum because it performs at a reasonable price point. It's kind of the other mans ProV1, it's soft and guessing lower compression. For those of us that don't spin the ball too the moon or swing it sub 107mph balls like this, Chrome Soft and Project a really shine. BB

They seem to always price a couple bucks under their competitor.  I have to think they are trying to capture Chrome Soft market share. I'd guess it will sell around $34.99.

Duo $19.99
Duo Spin $26.99
Duo Urethane $35 ish
FG Tour $40+

They would have each price point covered.

I believe it is just a matter of time until the Snell MTB, at a price point of $32 (26.33 if ordering 6 dozen), cuts into the sales of all golf balls sold by other companies at a price above $35...........except for the dedicated golf ball fanboys. It meets, or exceeds all of the features of the higher priced balls out there.

To keep this on topic, I believe the Duo Urethane will need to be priced at $30, or less to be marketed successfully.

To me, the math works like this;

Snell = $32 delivered to my front door (CUS).
Any other ball @ $30 = $30 + $2.77 (9.25% local sales tax) = $32.77. Also, I had to go get the balls. Naturally, as the price goes up it works in Snells favor even more.

Now, if Wilson wants to put a fly in the ointment, sell the Duo Urethane at $32 and do it online with free shipping. Now we have competition.

This post is not meant to be the end all of upper priced golf ball purchasing. It's just a scenario. One scenario concerning price point.

Considering Titleist stole patents from Callaway/Strata, I don't think the ProV1X was THAT revolutionary.  Titleist business model is improving on what current technology is around. They did the same thing with bore thru driver shafts and were very successful then too. Not to mention Ping knock off putters.

May be just a matter of time, but it's going to be a very, very long time.  Outside of this site, I have never heard a single person mention, let alone play, Snell.  I would guess that less than 1%, probably considerably less, of all golf ball purchases are made online.  The number of people who buy six dozen at a time, the threshold at which the ball gets very competitive price wise, is probably even smaller.

funny, nobody seems to think of Titleist as a company that knocks of anyone
the day that the Ping patents expired, Scotty was there to refile them buy them whatever you do with patents

The Ping Darby (its what I play) didn't sell all that well, but Titleist sells the SHIZNIT out of the Golo... which is almost IDENTICAL to the design of the Darby.

Im not saying there is anything wrong with Titleist doing what they do...  and they have their own innovations and what not... you are just the first person i have seen "say" that they make what amounts to more expensive and very good ping knock off putters

Scotty is renowned for knocking off the Anser. Others have followed so he's not alone.  I guess that the facts of the matter are  that nearly everyone knocks off the Ping Anser,  it's certainly not unique to Scotty. It's the most popular modern style of putter
