Hi there all,

Yesterday i was playing in the first round of the monthly medal,
At my club for the first round they do a random draw.
So the guys i played with, only 1 of them i had played with before.

1 of the players had a TMSQ driver, 1st hole he teed off no probs, It all started on the
2nd hole par 5 dogleg right. He won the first hole so he was up. The three of us were waiting for him to hit.

Just as we looked over here he was with his golf tool box, changing the weights in his driver. Well i'm not sure of the rule with this, the other 2 guy's were also not sure.
So we said 1 time is ok maybe he forgot to tighten the weights before the game.

To cut the very slow long round short, he continued to do this for every hole he used
his driver on. With even 1 time getting angry with me because he was up and the group
in front was walking off the tee on the next hole. So i took my shot. To speed things up.

Sorry for the long post. So my question is can you adjust the weights or change the weights on your driver during the round Comp play?

Thanks for your help in advance

The short answer is:

ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN' NOT ALLOWED TO CHANGE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ANY CLUB DURING A ROUND.....even if you have a fancy TM driver with MWT.

the only time would be between the round and the playoff.
As they are considered seperate from eachother.

Other than that, it''s blatent cheating.

They and myself thought it was wrong, but trying to tell this guy was not going

Here's the actual rule should you need.

Quote

4-2 Playing Characteristics Changed and Foreign Material
a. Playing Characteristics Changed
During a stipulated round, the playing characteristics of a club must not be purposely changed by adjustment or by any other means.

Defintely a violation.....Hell, you can't even re-apply a piece of lead tape if it falls off during a round...

If the weights come lose, you are able to restore them to their original setting at the begninning of the round. As long as you are not changing the property of the club, you are allowed to tighten them. It was in GD last month in the Australian issue I think.

But as for your situation. NO NO NO NO NO AND NO! DID I SAY NO?

In case you haven't heard... NO, you cannot change the playing characterisitcs of any club in your bag during a round. You should bring this up to the organizers and have him DQ'd for that round.

Thanks , i did that after i got the rule number and information today from you guy's.
Im sure this is something that will happen now that there are clubs with MWT.

Im glad i have found out the rule now, its better to know facts when telling someone
they can not do something,or the whole egg on the face thing happens.
:drinks: everyone.

If this guy is so hung up on changing his driver for every hole, sounds like he is a candidate to dump a wedge and go the two driver route!
